Didja hear? Games started. Yeah, no foolin’. There was practically a full slate of games yesterday, but we didn’t talk about any of them on the podcast. The bumper sticker on our podcast reads, “We’re timely for a section of Africa that doesn’t have internet.” Yes, we have a long bumper. That’s what she said! Huh? On today’s podcast, we are joined by our prospect writer, Scott Evans (depending on what name Nick introduces him by — it changes on the daily) as he talks about Jose Fernandez and we’re also joined by Tom, our OPS guy, as he talks about closers. Why closers and not OPS? I think Nick just thought OPS stood for give him opportunities. Then Rudy and I take over the ‘cast and we drop on your unkempt ears some players to pick up in 12 team mixed leagues, 15 team mixed leagues, NL-Only and AL-Only. I try to work in some of my beautiful singing… Okay, that’s a lie, I don’t try to work in a song. I sing a song for the better part of the podcast. One song– Nay, one chorus, for 15 minutes. As a youth, I was in the Jewish Tabernacle Choir. Our motto was, “Why do the Mormons gotta have everything not-fun?” So, you’ll enjoy that. We also tackle some hard-hitting questions like, “Why you trading away your whole team, yo? You just drafted them,” and spring takeaways. I prefer Chinese takeaways, but that’s just me. Anyway, here’s the Razzball podcast (now in a key of B-flat):

@Grey: 274th!

Are we doing an early tally for how many guys Darvish will K this year? Put me down for 295!
I’ll go 294… Price is Right’d you!
I saw David’s line today… The Price is wrong, snitch!
Haha greys right, he’ll only get 294…
300!!

I totally got @R_ScottE’s name right? Wright? Rite?
Wrong…JayWrong!
@Sky: the answer is always jaywrong.
I’ve still got some gripes with the syllable emphasis, but we’re getting closer…
@Scott Evans: Say what?
@Grey: Please rank these 3B guys: Lawrie, Machado, Moose? I have all 3, who is droppable in a 14 team league?
@ThE sHiT: You ranked them, none are really droppable… You can’t DL Lawrie?
@Grey: I already have Lawrie Dl’ed. Im switching the other two at 3B, while also filling the UTIL slot with one of Dom Brown, Cowgill, and the leftover 3B. Just wondering who should be the first one to be dropped for a hot starting SP or hitter. Guys like Belt, Marte, Maybin, Quentin, Alonso, Bradley, Hammel, Fiers, Griffin, Gee, and Fernandez are available.
Cowgill is the first one to drop… I suggest trading Lawrie the day he returns…
@Grey: Gotcha. I already tried trading him, will keep the effort going. Im content with Machado at the hot corner this year. Btw, this is my squad, drafted from the second spot. Hoping the waiver goes through where i would be dropping Wilhelmsen for Gyorko. Im punting saves as i did last year. This is the H2H league with a shitload of scoring cats.

You’re punting saves to have a backup infielder? Huh?
@Grey: Punting saves because of all the other categories the replacement player can contribute in. Our league has a Blown Save cat also. So i am equally as likely to win or lose those two cats on a given week.
Gotcha… You have no place to play Cowgill on that team…
@Grey: Gyorko is insurance for Uggla, who just got himself a longer leash after his bomb yesterday. Gyorko should be owned in my league anyway.
drop joyce for infante or cowgill?
@Trailblazer: Cowgill
Just had draft 10 team standard
Julio Teheran was not drafted
Would u drop a bench guy like viciedo to pick him and start this week
Thx!
Sure
One more…Dominic Brown on waivers…..would u drop a bench guy like Viciedo for him?
10 team standard
Thanks!
Sure
@Ryan: ya, more upside
Just DL’ed the pod and I’ll be tuned in later today. Can’t wait.
A trade question, in the meantime…
10 tm h2h keeper league
I give Goldy, Kipnis, R. Zimmerman
I get Votto, B. Philips & Papelbon
I’m blinded by my man love for the Votto. Am I giving too much if I do this deal?
Goldy’s pretty damn loveable too, and he may be a top 1B option as soon as right now. What to do, what to do?
You’re giving too much.
@inertiatic: I like me some Votto too, but the thing that scares me about the deal is the value difference in Ry-Zimm and Papelboner. SAGNOF!
Nice work on the podcast guys.
Cano signs with Jay Z?!
Grey signs with Coolio?!
Ha!
Thanks for the podcast. My lunch break will have some entertainment. On another note, I am looking for some bench depth in my 5×5 roto league. Waiver options are Gee, Doubront, Tillman and mcCarthy. I know you ranked McCarthy the highest but just wanted to see if anything has changed. Thanks.
Thanks! I’d go McCarthy for now…
@Boomer19: What’s for lunch? Something spicy?
As a followup to your advice to trade C. Davis for a pitcher. Should I drop any of the guys on my bench for one of the pitchers listed below on The Wire (sidenote: great show)?
Starting Lineup: Avila, Pujols, Weeks, Longoria, Rutledge, A. Gonz (LAD), A. Gordon, C. Davis (BAL), Pence, R. Zimmerman,
Bench: D. Murphy (Tex), Bonifacio, M. Carpenter, A. Simmons, T. Frazier
Pitchers: Gio, Sherzer, Lynn, Moore, Sanchez, Bailey, Cobb, Boggs
Pitchers on Wire: Fujikawa, Iwakuma, Fiers, Hanson, Beachy, Cashner, Clippard, Vargas, Norris, Worley, Chacin, Bedard, Buehrle, Cook.
Fiers over Murphy, Norris over Bonifacio…
Hi Grey — Looking forward to listening to the podcast on my run tomorrow morning. Thanks!
Please rank the top three or four in each of the following categories (well, except for a DL stash, since there are only two) … if in your estimation there’s a big drop-off after someone or one choice is by far the best please mention it:
SP: Griffin, Cashner, Jose Fernandez, Milone, Vargas, Straily
OF: Cowgill, Marte, Lorenzo Cain, Hicks, Eric Young Jr., Leonys, Krispie Young, G Parra
DL stash: Beachy, Billingsly
Thanks!
Cool, no problem… Milone, Griffin, Fernandez… Marte, Cain, Cowgill… Bills…
Also want to hold two of bailey, valverde and santos for saves? Drop which one? Thanks again.
Valverde
Hi Grey, of the players not called up yet, which would you put in your NA slot?
@fungus: pretty broad question…
@Prezii: e.g. Meyers, Taveras, Puig, Hamilton, Profar?
Myers
also, I need another SP. Which of these would you pick up?
Cahill, Miley, Teheran, Cobb, Hughes, Dempster, Pettitte?
Hughes
Okay one have adam eaton want to drop him but don’t know who for was thinking maybe cowgill or chris johnson what do you think? Plus Matt Latos similar to YoGa has bad career april numbers should I avoid starting him this month especially against the angels on Wed.?
Cowgill… Sure, you can avoid Latos…. I’d start him in most league though…
Is Jose Fernandez a better pickup over Dillon Gee? The idea is I would want to utilize either by next week. Gee’s SwStr% has increased, looks like he can maintain higher K’s and has the tools to lower his WHIP/ERA from last year… Fernandez is unproven, but like Scott said, could hold a decent ERA/WHIP… Do you buy a 8+ K/9?
Thanks
Yeah, I like Fernandez a lot… Gee is less risky, but Fernandez’s upside is much higher… Depends what you need…
@Grey: SP’s are Bumgarner, Zimmerman,Niese, Ryu, Milone, and Hughes. You suggested I wait until Hughes returns before starting anyone else (in a previous comment), but with Bauer and Doubront on the bench, I wanted to get someone on my bench who could start next week in case Hughes has a setback. I’m lacking in K’s, and my ERA projects to be average, but I don’t want to blow it up by insterting Fernandez and having him get lit up. I wouldn’t mind looking like a genius for picking up fernandez. 10 team 5×5 Yahoo, so I know I’m digging a little deep in a shallow league.
I’d go with Fernandez…
@Grey: Spanks, Grey.
@Grey: One last one – Bauer v Fernandez, who do you choose.
@John Stamos: Fernandez
16 Team H2H Keeper (keep 5). Stats: W, L, SV, Ks, ERA, WHIP, Ks/9.
Pitching staff looks like this:
SP: Price
SP: Niese
SP: Moore
RP: Wilhelmsen
RP: Veras
P: Dotel
P: Parker
BN: Dempster
BN: Gee
BN: Teheran
Do I cut bait on Dotel for Fernandez?
Go for it…
@Grey: thanks. Was kinda going for it anyway, just on the off chance that he has an insane year. Doubt he does, but he may have trade value in a keeper anyway.
Yeah, just in case he breaks out…
Drop Cam maybin for Reimold? 12 team standard.
@DansUggla: Maybin has more upside but it’s not unreasonable unless you really need steals. Then stay Cameron.
I’d hold for now…
WIETERS!
Oh yeah!
Im going to try to let Jo-Fer go til thursday so i can get Gee’s start… Cross your fingers for me he doesnt get swooped!
P.S. dont quit ur day job Grey… :)
Ha, good idea!
Any of these guys worth a roster spot in a 10 team 5×5 roto league?
Alex Cobb,
Ryan Dempster,
Clay Buchholz,
Wandy Rodriguez,
Julio Teheran,
Shelby Miller,
Tommy Hanson,
Jason Vargas,
Paul Maholm,
Rick Porcello
@aj: Miller
Anyone wanna go halfsies on an MLBTV subscription? And by halfsies I mean fivesies.
Grey, how do you watch all your games?
@Project Merkin: I just bought the MLB package and I gotta say it’s awesome… Watching Baltimore/Tampa on my iPad right now…
‘member yesterday when there was a ton of day baseball so instead of selling software I could flood your site with comments and follow baseball on the internet? Good times.
@OaktownSteve: We had fun.
Why doesn’t Price just put it on an effing tee?
@Steve: Time for some Jennings magic…
@Steve: There ya go. Now steal 3rd.
@Steve: Dammit, I have Hammel in my h2h…can you reverse the spell?
@royce!: I may already have.
@Steve: realized I have Zobrist in the same league so keep up the good work!
@royce!: Doing my best.
@Steve: hahaha! Classic steveburmetrics! How bout a little cursing of machado? Two on and he goes down swingin… Jones cleaned it up tho.
Wow chris davis…
@Steve: Adam Jones! You have him?
@Grey: No! *frowns*.
Though my opponent does. Of course he does.
Oh… Damn… So, that’s why my RCL team is turning around…
@Grey: But you know what? I could have got him in the ol’ H2H. Could have gone Braun, -J-Up, Jones and probably got Goldy in the 4th. Just couldn’t bring myself to take OFs with the first 3 picks…
Yeah, that’s for the best…
Jennings with a steal…
@Steve: Grrrrr. McGee on the bench. Burning some Holds this week. So many MRs, so few spots…
@Steve: Steve magic! McGee gets crushed.
@royce!: Ha, you beat me to it! (Personally, I enjoyed it, because I own Adam Jones everywhere.)
@Steve: @Steve: Did you just see McGee implode?
@Steve: Yay! I had McGee on the bench!
Need trade advice:
In a 16 team dynasty league I just got offered Colby Rasmus for my Andrew Cashner.
My OF consists of Adam Jones, Eaton, Valdespin, D. Murphy, L. Morrison and V. Wells (Pretty desperate for an OF). I dont think Im going to contend this year, so I dont care about trying to have bodies in the OF. Do you think that Rasmus is washed up? I have worries about Cashner’s injury history. What do you think?
@Luis: I’d take Rasmus…
In light of Ludwick hitting DL, know you love Chris Heisey – quick projections for him if he’s getting consistent playing time?
@EL BURRO: 15 HRs, 7 steals, .260….
@Grey:
i was close. that’s probably a pass. In other news, does Frazier move up to CLEAN UP?
Seems logical, but it is Dusty.
I hope so…
Better pick-up in an OPS league: Berkman or Chris Davis? Thanks.
@hankg: Davis
I punted C in the RCL and currently streaming from that position… I need to pick up a C for tomorrow: should i drop Jackie Bradley or Parra…
@Beardcrabs: Parra
“That’s cool that the Rays have a Samoan catcher.”
“That’s no Samoan, that’s Jose Molina.”
@Carnac: “You mean to tell me that Jose Molina is still playing baseball, has GAINED weight… AND is wearing a grass skirt?”
@Carnac: Jose Somoalina
@Carnac: Ha… He’s Tongan…
Jake McGee is DEALING.
@OaktownSteve:
McGee gave up 12 ER all last year. 5 spot in the opener. Nice work
@OaktownSteve:
After that garish disaster, should we start calling him McG – in honor of the director?
Jones is making it rain!
@ThE sHiT: Loving it!
7th inning stretch in Tampa Bay: “God Bless America” on a saxophone while a woman stands next to him translating the words into sign language. You’d think she’d be air-saxing it, but no.
@Carnac: Would’ve like to hear Take Me Out to the Ballgame on the sax…
I totally jinxed Ryan Ludwick – he couldn’t take the adulation. Threw himself down the proverbial staircase.
@Rudy Gamble: Can’t find a better man!
@Grey: [Carnac slowly lifts drill to head]
NOOOOOO!!!
First time poster and first year Fantasy Player so I’m a novice. Love this site, has helped me out a ton already. Would like to get your input on my first draft. Its a 8 team 5×5 H2H league with 7 move limit per week. Category’s are HR, RBI, SB, AVG, Runs, Wins, Saves, K’s, ERA, WHIP. Should I scrap my bench and pick up 3 more starters to stream or should I keep bench and Stream Estrada, Miller, and Harvey? Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words! Your league is very shallow so you’re gonna have to work waivers… Right now, your hitting looks decent, but light on speed and average… The pitching looks great, maybe a little too great which has hurt your hitting…
@Grey</[email protected]Grey: Thanks, for the input. Just one more question if you don’t mind. Would you just hold steady for now or package a starter with possibly a bench player for offensive upgrade?
No problem, I’d hold for now…
Itching to pick up Reimold before anyone else snags him. Should have taken him in my taxi round. 4X4. Who should I drop Stubbs or Saunders … or should I hold? Thinking Stubbs as I am pretty speedy as is.
Stubbs
@Grey: Ohhh… Reimold or Wallace?
Reimold
@Grey: …especially in light of Wallace’s smugshot. Say what you will about his bat, but year after year he’s proven to be one of the most reliable smugshots in the game.
Frank n beans!
Yesterday I traded Estrada and Chris Perez for Wieters.
What would you have said yesterday if I would have asked and would that change today?(I had Avila).
It’s fair… Depends on league size, I say the Estrada side today and yesterday is better…
@Grey: @Grey: Yesterday I traded Estrada and Chris Perez for Wieters.
What would you have said yesterday if I would have asked and would that change today?(I had Avila).
10×10 H2H,12 teams,21 man roster.I grabbed Miller off the wire,so Estrada was my 7th SP.I also have Hamels(ack),JZimm(yay Nats!),Shark,Harvey,Bailey and an one streaming spot(my best friend in times of need.Hey,gotta smoke streaming spot?)See?
@Hondo:
Does that mean I get 2 smokes?
Sounds fine for your league since you were able to get Miller…
@Grey – Jennings is making me smile.
My whole RCL team is today… Go Rays and O’s!
Do you drop Lind for Reimold in a 14-teamer where you’re a bit borderline for power?
@Steve: I like Lind for power, i am assuming this a Util spot and who else is available
@Jack Full of Hate: Yeah, it’s Util, and not much (it’s a keeper).
I’d go Reimold…
@Grey: Not saying I’d take him over Reimold, but what’s your view of Maxwell? 20/20 potential that could hurt your average?
Yeah, agreed… But that’s the best case scenario…. More likely 16/10 with a .220 average…
12 team, got Panda and Chisenhall, looking to drop the Chiz now that Panda is playing and was thinking of grabbing an upside OF, would you go Reimold, Parra, Maxwell, Pollock or stash Taveras (he just got dropped)
I’m leaning toward Reimold or Maxwell, I think if i grab Taveras now, i will end up dropping him in a week anyway
Reimold
@Grey: you and my gut are on the same page
Taquitos?
@Grey: I’ll bring them when i come to the troubador
A Traveling Taquito salesman, eh?
@Grey: Si
@Grey: Seriously, i have had about a half dozen people ask me when, and i keep putting them off. Maybe the mustache is the on for me to get off my lazy ass. On the other hand I make like a 100 every time, so it is a little labor intensive
Maybe you don’t make so many…
@Grey: I usually do it in batches, but the best way to cook the pork is in bulk. Which is not a bad thing cause then we get tacos and some enchilada casserole too
You are the taquito master, I yield to you…
@Grey: with words like that you will have more than strawberry donuts to fish out of the bed of my truck on April 17th…..
Do you like Pickles?
I do… I’d like Estrada to effin’ bear down too…
@Grey: you mean E S T R A D A OR N A D A
I’ll follow up the pickles discussion later
If you’re ever in NYC, The Pickle Guys in the Bowery is amazing…
@Grey: One of my best customers at work is a German pickle Mfg. Shizz is amazing. When I go see them they give me cases. The best are the spicy garlic……wowzzaaaas!
Their brand is also are the house pickles at the red lion in silver lake
Love me some spicy garlics…
@Grey: ill add to the shopping list
Awesome!
@Grey: @Grey: ill add to the shopping list
Awesome!
Been a while since I posted anything…like what you’ve done with the place.
Really yawnstipating question: Looking at my team I could use a little more position flexibility specifically to cover 3B on light game days (like today perhaps) but not crucial. Brett Wallace (hitting 2nd) is on waivers and has 1B,3B in Y!. In your rankings you have him slightly ahead of Yonder (hitting 4th), Denard (hitting 1st), Alejandro (hitting 1st), Cameron (hitting 8th) all of whom are rostered in this 10 x 10 H2H league that counts R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, SB….(and seemingly every other stat under the sun) and knowing that a batters K’s count against you, is it worth dropping say Cameron for Wallace…or just sit tight?
Hey, man, long time! Sure, I could see going to Wallace for runs and average and if you’re fine on speed…
rss link exist? i wanna listen on my phone
@Johnny Haymaker: nvm got it
I got stuck working during one my RCL drafts and missed all but the very end. Actually it didn’t turn out terrible outside of 3 DL’ers, one closer, and a middle infield of Eduardo Diaz and Peralta. Oh and one more thing, stooooopid ESPN drafts Posey and Yadier. I know I should probably just drop Molina, but find it hard to since my team’s AVE is going to be a constant struggle.
You can work waivers in the RCL and fix the team…
@Grey: Yeah it’s not that bad… I’d surprised if I didn’t get a 12 in 4 of the pitching cats. It’s just the 2 catchers and all the DL’ers are tying up my bench spots. I can’t add any shi**y SAGNOF MRs to balloon my ratios. I’m out of my comfort zone!
Ha… Get it, Cole, get it!
Who plugged McGee into his RCL lineup today and erased the good starts provided by Verlander, Cueto, and Kennedy from yesterday? This guy, that’s who (sad trombone)
Damn…
@Grey: McGee’s line vs Baltimore last year – 9 IP, 3 hits allowed, 0 ER, 0 walks, 17 Ks
Today – STATS IP H R ER BB SO WHIP ERA
This Game 0.2 4 5 5 1 1 7.50 67.50
Boy, this beer sure tastes smooth today
Ouch
@Big Magoo: Here’s hoping Dickey can erase that wonderful line from McGee since he’s the only guy to have pitched for me thus far. Thank goodness for setup guys who help your ratios eh?
Must be a deep league to have McGee, eh?
@Grey: That’ll be an RCL where I’m going mostly relievers (for the ratio help oddly enough) a couple top level starters and then streaming the rest.
Here’s hoping it works better the rest of the year than it has today.
@A Hill O’ Beans: Yeah, for real. Nothing like getting roofied by a MR streamer. Drew Storen – you’re up!
Can you rank the following SP?
Iwakuma
Miley
Fiers
Anibal
Griffin
Thanks!
Anibal, Miley, Fiers, Griffin…
Hey Grey,
Yahoo just introduced a NA spot, where it seems like one of the major uses is storing a prospect without taking up a roster spot. With Wil Myers already taken, and my team including Carlos Beltran, Oscar Taveras would be the next logical pick, right? Assume the rest of the major prospects are available too (Profar, Bundy, etc.).
Taveras
Alright! Let’s get Dicked!
@Goose:
…er, um, is this not the correct phrase? Sorry, I guess I’m just excited foR A Dickeying.
Hehe
A mention in one of Grey’s round ups… I have finally arrived. Speaking of running the Twitter feed, when does my first paycheck from Bleacher Report arrive?
They pay us in slideshows.
Why the delay? Some lame ceremony?
Yup
@Grey: 5 x 5 mixed weekly roto. we start 3 OF and i currently have cargo, choo, pence and l. martin. worth swapping martin for cowgill, kubel, quentin or rasmus? i could also keep martin and drop skaggs or cashner for any of the above. thoughts?
Eh, I’d hold for now…
CAN’T FIND A BETTERMAN!
May my singing stay in your head for eternity.
Love it! doo doo doo doo doo doo doo……
I know you’re not a fan of bench bats but would a 10-man bench with a 30-man roster is pretty deep, right? These are my pitching options (to possibly replace Chris Carter and/or Cozart who are my only bench bats right now):
SP EJax, Bud Norris
RP Dotel (I already have Al Al…), Cook, Salas, Pestano, Joel Peralta, David Hernandez
Anyone stand out? I wish there were some more potential save guys available but it seems the waivers are picked pretty thin.
Tim Collins, Herrera, and Carter Capps are some more RPs on my watch list…
I’d keep bench bats with a 10-man bench… Those guys are fine for now since no one is jumping out… Dotel if you really need saves, and lose Cozart…
Def not tonedeaf….you’re just singing from your head…gots to come from the belly…
I actually had a sock puppet on my hand and said puppet was singing…
@Grey: Ha! I thought I smelled something when I was listening….try a clean sock next time…
I can’t wash it or I’ll lose its eyes…
@Grey: HA!
@Wake Up: Would you trade Hanley for Peavy in a keeper?
Nah
@Grey: I know…you’re right…but I can’t get rid of him now….and I hate him
Try for someone like Machado… A bat, at least…
@Grey: Did you guys do a predictions post? Not sure if i missed it…
Nah, we didn’t do one… We did a predictions podcast… Last week…
Nice job on the podcast guys!
“She lies and says she’s in love with Grey, can’t find a Betemit…
She dreams in color, she dreams in red, can’t find a Betemit…
Can’t find a Betemit
Can’t find a Betemit”
Thanks, Budman!
J.”Passed Balls” Arencibia.
Yeah, this is ugly…
Starting to realise that I own more Astros across various teams than may be good for me…
@Steve: Whatever, they’re going to be this years’ A’s! Much to the chagrin of Arte and Co.
@royce!: *year’s
@Steve: And, as mentioned on the podcast, Cedeno is this year’s sleeper pick.
@royce!: Though to be fair, if he could ever stop swinging like a rusty gate, Carter looks like he could really do some damage. The bat looks like a toy in his hands.
Let’s see some Braun brawn!
@Steve: pppffffttt
Yeah, big time pfft there.
How much dough you making on the BleacherReport acquisition? You have an iPad now, must’ve been a lot!
We were paid in slideshows.
Since I can’t find a Betemit…
Want to pick up Sid, I mean Jose Fernandez and Fujikawa. They are worth 3 bucks each in my Salary cap league and i must drop 6 bucks worth of players to obtain…so I do I drop:
Ichiro 8$
Or:
De Aza 2$
Vance Worley 3$
Wei-Yin Chen1$
Or even:
Dillon Gee 5$
Wei-Yin Chen1$
I Already own 5 other outfielders so I am not losing much there, but
I drafted a little light on pitchers so trying to bolster depth. But not sure about actually using Gee, Worley, Wei…
I also noticed ichiro batting seventh yesterday.
it is an OBP league with QS and K/9 innings.
I welcome your thoughts…
Ichiro if you have 5 OFs…
I would have to drop one other player besides Ichiro to make it work.
Gee
Worley
Wei
de Aza
Or Aoki
Even without de Aza and Aoki my outfield consists of…
Stanton
Holliday
Victorino
Beltran
Dunno why I drafted so many outfielders…thanks for your response
Then de Aza too…
He has Asdrubal too? Jesus.
Your opponent?
@Grey: That’s him.
At least it isn’t your sister…
@Grey: He has Cruz too, and sounds like he just got robbed of a dinger.
Not sure, watching Estrada…. Who just gave up a dinger…
That’s the only honest hit I’ve seen off of him.
@Sky: Sounds like Tulo gave him some truth alright. A long home run by all accounts.
I’m fine with solo bombs. Most of the other hits have been fluff.
@Sky: way to jinx him sky… I have Cargo, but still!
Tell him, prezii!
E S T R A D A ! ! !
I heart this man
And that one
In a 6X6 league with OPS. Need to drop either Ichiro or Berkman. Thoughts?
They do different things… Depends what you need… Berkman’s lineup spot looks better…
Tulo = NL MVP
Braun! Whatever it is your taking, keep taking it!
@Steve: He’s just glad to be off the matzoh!
@Steve: roids!!
Holy Darvish. Going nicely.
Grey! Estrada’s curve ball looks nasty tonight…
@Carlos: Definitely… Hes lookin sharp.
Yeah, he’s gonna burned on a few though…
Goldy hitting cleanup today…
Nice…
Steve, could you jinx Darvish a bit?
@Grey: Did you know that Darvish has a perfect game going?
Does it still count in the record books if it’s against the Astros? Will it get an asterisk?
Huh, you don’t say!
@Steve: Got the bastard in the end. You can run but you can’t hide.
Guh Kirk Gibson! Batting Montero 4th and Goldschmidt 5th to break up the righty string is some garbage Dusty Baker shizz.
@chillmodious:
Goldy is hitting cleanup.
@Elijah: Weird. They showed a chyron that listed him in 5th. Parra-Prado-Hill-Montero-Goldy. But I tuned out before they hit the field.
@Grey: who do you think has a better chance of closing this year? kenley or pestano?
Jansen
the touch of jaywrong has changed everything.
yu gotta be kidding me.
You’ve poisoned the world!
@Grey: Even Alonso tee’d off the other day. God only knows what I’ve done…
What’s next? Stigmata? Will Jeff Samardzija cure cancer? The possibilities are endless…
@jaywrong: that would be Samardzija cool if jeff cured cancer!
I have the FBI looking into you, Mr. Wrong.
I think the DraftKings payout is going to come down to people who started Darvish, and people who didn’t.. lol.
Rudy started him…
@Grey: Yeah. And this rdaniels dude is gonna get punched.
I got that Asian SP right. Just picked the 2nd one wrong (Ryu instead of Iwakuma)…would’ve won if I picked Iwakuma…
Starting Maxwell and Carter tonight was really a capital idea…
Yu is dealing…
Well hurrah for accidently drafting Darvish!
Ha, nice!
Don’t think any of us can jinx a perfect game anymore, now that MLB network announces YU DARVISH IS PITCHING A PERFECT GAME in their news ticker
@royce!: huh, may have been mistaken…I did that!
Steve can, don’t underestimate Steve…
@Grey: ha! MLB teams should bid for his blessing, like how the McCourts used to pay a psychic or whatevs…except it would be legit w Steve, obviously
Ha, the Padres have hired on special consultant, Steve. His job will be dealing juju to their opponents.
Finally got that ever elusive second R in the RCL…shizz is looking up!!
Grey! We back in here for 2013! Back like we never left.
Just finished 11 team AL-Only league draft and I think the roster has Razzball’s influence all over it. How’d we do, boss?
C – S. Perez
C – H. Conger
1b – Hosmer
2b – Beckham
3b – Machado
SS – Aybar
CI – Chisenhall
MI – Nunez
OF – Trout
OF – Victorino
OF – Morse
OF – J Bradley
UT – B Wallace
SP – Morrow
SP – Moore
SP – Cobb
SP – Doubront
SP – Tillman
SP – L Harrell
SP – Kazmir
RP – Perkins
RP – Madson
Bench – H. Gimenez
Bench – P. Strop
Bench – Doolittle
Bench – D. Bundy
Bench – Erasmo Ramirez
As you can see I compensated for having a #2 catcher who doesn’t start by taking another one of those. Pissed that I was outbid on Frieri late but the guy was gunning for me all draft after I stole Hosmer for him.
Team looks really solid for AL-Only… Really nice pitching… Hitting looks decent but has more question marks… I like your infield, but it could give you some fits…
F*** you, Mike Morse.
@Steve: Glad I’m not the only one. But it’s fucking Parker’s fault for walking the two guys in front of him. FFS. Don’t make me wish I had Hellickson instead of you, Parker.
Wow…Yu loses the PG with 2 out in the 9th. Doesn’t get any closer than that. Crazy stuff on the 2nd full day of the season.
He felt bad for them and gave em a cookie.. what a guy!
It’s the least Yu could do…
@Grey: Yu really gotta feel bad for the stros….
Yu can’t blame them, Yu gotta blame Ed Wade’s Toupee…
@Grey: Yu are right.. we know why they are where they are… Soo, whats the Marlins excuse?
Yu have to remember Loria…
@Grey: whatt!?? That was not his fault, he even said so himself! Hahaha
*great place for sarcasm font.
Oh snap forgot the pun… YU IDIOT!
Yu’ve got to be kidding?
Ryu serious? Yu know me man, i be smokin that Danks!
Impressive Yu…..
Maurer worth a shot on Thursday? could drop Al Al for him ….
Sure, in some leagues…
Thoughts on this trade:
Giving up: Martinez, Gardner, Shields
Receiving: Rosario, Cliff Le, Soriano
Lee side
@Grey: Thanks!
With the hope that Ryu would do well tonight, I was thinking about titles for tomorrow’s post…started googling “Are You Experienced,” and after “are you…” the second thing google suggested was “are you being served?” Which made me think that the Internet was just trying to remind me how shizzy my teams have been thus far…I’m just sitting here, wondering, did I just get served??? A: yes, I did.
@royce!: It may have also been referring to the long-running British comedy TV series…
Ah! That makes more sense…
@Steve: yeah that makes more sense, though its a shame that usually when I say that, the thing that made less sense was better…
I like the idea of someone hearing knocking on their door then googling to see if they’re being served…
@Grey: and then remarking, “did I just get served?” And if it was a woman who just served process, they’d wonder, “How She Move”?
I know we’ve only had two days of the season, but has anyone uncovered any decent-looking relievers who have SP eligibility?
I’ve seem Smyly and Bedard. And Cashner of course.
Any others? Or heard of any SP guys who will be relieving?
@Steve:
In Yahoo, David Phelps, Garret Richards, Anthony Bass are OK options. Don’t think you want Lowe or Duensing.
@Eddy: It makes me long for the days when Kuo had SP eligibility.
Heath Bell ain’t what he was.
I’m sure someone’s commented on this before but I can’t help it: Heath Bell’s Yahoo profile shot is terrifying.
For a profile, Google image search: jesus grizzly adams painting
Oh my Jesus… Ha!
The stat change to make those last 2 runs unearned for Ryu was a great feeling. Season saved! Not the best night with Estrada and Ryu but whatever. Estrada got the K’s and Ryu proved he can pitch…and give up a shizton of hits. His stuff looked OK to me though.
@Grey: Rosenthal looks pretty nasty. Is he next in line after Boggs?
Irony: Pete Kozma HR off Heath Bell’s first D-Backs appearance.
Also, uh, Mariners actually having a productive offense?
Also, uh, uh, Jay > Hicks?
One of my favorite things about the beginning of the season is the free week-long MLB-TV trial I always get via cable.
Where else am I going to be able to hear the Giants color guy say that Ryu has been “up to his armpits in crocodiles”?
Or both Giants commentators get REALLY excited about Marco Scutao?
Also, the Diamondback’s color guy is *really* excited for you to know that you can “follow us on the Twitter”.
@Nathan: Yu gotta admit Bum looked more dominate vs LA than Darvish vs the AAAstros
Mike effing Morse. Someone remind me of why I play h2h again?
Go tribe! Go actual baseball. Thank you felix, asdrubal, utley, adam jones, betancourt and frieri for starting me off nicely.
Hey grey – just found out my cbs league uses a weekly format not a daily one. There are also NO dl spots. Does this suck or is this manageable? I can’t dl lowrie (which sucks) and now only have one bench hitter (gardner) as a bench hitter. I don’t want to drop lawrie. You know why?
Can’t find a better man! I’m in a pearl jam.
Love the podcasts. Am I the only one who wishes the theme song was still played at the end? Gimme that and much less DraftKings nonsense and I’d be one happy camper!
Thanks!
Hey Grey, I’m in a 10 person h2h espn points league. Are any of these guys worth dropping for Fernandez?
Brandon Morrow
Hiroki Kuroda
A.J. Burnett
Brandon League
Grant Balfour
Thanks in advance for the advice.
Question for Rudy…You said you don’t keep any bench room for batters early in the year so you can pick up closers as they come about. Is this for trade bait or a strategy only for teams that need closers?
Right now I have J.Johnson, B. League, K. Jansen, and just picked up Fukijawa. Rosenthal is there as well as a few others but I would need to drop either Dominic Brown, Starling Marte, Josh Rutledge, Shelby Miller, Julio Tehran, or Everth Cabrera. Is three closers enough in head to head and would you drop any of these guys? Razzball is the shizz!
You’re best to try and reach him in one of his posts…
@Grey: Thanks I’ll try that…What do you think about the question I had? Thanks for your help.
You have enough closers for now…
