It’s that time of year again! No, I’m not talking about back to school, or even football season. It’s that time of year when baseball teams clinch playoff berths and then get wastey-faced while wearing swimming goggles. Basically, everyone on the team acts like Michael Phelps at a frat party (sans the bong hits). Baseball is awesome when you’re good. The hangover from these celebrations usually results in teams resting their regulars the next day (unless there are still home field advantage implications), so keep tabs on the champagne getting sprayed in the clubhouse. You don’t want to roster any of those hitters the next day, and it’s a pretty good idea to pounce on the opposing starting pitcher. I don’t think any magic numbers will be in play for a few days, so let’s put the diabolical schemes aside for now, and focus on some GPP value plays for tonight.

Phil Hughes, SP: $9,000 – He isn’t really a value play, but Hughes is probably the most appealing SP on a bland menu. This is only the second start of the season for Hughes against the Indians, but the first one went pretty well (W, 7 IP, 1 ER, 8 K). He’s also averaged more than 25 DK points over his last 8 starts. I’m going to stop typing now.
Mark Trumbo, 1B/OF: $4,600 – Trumbo has homered thrice off Jordan Lyles in his career, and he has homered thrice at Coors Field this year. Trumbo will be facing Lyles for the first time ever at Coors tonight, where he also holds a 1.362 OPS in 22 AB. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
Kyle Seager, 3B: $4,000 – Nooooooo … Seager’s undeserved 2B eligibility is no more on DK, but I still like him at the hot corner (I guess). If you’ve read my articles this year; first off, I’m sorry, but second, I’ve only recommended Seager at home against RHP (where he rakes). Well, Seager owns a .938 OPS in Houston this season and is 6-for-18 lifetime versus Brad Peacock, so there you go.
Wilmer Flores, 2B/SS: $2,900 – After 3 dongs and 10 RBI in the last week, Flores might have clinched himself the Mets’ MVP award. OK, not really, but dude is red-hot, and he’s also 1-for-1 lifetime versus Julio Teheran, and yes, the hit was a HR. Owned!
Billy Hamilton, OF/SS: $4,200 – Oh Billy, Billy, Billy … this is a biggie. I quote Caddyshack whenever I can. Anyways, I also feel some swipes coming tonight for Hamilton against John Lackey, who is top-10 in SB allowed this season. Just get on base, dude.
Jason Heyward, OF: $4,000 – He’s in a bit of a hole (3 for his last 15), but Heyward has honed-in on Zack Wheeler, registering 7 hits in 19 career AB (2 HR).
