@HornyOldGuy Did you get that pic I sent you? I LOL’d really hard. They’ll put anything on cats!
—————————————————————–
@EricKarabell I haven’t checked my email today. Trying to get this cellphone to work. Hello? Oh, wait, I was typing that.
—————————————————————–
@EricKarabell Please forward. Manny loves to laugh!
—————————————————————–
@OldHornyGuy Did you get those preseason rankings I went over?
—————————————————————–
Go Sox!
—————————————————————–
@EricKarabell Seems like I messed something up when I downloaded the new Aguilera ringtone. Things were much simply when I was writing for Married With Children, Crocodile Dundee II, et al.
—————————————————————–
@OldHornyGuy Did you get those rankings?
—————————————————————–
@TristanCockcroft There’s proper channels for unsolicited submissions.
—————————————————————–
@OldHornyGuy I write for ESPN.
—————————————————————–
@EricKarabell How did they get the sombrero on the cat?!
—————————————————————–
@I’mMannyYou’reNot Those cats are muy hilarity! Do you think they are safe?
—————————————————————–
@BuryingDwarvesOneDwarfAtATime Pedro! Are you going to get traded back to the Sox? We miss you.
—————————————————————–
@EricKarabell Can I send my rankings to you?
—————————————————————–
@I’mMannyYou’reNot I think they use glue.
—————————————————————–
What up, Manny y Pedro?! If there are two things I love, it’s the Red Sox and cats.
—————————————————————–
This just in. The Yankees are going to offer Mr Whiskers, that tabby cat, $120 million over 5 years.
—————————————————————–
That is a slap a lapper!
—————————————————————–
@Dick Vitale Forget about the cats. Let’s talk about the Oakland RAY-DAS. The FROZEN TUNDRA of Lambeau Field. Rumblin’… stumblin’…He COULD…GO…ALL..THE…Hey, you’re with me, leather….
—————————————————————–
Uh-oh. Someone forgot to turn off the Bermatron 2000.
—————————————————————–
Correction. That was CC Sabathia.
—————————————————————–
You people all suck.
—————————————————————–
@TristanCockcroft You’re not going to get hired with that attitude.
—————————————————————–
@HornyOldGuy Worked for me.
—————————————————————–
@SkipBayless Are you David Caruso?
Got anyone in your sights for next season, Hater?
Karabell’s an excellent staple, but would be good to see the contempt spread a little wider.
That’s wider, not thinner.
@Steve: I’m going to take a flamethrower to this whole blog. And dolphins. I hate them.
@Hater Bell: Especially that Grey fella.
He’s gotta go.
Wow, everyone Twit these days… I feel so behind.
@Steve: He’s a decent bloke. Wait, did I say bloke? I meant blowhard. Yeah, he’s the first one in my aims. Brace yourself, fool!
@Michael: You know what Twit is one letter away from? Twix. They’re delicious. Now go vote!
Hater Bell for write-in in 2008.
@Hater Bell: Bloke? Are you descended from New Zealanders or Australians, by chance?
@Steve: No, but I had an uncle that was imprisoned for murder.
@Hater Bell: That makes you practically an Australian.
@Steve: Whoa… Sorry… Not sure how Hater got out of his ball gag.
@Grey: No need to apologise. Hater was being historically accurate. It’s a known fact that many Australians are descended from convicts that were shipped there from Britain.
And we New Zealanders are only too happy to remind them of it.
@Steve: Where are the Zealanders originally from? I read Germs, Guns and Steel, but I forget if they covered youse.
@Grey: There’s an indigenous people called the Maori, who came here by sea from Eastern Polynesia.
Then there’s the rest of us, and our descendants mainly came from Britain. In my case, my ancestry is mainly Scottish I think.
Is that a good book, BTW? I’ve heard good things about it.
@Grey: I think my dad may have it somewhere, so might check it out.
I have just started reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
Bleak.
@Steve: I think that one won the Pulitzer too. Yeah, me and Mr. Pulitzer don’t always see eye to eye. I got about a week into him walking around aimlessly and I put it down to never pick it up again.
EDIT: Wrong word. Dur.
@Grey: It’s still got me for now.
You should check out that Halberstam collection of sports writing (Everything They Had) – he was one of the true greats IMHO.
@Steve: Yeah, I’ll check it out. I’m a bit behind in books I have to read. I think Houdini’s biography is up next.
@Grey: Are you a fiction or non-fiction guy?
I’m overwhelmingly non-fiction – and probably too much sports.
@Steve: I’m a total non-fiction guy. The last fiction book I read that I loved was The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and that read like non-fiction.
@Grey: Wow. That looks pretty cool – will definitely check that out.
I have to say that the fiction I go for tends to resemble non fiction. Best example is the James Elroy stuff (you should check that out too) that I posted about in the forums a couple of months ago. It’s fiction, but full of actual historical figures.
@Steve: Yeah, I don’t think I’ve read any Elroy stuff, will definitely check it out.
You’ll check out what? Kavalier and Clay? You haven’t read it? You absolutely have to. It’s incredible.
@Grey: Yeah – Kavalier and Clay.
Read it? Hadn’t even heard of it.
The Auckland City Library has it, though, so I’ll get right on it.
@Steve: You know when you really love a book (or movie) how you wish you didn’t see it so you could see again for the first time? That’s how I feel about that one. But library? You use libraries in New Zealand?
@Grey: Quaint notion isn’t it?
It’s probably the quickest way of getting hold of it, if it isn’t available in stores.
I do prefer to buy books, though.
@Steve: Don’t you guys have Amazon? Or a giant bookstore like Barnes and Noble?
@Grey: Nah – our Amazon stuff has to come from the US. And to get it here quickly, it starts to become a bit expensive (especially in the current economic climate) with the state of the NZ dollar vs the US dollar).
I’ve already emailed my favourite bookstore here for price and availablity though ;-)
Borders is probably our biggest.
Gotta remember, there’s only 3 million people here. Not the sort of market that attracts the Amazons and B and Ns of this world to set up locally.
Actually, 4.2 million NZers. There are 13 mill or so in LA alone…
@Steve: Aw, you guys are tiny. How cute.
@Grey: And, relatively speaking, not much actually happens here (a great contry to live tho). Partly explains why some of us are quite outward-looking in terms of popular culture and what-not.
Although when it comes to popular culture, you guys have done a pretty fair job of exporting it ;-)
Decided who to vote for?
@Steve: Do you have any of your own shows?
I decided who to vote for six months ago. Go to the newest post to continue kibbitzing.
