Unfortunately, Play With Rudy Tonight, my sitcom pitch to NBC, got turned down.  I didn’t even get to go through my treatment, I got the ax just with the title. If that wouldn’t have brought in ratings to the flailing network, I don’t know what would. Oh, let’s do another singing show. Just Shoot Me.

If you missed it last week, our friends over at DraftKings are holding their Razzball exclusive Razzball’s Play with Rudy Shot at $50k which begins at 7:07 PM EST tonight.  If you’re still new to DraftKings, it’s a sick daily league fantasy site where you can enter all sorts of contests for just a buck or two all the way to the high roller contests where you can win 6-figures.  Entry to our exclusive Razzball contest is only $5 and the winner gets entered to win $50,000 in their huge $150,000 Walk-Off contest on April 12th (a $200 value).  As Billy Zane would say, “It’s a Walk-off!”  “Put a cork in it Zane!”  The Play With Rudy pits you against our own Rudy Gamble to pick the best daily lineup for tonight’s action.  And it’s limited to only 50 entrants and 27 spots are currently filled, so you gotta sign up fast!  Even if you don’t get the best roster, spots 2-10 will double their money and win $10 and 11-20 will break even and win $5.  So you’ve got a great shot to win!

Here’s some guys I like tonight to make Rudy The Biggest Loser (enough NBC puns already!):

Asdrubal Cabrera ($4,300) – Bats 1.000 on R.A. Dickey.  So what if it’s one at bat?  Too small a sample?  Fine!  Has a hit in three straight opening days.  Still too small a sample?!  Sheesh you’re demanding!  I think Dickey could struggle a tad in his debut and Cabrera as a switch hitter will have a good shot to get a few hits.  Dickey gave up a .020 higher average to lefties last year and his K:BB ratio of 108:36 vs. lefties/122:18 vs. righties in 2012 has me excited for Cabrera, a good patient hitter.

Adam Lind ($3,400) – Career 5-15 against Justin Masterson and a guy I like for a possible homer.  He’ll be hitting behind that great Toronto lineup and is a good cheap option for some power and plentiful RBI opportunities.  This is why DraftKings is such a fun site; you don’t have to hold onto Lind all year like you would in an AL-only.

Carlos Gomez ($3,900) – It’s never a good sign when on your first swing of the season you lose your bat into the stands, but that happened!  I am a huge Brewers fan, so I watched every pitch yesterday, and quick spoiler alert, John Axford WILL NEVER be on my recommendations, unless you play a 0 x 1 league and that 1 category is K/9.  Gomez had a flare that should’ve been a single but Alex Gonzalez thought it was going to be caught and got thrown out at second making it a force out, then the formerly free-swinging Gomez worked a long count in the 9th and hit a 3-2 flyball to the opposite field wall that needed another 3 feet to go out.  He looks dialed in.  Plus he crushes lefties and gets Jorge De La Rosa tonight.  Love him.

Yu Darvish ($12,000) – Look, I know he’s one of the most expensive buys, but I think he’s a lock for a huge opener.  I don’t think anyone outside of the greater Houston area believes anything they saw on opening night was a harbinger of a good offensive team and Darvish was dialed in all spring.  Darvish vs. Houston looks like one of the best pitcher matchups all opening week.  Spend the extra dollar.

Yoenis Cespedes ($5,000) – Why his Yahoo profile picture is so small, no one will ever know, but it’s hilarious when compared to other players.  He looks like a gnome.  Went 0-4 yesterday, but I think bounces back tonight against Hishashi Iwakuma, who Cespedes is 2-4 against with a double and a homer.  Truthfully, I think he’ll just be happy knowing King Felix isn’t pitching.

Hunter Pence ($3,900) – Hits a home run against lefties 4.8% of at-bats vs. 3.7% against righties in his career.  Gets newcomer lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu, who I doubt will be able to come close to replicating Kershaw’s gem yesterday.  Pence isn’t too expensive and a guy I like to have a nice game for the Giants.

If you have any other guys on your radar, shoot some comments below and destroy Rudy like a Chicago Fire.  I thought no more NBC puns!
