Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

I usually like to keep private emails private, but when it’s matters of the state or sleepers, all is fair.  The first email was from Hank from Dearborn, Michigan.  Hank writes, “Where’s Brennan Boesch?  I’ve been long time reader of Razzball and I wish to know the answer to this question.  Until I know said answer, I’m farting in your general direction.”  Eddie Murphy from Los Angeles writes, “I can’t believe you didn’t write a sleeper post about Brennan Boesch.  By the way, this is the last of my final thousand words I’m allowed to say before they stop letting me make crappy, family comedies.”  Finally, in writes Larry King, “Anyone see where I put my suspenders?”  Sorry, Hank, Eddie and Larry, Brennan Boesch has been on my radar, but I guess I just needed a little push from you guys.  So what makes Brennan Boesch a 2012 fantasy baseball sleeper?

January Grey placed him in a tier called, “At least two of these guys will break out and shoot up the rankings for 2013.”  Boesch could easily be that guy.  He reminds me a lot of Mike Morse as he was headed into the 2011 season.  All signs point to him about to break out.  Last season, Boesch hit 16 homers, stole 5 bases and rang up a .283 average in only 115 games.  There’s nothing there screaming out at me that is unlikely to happen again, so if you prorate all of those numbers up for 150+ games, Boesch looks like a legit third fantasy outfielder.  Since he’s about to be 27 years old, there’s a chance for more as he hits his peak.  Maybe peaking near 25 homers, getting lucky with runs and RBIs and hitting .280.  Basically, Mike Morse.  At the worst, he looks like a 1st half player.  Last year, 12 homers pre-All-Star Break, 4 after.  In 2010, 12 homers in the 1st half and 2 homers in the 2nd half.  Some ‘perts have been saying that’s a negative about Boesch.  I’d much rather draft a guy that I don’t have to wait on until June to start hitting.  At least with Boesch, you see dividends, then trade or drop him in July.  I predict by mid-April a common comment on the site will be “Boesch…and…bomb!”

Though it started off a little rough (I don’t like being reminded about San Diego’s cultural deficiencies), it was hilarious, so nicely done. Rudy is right about Arcade Fire- I saw them in a venue a little smaller than the Troubadour and it was a blast. Saw them again a few years later, though, at the Hollywood Bowl, and it was not as fun- something was wrong with their sound engineer.

He offered Votto for Lincecum, Pence, and Wandy. If I do it I would have Votto for up to 6 years, but I could have Lincecum this year, Pence till next year, and wandy can go. Hunter Pence
    Lance Berkman
    Nick Markakis
    Jemile Weeks

We are allowed 3 outfielders and 2 Util Spots. As far as outfielders go i was thinking pence, berkman, markakis, and util its up in the air? I like weeks there goes he gets on bases and gets me steals but im not sure……

    My pitching:

    Anibal Sanchez
    Ervin Santana
    Wandy Rodriguez
    Joel Hanrahan
    Jim Johnson

    C: Wilson Ramos (r23)
    1b: Adrian Gonzalez (r1 – keeper)
    2b: Dustin Ackley (r14)
    3b: Mark Reynolds (r5)
    SS: Emilio Bonifacio (r12)
OF: Matt Kemp (r2 – keeper)
OF: Andrew McCutchen (r3 – keeper)
    OF: Jayson Werth (r8)
    Util: Lance Berkman (r4)
Util: Paul konerko (r9 – keeper)
    No offensive bench

SP: Mat Latos (r10 – keeper)
SP: Ian Kennedy (r18 – keeper)
    RP: Joel Hanrahan (r7)
    RP: Jason Motte (r11)
    P: Shaun Marcum (r6)
    P: Frank Francisco (r17)
    P: Addison Reed (r19)

    Bench: Jhoulys Chacin (r13)

    Bench: Chris Sale (r16)
    Bench: Jake Peavy (r20)
    Bench: John Danks (r21)
    Bench: Trevor Bauer (r22)

So two questions for you Grey:

Q1: Is this something you would consider accepting? I don’t mind trading Kennedy as his value is really high atm…
Q2: Gio, D.Hudson, Beachy, Minor – How would you rank these guys in a dynasty league?

I think my pitching would still be solid for a deep league like this one…and I could then trade Dee Gordon for another pitcher (maybe even ARam if Miggy gets 3b eligibilty).

    1b – Miguel Cabrera
    2b – Danny Espinosa

@Buster, Try countering with Kennedy/Gordon instead?

It’d be rough on your pitching to give up both kennedy and beachy; also what would you do with gordon or aramis if you got hanley?

@james d, Kennedy/Gordon was actually my initial offer but he wants 2 pitchers in return (his pitching is really bad – Lilly, J.Santana, Lohse, Braden…)
I would try and trade Gordon for someone like Scherzer, Luebke, Chacin, Cahill or maybe a reliever (I lost Soria). Would probably target a pitcher with Aramis as well…

@mikey boy324, You look a little high on speed and low on power… Pitching looks a bit shallow too…

@Grey, Overall do you think it’s competive?

@Grey: Not set just give me some advice. Not sure if I should start week 1 with Jemile Weeks and Melky as my utility guys. Adam dunn is supposively tearing up spring training and could be back? I also have brennan boesch, and dmurphy. Thoughts? What would u do

@Anthony, Are those your options? Start Boesch and Weeks…Drop Daniel Murphy, he’s useless…

Hmm alright – but i will hold off on dropping murphy because he can play all over! Wish i could of grabbed DUDA!!! people reach in drafts. sigh :(

Just read that Storen won’t be starting a throwing program until Tuesday or Wednesday. I’d guess that he won’t be ready for the start of the season.

      @Wilsonian, Seems doubtful…

Davey Johnson said that Brad Lidge or Henry Rodriguez would close in the event Storen can’t start the season.

I cannot STAND when manager’s can’t use logic.

have the 6th pick in a 12 team roto league…

who do I really want out of:

braun, longoria and votto? – assuming kemp, cabrera, pujols, bautista, pujols will be gone.

batting cats: r, hr, rbi, sb, avg, obp, gidp, errors

if one of my assumptions is available, i will draft that player. if not, i am left with braun / longoria / votto to choose from. who’s the safest?

any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks.
