Happy All-Star break, everyone!  Hope you’re enjoying the restful week, or at the very least are spending it staring at all your Razzball Commenter Leagues rosters and wondering what went wrong.  Just me?  Maybe the World Cup can fill the void.  Has everyone caught soccer fever?  Is your algorithm filled with as much Erling Haaland as mine is?  Maybe the 17-hour home run derby will be the replacement we all need?  Has the derby run its course?  Is it time to introduce a skills competition instead?  Maybe we fill the outfield with targets, use a pitching machine, and treat this like Top Golf?  There’s got to be something else we can mix in.

Post Derby edit: That was actually awesome!  Nevermind, do not change.

Despite no baseball scores, we still have lots of stats to cover from the past week, and it’s a good time to check in on our season-long leaders.  Next week’s update will only be for three days, so expect a smaller version.  This week, however, we’re jumbo-sized.  Let’s get to it!

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

It was a pretty wild week in the Perts League as we head into the ASB.  The Itch took over first place after a three week hiatus.  Itch actually lost a point, but still had a 7.5 point lead over Mike C as Mike went ice cold this week and dropped an astounding 14.5 points.  A meager five homer week is mostly to blame, along with a 5.31 ERA and a 1.534 WHIP.  The biggest gainer of the week was me, with ten points gained, which must have meant I was very close to Mike in several categories, because I only led the league in Runs and didn’t have a very remarkable week.  Son picked up 7.5 points and led the league in HRs and average.  We each gained one spot in the standings.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

That is a wrap on regular season play.  If you finished in the top two of your league, congratulations!  You have advanced to the Championship Bracket.  If you finished 3-5, congrats to you too!  You earned a spot in the Consolation bracket!  Everyone else…RazzBowl signups are happening NOW.  I expanded to the top 20, plus one to get an extra Razzball writer some love, plus I wanted my name highlighted as Kevin Hasting, and I finished for a dead tie in our league 1190.  Todd Clark finishes the regular season as the top team, congratulations!  Daniel Craig was our biggest mover this week, gaining 688 points in the nick of time.  Erik Erhardt was the biggest jumper, picking up 30 places to move into 88th place thanks to 654 points gained.  Again, great time to have a big week.

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

Eight trades this week involving 18 players. That brings our season total to 91 trades involving 256 players (167 unique players). Bo Bichette was traded for the fifth time this week.  No one wants to keep this guy.  MarmosDad and I made a swap, you’ll hear more about that on Thursday when Marmos will be the lede article for the day.  Long story short, I’m doing anything I can to gain points, and my ratios are a train wreck there.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Gracie Cashman Nepotastic

League: RCL 7

Stats:   AVG: .289, R: 53, HR: 17, RBI: 56, SB: 11

IP: 66.2, ERA: 2.43, WHIP: 0.99, K: 67, W: 5, SV: 2

Summary: Ben Rice was the hitting star with a .423 average, five home runs, and twelve driven in. GCN acquired Rice (and Austin Riley) back in April for Paul Skenes. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Jose Caballero each popped two long ones and drove in six. Caballero also stole two bases. Carson Benge hit .375 with a homer and four steals, along with a team-high seven runs scored. Jonathan Aranda matched Rice’s .423 average and chipped in a homer and six ribbies. Taj Bradley led the stellar pitching staff with 16 strikeouts and two wins. He allowed just two runs and ten baserunners in 14 innings. Cam Schlittler was almost as good, earning a win and striking out 14 while giving up two runs in 14.2 IP. Dylan Cease (8 shutout innings/11K) and Michael King also notched victories. Cade Smith picked up two saves and struck out six in four innings.  The big week added nine points and moved GCN up from 7th to 4th.

Matt,

Absolutely terrific write up,as always. Sure makes the RCLS from elite to elite +! Thanks for making it that much more interesting, along with the rest of Razzball. As someone said in the past, “Reading these weekly write ups is much more interesting, now that I am involved in a league.” I agree.

(Trix McGee, 2nd most mosts made at 327, over the max of 500 in pace , aaaah!!

Good luck all.

Hi Mike,

Always appreciate your help!

RE; Yahoo points 10 team league
Would appreciate your insight on possible trades.

C;William Contreras
1B: Casey Schmitt
2B: Curtis Mead
3B; Max Muncy
SS: Gunnar Henderson
LF:Jack Bauers
CF: Trout
RF: Jake McCarthy
DH: Alonso
Bench:
Acuna IL
Kurtz IL
Wilyer Abreu
AJ Ewing
Austin Riley
SP;
Cam Schlittler
Logan Gilbert
Jacob Degrom IL
Carlos Rodon IL
Frember Valdez
Parker Messick
Payton Tolle
Trevor Rogers
Will Warren
Ryan Weathers
Christian Scott
Peter Lambert

In points , McCarthy is top 11 in points for all LF with 227 points (only 8 behind Schwarber), Bauers is 12 th with 225 points, Schmitt is 13 with 216 points and Wilyer Abreu is 24th with 194 points.

I think that it would be best to upgrade my SP. Thoughts?
One manager has Sonny Grey (288) and Wroblewski (269). Another manager has Joe Ryan (268).
On paper, Tolle and Lambert have 382 together. Their top LF has 198.
Would you offer McCarthy or Abreu plus Tolle and Lambert for Wroblewski or Ryan?

What trade would you offer?

Thanks so much!!!!

Was curious/worried about what Truss was going to say about our trade in Original Recipe. Thankfully for me it went under the radar!

Good to know I wasn’t completely crazy! Now let’s see if getting a closer is going to help me at all. There’s such a big gap in saves between me and the next guy.
