Fresh off the Aaron Judge Schmohawk backlash, Grey Albright AKA “The Fantasy Master Lothario” returns for another week of “Grey’s rankings on audiobook” otherwise known as the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. This week on the show Mr. Albright and I dig into the top 40 Outfielders for 2018 Fantasy Baseball. Listen as we go player by player through Grey’s outfield ranks. We talk Aaron Judge, J.D. Martinez’s fit in Fenway, is Tommy Pham overrated? We play Starling Marte vs. Andrew Benintendi, and then I blow my top discussing my love for both Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain. We in fact cover 40 outfielders on this show, so strap in and get ready for the speed sermon. Finally, please make sure to support our sponsor by heading over to RotoWear.com and entering promo code “SAGNOF” for 20% off the highest quality t-shirts in the fantasy sports game. Man, the sounds is awful!
@Grey: Oops, forgot to post under different name
@Grey: Hahahaha! No background noise or peeing on this episode.
Damn, we sound like the semi-pros we are!
@Grey: Boom!
I’m taking my first try at fantrax. The pitching limit is 162 starts. If I roster a RP who has SP eligibility in the SP that would never count to the 162 starts right?
Will you have an updated top 100 prospects or do we follow your end of 2017 list?
@Sport: Yes they wouldn’t count toward the starts.
I’m going to release one in a couple of weeks. Trying to finish all the systems. The list this year is going to be the deepest yet.
@Ralph Lifshitz: Can’t wait. And being fantrax with deeper rosters makes it even more fun. Thanks for all you do. I can’t imagine how much time you put into everything.
@Sport: It’s a lot of fun, glad I have someone to listen to all my bull.
DOmingo Santana’s adp is barely dropping though he doesn’t have a place to play as of now. He’s too good to go into the season as a 4th outfielder so I’m confident they have to deal him but not enough to draft him where he’s going, Please remind me that there are safer plays in my draft and you yourself wouldn’t draft him at 86.
@I’m so high!: There’s likely safer plays. Some fluky stuff in his profile too. BUT! He hits the ball very hard, and runs well. I think he figures it out. Don’t hate him at 86.
JUDGE IS MY FATHER, STOP BASHING HIM!!!
Sorry, Randy Judge.
@Grey: At least Yahoo has him ranked number 1..
Which one would you keep (12-team, NL only, OBP league)?:
Justin Turner – 19
Anthony Rizzo – 37
Luis Castillo – 10
Darvish – 15
R. Iglesias – 17
Already keeping – C. Seager, Arenado, Harper, R. Ray.
@hooydonck: If you can swing it keep Rizzo.
I took over a dynasty team o fantrax and there were a few names on the minor’s list you might be able to help me with. Trey Ball of Boston and Jesse Biddle of Atlanta. The cupboard is empty on this team so I have a ton of work to do. I do have the first pick in the draft so I hope to start loading up on prospects.
@Sport: Drop those dudes.
AL only 10 teamer. QS over wins, holds added. OBP over AVG, total bases added. keep 3 at previous season’s ADP prices. most other 1st round type players are kept.
correa (1)
snell (12th)
morton (19th)
devers (25th)
k.davis (5th)
segura (3rd)
mancini (25th)
mostsuckass (if he goes to AL, gotta think KC nabs him now to avoid being the bar none worst offense in baseball, 10th)
kiermaier (9th)
delmonico (25th)
if multiple from same round one has to move up one round
seems mancini/devers are easy yeses, who’s the last keeper
@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: I’d keep Correa inthe first, that’s easy value for him to retain in 12 team AL only. He ain’t going anywhere.
@Ralph Lifshitz: that and there probably won’t be many 1st round value types even available, teams tend to keep 1st round types if they still hold 1st round value. outside of jd mart/stanton who’ll almost certainly be top 2 draft picks (along with the otanis).
@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: Correa then seems like a no brainer.
10 team league, 7×7 w/ QS, K/9, TB & OBP… We can keep up to 4 players for a total of 20 dollars.
My options are…
Arenado – $7*
Bellinger – $2
Rendon – $5
Syndergaard – $8*
Ray – $1
Pham – $2
Conforto – $2
*Last year of control
@longbeachyo: Arenado, Bellinger, Rendon, and Ray. K/9 puts Ray over Pham for me.
Dynasty… Buxton or Acuna?
@Smoooth jimmy: Also separate Dynasty league…
Torres or cespedes
@Smoooth jimmy: Dynasty go Gleyber.
@Smoooth jimmy: Give me Acuna and the advanced hit tool, better power, and a little less speed.
Ralph, a little update :
Tatis Jr, has not gotten another hit since the HR. He is 1 for 11 in four games.
Urias is 3 for 6 , with 3 2B . I have seen the first two and they almost left the park to RF.
He keeps moving up on my draft list.
Guess who is celebrating his 18th birthday today in camp? “Gabriel Arias”
Does this kid ever rest? He just finished playing in Australia in mid January. He went home took a shower, had a home cooked meal and left for ST. I noticed in the stats that he has played in two games, has three ABs , two Ks and a BB.
@jose: yeah Tatis isn’t ready yet. But he’s going to be great.
Urias could start at 2B for them right now. I wonder when he’s up.
That kid is putting in serious work.
Hey Ralph, nearing cut down day in my dynasty league. Could use some help on who to drop. 14 team with a 14 player minor league system. Most everyone of value is already owned and kept. Starting Pitching is hard to get. Who in your opinion gets the boot? Pete Alonso, Matt Schrock, Raul Mondesi, Chris Shaw, Khalil Lee, Mike Foltynewich, Andrew Heaney, Nick Neidert and Ryan Yarbrough are on the chopping block. Any no brainer drops or keeps here? I like a few more than others. Thank you in advance.
@Grandmaster B: To me it’s easy Yardborough.
Rudy
Looking for Dynasty advice.
Can you rank sp
Snell
Weaver
Berrios
Giolitio
@Espn writer looking for advice: I ain’t Rudy, but I do have an afro. Different place though.
Berrios, Weaver, Snell, Giolito
Zig when they zag, thinking of a little Lima plan this year, making Keuchel my first SP and utilizing Middle relievers and STACKING up on hitters, thoughts?
@MAGAman: It’s not an awful idea depending on format, I’d like someone with more Ks, but it can work. Mostly in an RCL.
20 team h2h dynasty. 25 man active rosters but we can protected list up to 10 players that are either NA in yahoo right now (unsigned guys or prospects with little to no chance of being up right now), guys who fit standard prospect at bats/innings (130/50) or are likely to start year in minors from best depth chart (rosterresource). i’m TEX and need at all times at least 9 of them in either DL or active slots . extra stats like defensive stuff (putouts/assists/outfield assists/double plays) and pitcher stuff like QS/holds, K/9, relief wins, complete games, shutouts, double plays, relief appearances, OBPA. also OPS, BB’s hits. from rules intended to prevent pitcher hoarding at MOST one of our 4 BN slots can be a pitcher, but of course optimally that’s your 6th SP slot. right now i cannot do that it appears. i have some sicko prospects stashed that it sure appears i need to move for either draft pick (to stash more prospects) or SP, or maybe holds guy, but that last seems too low for dahl or brinson. 5 DL. during season we also have 10 NA slots.
C chirinos
1B gallo (3B/LF)
2B odor
SS andrus
3B beltre (i thought he’d be retired by now, gotta be soonish)
LF desmond (1B)
CF blackman
RF stanton
util (1) calhoun (LF)
BN choo (RF), mazara (LF/RF)
SP (5 slots) archer/darvish/morton/ryu/j.urias (gets DL’d later)
RP (7 slots, for the first time in years i am good at closer with maybe too many): morrow/giles/claudio/kela/peacock (he’s worth holding even while being a RP)
obvious drops: cargo 2 (TB), e.escobar (he’s maybe a better version of similar MI types in FA from time to time), j.mccann,
possibly protected guys: cobb (unless signs by the 3rd),
-brinson LF/CF (under at bats, but when year starts will need to come up as he will be in real life),
-dahl (over at bats, but rosterresource shows in minors so he could be stashed for now at least)
-napoli (could have trade value to the CLE guy if not easy drop)
– eloy jim (possibly insane trade value to WSOX), mejia (same on the CLE trade value), leody taveras, puk, y.mendez
– other possible RP keepers (i have room for at most 2 of these assuming peacock is kept 3 if i hold only 3 BN hitters and move peacock into being my 6th SP): mcgee/alexander/phelps/hildenberger/leclerc
1. right now i have room for picking 3 prospects (active keepers at 22/25th) if everybody putdownable is put down. do that or hold any/which of those RP?
2. trade which of brinson/dahl first for either draft pick(s) or RP?
3. got a trade offer of dahl for merrifield. do this or no? i am super OF deep and need to get value from probably one of dahl or brinson (or just drop choo and have maybe minimum 9 TEX guys but he’s leading off so value)
Is there an eta for your pre season prospect rankings ?
@Julius: Two weeks from Sunday. I don’t want to halt the systems to release a top 100. Plus it will be more up to date into the season with some spring looks.
That said, there hasn’t been wild fluctuation in my top 100 since October.
Which 3 to keep 16 team, ops/QS league:
K. Lewis, Trammell, A. Hays, Luzardo, I. Diaz, C. Adams
