I have a hunch that any baseball player in an Orioles’ jersey in Houston on Thursday is going to have a big night. Sure, I’m referring to all the big leaguers, but also to any potential little guys running around with the big orange bird on their chest. If any little league teams are the Orioles, trust me, you’ll want to invite all your friends and family to the game tomorrow. It should be a good one, and the guys at the MLB level should mirror that. I’ll break down what the O’s have to offer below, or ‘bel-O’ if you want to keep with theme. Personally, I think it’s a tad much, but you seemed inclined. Let’s move on before this gets O-verly crazy, ok?
New to DraftKings? Scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond? Well reserve your spot in the 25 Team Razzball Exclusive League set to run Monday May 30th to wet your DK whistle. Just remember to sign up through us before you do. It’s how we know you care! If you still feel helpless and lonely, be sure to subscribe to the DFSBot for your daily baseball plays.
Joe Ross, SP: $8,100 – I’ve always liked Joe Ross. Maybe it was because it was a second chance for a Ross to reach the potential that Tyson so tantalizingly taunted us with. The Cardinals chip away and score some runs, but they also strike out, and I’m putting a lot of faith in the younger Ross in this one.
Kevin Gausman, SP: $9,300 – Kevin Gausman has that little league look to him. He goes out there with the sweet spectacles and then just throws hard. I remember the days of wearing the specs on the bump and throwing hard. Mind you, I did not throw nearly as hard as Goose, as I’ve decided to call the aforementioned Kevin Gausman, but it’s the thought that counts.
Jonathon Lucroy, C: $3,400 – This just seems like too low a price for a guy who is regarded as one of the best hitting catchers in baseball. He hits line drives to every part of the field, and should do so today.
Chris Davis, 1B: $3,800 – Another orange bird has made his way onto our roster; Chris Davis is more like the kid in little league who had hit puberty about five years before everyone else. Sort of like the kids at the LLWS who throw 80 and are 6’5″. That’s Chris Davis in a nutshell; he even pitched once in a big league game, so it’s not as crazy as it seems.
Jonathon Schoop, 2B: $3,300 – This third bird moved his way into the two hole Wednesday, and fantasy owners have to hope it sticks. He’s the sneaky littler guy who everyone underestimates who hits the house across the street.
Manny Machado, 3B: $4,100 – Manny Machado is the God’s gift to baseball kid. He just seems to always make plays that win ballgames, and he can help you win on DraftKings.
Jonathon Villar, SS: $3,600 – We’ve made it to the speed demon that literally never got throw out in little league because well, he’s faster than the little dudes can throw the ball.
Bryce Harper, OF: $4,800 – Yeah, Bryce probably pimped home runs in little league. He also was probably the best player where he played, and oh yeah, he played with Joey Gallo. Cool stuff.
Jackie Bradley, Jr., OF: $4,000 – It would be fun to see JBJ keep his streak alive, so get him in your lineup and root him on as he tries to do just that.
Carlos Gonzalez, OF: $3,900 – Cargo just had the sweet swing that made everyone in little league wish they could hit lefty. Let him sweetly swing his way to lots of points for you.
I’m Only Happy When it Rains
I always questioned the title to this section. I mean, rain is lame regardless, but then when it messes with baseball, well that’s motivation to fight. Thursday sees risk in the STL-WAS game, along with the CWS-KC game. Play the boys in these games with caution, especially our favorite younger Ross brother.
Doing Lines in Vegas
Colorado and Boston are the teams you want to attack here, as the over/under in their game is 9.5. This is mostly due to weak pitching, so I’d avoid Jon Gray and Buchholz at all costs. Other than that, go with your gut and build your ideal little league team.
That’s all for today; here’s hoping your 6’5″ 12 year old pitcher doesn’t turn out to be 15 after you win in Williamsport.
