It was trade-a-palooza for the final few days of the Razzball Commenter Leagues trade season. We had a whopping 20 trades get accepted in the final days. Ya’ll were busy! Vin collected a slew of trade data for us, but on the season, RCL 19 had the most trades with 11. RCL 30 and COUGS R US, our Champions League, were right there with ten each. We finished the year with 142 trades involving 383 players, 208 of those unique. That is down 30 trades from last year, but last year we were up 60 trades on the previous year, so I think we just found level water here. Despite all those trades, there were still eight leagues with zero trades. What a shame. We’ll dive in a little deeper as well as look at the rest of the stats from the week that was, week 20:
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
We had some big movers in the Perts league this week, but none bigger than Son, who picked up ten points and moved up four places to sixth overall. The middle of the Perts league is so closely packed, you can move from fourth to eighth just by gaining a point or two. Son just added to the clutter in the middle of the week. More on his team later in the write-up, but it will be interesting to see if he can make a late season push, something I’m also attempting. I gained a mere 3.5 points this week to move up three places to fourth. Let’s see if I can stick around this time. Knoche was the source of lost points this week, dropping six and falling to tenth place. Mike C lost a point, but Itch lost three, so Mike’s lead grew to six points with seven weeks to go!

You will notice no one from Team Razzball in this grouping. Just goes to show how much luck is involved in winning these big tournaments. Standings are updated, and we have a new overall leader! On the ECFBL chat the other day, we were all (maybe reverse jinxing Retro Vertigo) congratulating him on the win. No one is ever up this big in ECFBL at this point in the season, but RV has seemed to draft the perfect team. ECFBL is always a brutal league to win, with everyone fighting until the bitter end. For this reason, it’s very difficult to pull off an overall championship from this league. Backdoor Splitters did it in 2019, and we’ve had a couple second place finishers over the years (including Retro Vertigo in 2013). I would love to see RV take this down, he’s a great manager I’ve had the pleasure of playing with for *gulp*, 14 years. Yes, we are ancient. Congrats, RV, and I hope you can hold on.
There`s a drive into deep left field had a nice month as well, keeping pace and moving into second place overall while 1DraftDodgers held firm in third overall.
I’ve played in several leagues with Mr Big & Bud Goode over the past few seasons, I feel like they always seek out the money leagues with me, and they are no slouch! I’ve been unable to track them down in RCL 34 and am just hoping for that second place cash now.
Drop Zone Players gained ten places this month to blast into the top ten, landing in fifth with Man or Stroman? right behind, gaining five places to slide into sixth overall.
Low-End Seamster and I are making life difficult for DFresh in RCL 19. DFresh dropped 8 spots to ninth overall while I gained 25 spots and Seamster gained a whopping 47, moving us both right outside the top ten, hoping to break in soon.
Bellow, from RCL 4 was another massive mover, picking up 50 spots to land in 19th overall.

The bulk of the update this week is right here. So many deals in the final days! None look too crazy. Teams unloading unneeded starters and closers as they creep up on IP limits. Those are the deals that are just totally needs-based, which is what you want right now. You have to make up ground in certain categories to try to win. Kangaroo Court has been chilling in the middle of the pack in DFSers all year and made a flurry of moves to try to make *something happen. I like it. Not gonna win resting on your laurels. Turns out the Stowers for Hunter Greene deal could just be a drop for a drop though, unfortunately.

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

League: Perts League
Stats: AVG: .258, R: 40, HR: 17, RBI: 48, SB: 5
IP: 63.2, ERA: 0.99, WHIP: 0.848, K: 72, W: 7, SV: 5
Summary: Son and I are battling in Perts, but we were also battling for TOW. My team, The Sneetches, was neck and neck with Son down the stretch, but those ratios and the K/9 put Son over the top. He was 0.01 from leading the RCLs in ERA this week. Pitching definitely carried Son here, with 12 decisions and both ratios under one! Jesus Luzardo led the starting staff with a win and 19 strikeouts in his two games. Logan Webb also won one of his two starts, allowing just one run in 14 innings. Drew Rasmussen and
Framber Valdez each threw seven shutout innings in their victories, while Jacob deGrom struck out nine in five innings for another win. As for the bullpen, David Bednar picked up a win and two saves, while Emilio Pagan (2 Saves) and Grant Taylor (1 Save) combined for five scoreless innings. And Aaron Ashby struck out eleven in five innings over four appearances, earning his 13th win of the year along the way (and Son has counted them all, having drafted Ashby in the 22nd round.) Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson each blasted three long balls to pace the offense. Angel Martinez was added on Thursday and, in three games, delivered a homer and eight ribbies. Son is a moves machine, and it paid off here. Matt McLain, Kyle Tucker, and Trent Grisham each homered twice. Ezequiel Duran hit .381 and contributed a home run and a stolen base. Jose Caballero has lost playing time, but he also chipped in a home run and a steal. As mentioned above, the big week pushed Son up from tenth to a tie for fifth, gaining 10.5 points, and is now right in the thick of the race. What a week.
