Stop me if you’ve heard this before but Colorado is playing at home and that’s a good thing for your DraftKings team.  Yes, duh to the derp degree.  We knows it now!  With that said, you’re always looking for a way to get in on that action on the cheap.  Tulo?  He’s too high at $5,400.  CarGo?  Car Go bye bye at $5,700.  And even Blackmon is nearing blackout territory at $4,600.  What’s a playa to do?  Well, you start looking at matchups and realize Madison Bumgarner is on the mound for today.  Let me indulge you with something you either already know or could look up: MadBum is an LHP.  Just in case you’re five and reading this – and you shouldn’t be, you have been advised – that doesn’t stand for Lego Harry Potter.  Nay, we’re talking left-handed pitchers and that’s one of the few types of pitchers Drew Stubbs has handled well for most of his career.  You see, little Stubby may have issues against righties but he’s handled the southpaw quite well for his career.  In 618 career at-bats, Drew has 24 HRs while hitting .273.  Now I’m no soothsayer but given that Michael Cuddyer is on the DL, I’d be surprised if the Rockies didn’t give Drew a day in right field and bat him in the two hole.  At first, I thought this was lunacy on my part but then asked the Hitter-Tron what he had to say and he ranked him 18th overall for outfielders on the day.  And then he asked me about my tail pipe and I left the room as fast as possible.  You nasty, ‘Tron!  Anywho, even though the Stream-O-Nator is ok with Madison in Coors, I think we all know the drill here.  Get in on the cheap and if he’s in the starting lineup, peeps, cuz that’s the Sweet Spot…oh, did I just drop a promo mid-sell on Stubbs?  Yes I did.  Check the link if you’d like to win around $100K.  You know, no biggie.  With that said, let’s move along.  Here are some other picks for today’s DraftKings contests for 2014 Fantasy Baseball…

Brandon Barnes, OF: $2,900 – Wanna know what I’m about?  I’m about-face!  This is me pointing out that maybe, just maybe, the Rockies roll with Barnes today.  I can only soothsay so much.

Carlos Gonzalez, OF: $5,700 – I’m simply putting this here on the off-chance you actually have $5,700 clams lying around on your DFS team.  But in that off-chance you do, CarGo has a .364/.432/.909 slashline against MadBum in 33 ABs with 5 HRs.  CarGo Vroom, my friends.

Anthony Rizzo, 1B: $4,200 – I’m tired of talking about Rockies players.  You know that I know that we know it’s an offensive hotbed.  Let us move on and take a peek somewhere else, shall we?  Rizzo has been fairly locked in of late, is at home and gets to face a guy with a 7.11 ERA in a hitter’s park.  You need another reason?  Fine, you can rap ‘R’ to the ‘izzo’ when he spanks one out.

Andrew McCutchen, OF: $4,700 – After a night in which Andrew went 3/3 with with 2 walks and a HR, why am I not fading him?  Because in 43 career ABs against Johnny Cueto he has 3 HRs and a .512 slugging percentage.  Sufficient reasoning?  Thought so.  Get in on that Pirate booty.

Nicholas Martinez, SP: $5,500 – Yeah, I’m not suggesting him.  I’m suggesting a Phat Stack yo!  Yeah, Phat is now in a real dictionary that doesn’t start with ‘Urban’ at the beginning.  I don’t know how I feel about this.  Let me ponder for a bit.  While I do, fill up on Athletics hitters.

Jose Fernandez, SP: $12,000 – Plenty of aces on the mound today but I like Jo-Fer’s set up the best.  Braves are still near the bottom shelf for team K rates.  Take a nice, long swig.

Tommy Milone, SP: $6,600 – I see you penny-pinching.  Let me help.  Milone has had a rocky year so far but in 176.2 career innings pitched in the O.Co, Milone has a 3.21 ERA.  There might be a sneaky 4 to 5 K start in here with a W over 6 to 7 innings.  Don’t start if you have heart troubles or if you have issues with Italian gangster movies.

Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP: $9,400 – I’m officially fading this matchup.  It seems right on paper.  But what I also see is that Philly has been fine against LHP so far this year and I don’t want to test the waters to prove it wrong.  Call me chicken if you want to.  Just put me on an organic free-range farm if you do, please.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

BOSvsNYY is looking pretty dicey as of this typing with a extremely likely chance of a rainout.  If that’s not true, load up on Yanks as they’re straight raking against LHP so far this year.

NYMvsSTL has some similar East coast weather problems.  You’ll live without getting in here so move along.

PITvsCIN has no weather problems…unless you’re a pitcher.  Current wind projections out to RF are at 15 MPH.  Ike Davis?  Check.  Pedro AlvarezDiscount Dooooouble check.

Doing Lines In Vegas

COLvsSF at 9 1/2 for the day which just makes me shake my head.  10 1/2 yesterday but a run lower today?  Because MadBum is really gonna shut these guys down I guess?  Rhetorical?  Sarcasm?  I don’t even know anymore.  As I’ve already covered, you know what to do here.  Get in on the cheap on both sides of the home/away slate here.

BOSvsNYY is at 7 1/2 and I’m saying over here.  Like I mentioned earlier, Yanks have been all over lefty pitching so far.  Be wary, Jon Lester starters today.  You might get moLestered.
