One week down, so many more to go. I could look up the actual number of weeks left, but the payoff-to-effort ratio was too damn high. Which is why I’m currently single as well. Yeah, that’s exactly why. Plus, based on the old adage that time flies when you’re having fun, with my Padres starting 0-3, scoring zero runs and allowing 25, I’d say the season has bout 897 weeks left in it. Sure, that’s a rough estimate, but based on my own mathematical skills and experiencing the atrocities to the soul and mind by being a San Diego sports fan, 897 seems pretty accurate. But enough about my masochistic ways, we’re here to breakdown the wonderful world of Razz and highlight what exactly went down this week…
Follow me after the jump to take a look back at what was week one AND a look forward on all things Razzball, including some player suggestions for next week, straight from Razzball’s Streamonator, Hitter-Tron, and DFSBot!
This Past Week…
The week started off bold with J-FOH and frequent commenter Oaktown Steve dropping down some bold predictions for the season. On a side note, for those of us who haven’t actually met Steve (only a few have held this profound pleasure!), I can tell you that you can simply Google search a picture of Billy Beane and then play any audio from Dave Cameron pontificating on something and you’ll have a pretty good representation.
Anyways, J-FOH returned the next day to discuss what the new year of SAGNOF will bring. I’m hoping for some saves and steals, but I’ll probably just end up with a whole bunch of youtube links to questionable unheard of 90’s hip hop from a towering white guy. Seems good.
SON started off the season with a new series called “No Whammies!”. I’m not sure where it comes from, but the motiff says old 70’s game show. If that’s the case, we need to get our research team on ways to implement a crossover series with the “Family Feud”. Wait, what’s that? I’m the research team? Damn. Payoff-to-effort ratio guys, there’s not much you can do about that…
J.B. is back and better than ever* with his top-100 Starting Pitcher Rankings. Be sure to tune in the upcoming week when we’ll also have the return of the top-100 Hitters series! Because we like the number 100 I guess.
*May not actually be true…
In the mean time, while you’re waiting for stuff ranked in the hundreds, be sure to check out the Razzball Podcast, staring Grey and the aforementioned J.B.. My favorite part is when Gilpin gives us live updates to a baseball game on recorded media. It really adds to immersion factor, as if we are listening to the Podcast live. Keep up the good fight Gilpin! Live updates are totally useful for a show that get’s released 24 hours later! Though, if you can, maybe also do some up to date reports on the 16th century French textile industry. I would find that information just as useful…
Matt Truss has your Razzball Commenter League update and also provided a nice cheatsheet of resources if you’re into that whole DFS thang…
Magoo is back with his trash (how hobo of you) with his first post going philosophical. He then brings to life his fondness of animals going over the first bear or bull of the year. Remember folks, you can love animals. Just don’t looooooooove animals, if ya know what I mean.
Smokey ranked all Closers in the first week, M@ has your two-start pitchers list for next week, and Malamoney and Hodysseus have your Points Leagues and OBP Leagues round ups for Week 1 right here and here, respectively.
Next Week…
For some Streamonator action, I’d recommend picking up Rich Hill or Rick Porcello as streaming options that are super not owned. Rudy’s wonder tool has them both in the top-20 pitchers next week, and apparently really likes names that start with R-I-C. If adding underwhelming pitchers isn’t your thing, Ian Kennedy is at around 60% ownership and is ranked ninth. And don’t forget, Bartolo Colon is pitching against the Phillies this week… could be worth a look (ranked seventh for that day).
The Hitter-Tron really likes Bryce Harper next week (SUPRISE, I know), but if you’re looking for something that’s obtainable on your wire, I have to say, Luis Valbuena is ranked a bit higher than I would expect. The “Tron” has him providing a better fantasy week than Byron Buxton, Ryan Zimmerman, and Adrian Gonzalez…
And be sure to check in everyday for our Daily Fantasy content, led by Sky and company. They’ve been bringing you all the tips and strategy you need to win that cash-monies. Our DFSBot is also there to help guide your way to that aforementioned cash-monies. Mmmm, cash-monies.
Want more of the Jay? Don’t we all folks? Don’t. We. All. Well, you, in fact, can have more. AMAZING. I know. You can find Jay enjoying his dig’s over at the Football side of Razz.
