We are extremely grateful for all the kind words, inspirations, and contributions that Razzball Nation has given us over the years as we built up our fantasy baseball tools for both Roto (Streamonator, Hittertron, Weekly Hitter and Pitcher planners) and Daily Fantasy Sports (DFSBot) players.

After much deliberation, we decided to move all our daily tools (Streamonator, Hittertron, DFSBot) to a subscription model. Don’t worry – the rest of the site is staying free. This just allows us to make a little money on these tools (we’ve lost money to date if you take development costs into account) and continue to invest in enhancements. We are aiming to have most of the enhancements available on Opening Day and all by May 1st – see below for what we have on tap:

  • Ability to customize the Streamonator and Hittertron $ values based on your league settings
  • Additional stats will be added to Hittertron (SLG, OPS, TB)
  • Our good friends BaseballPress.com are going to provide us with today’s lineups soon after they are posted. We plan on updating Streamonator, Hittertron, and DFSBot throughout the day to reflect those changes.
  • DFSBot will include up to 5 DFS services (only had two in 2014).
  • DFSBot will project both standard $/pt as well as ‘upside’ $/pt – providing an estimated value on hitters/pitchers should they have about an 85th percentile game (vs the normal 50th percentile). This is HUGE for GPP tournaments!
  • DFSBot will have both ‘Today’ and ‘Tomorrow’ projections. It will update whenever the ‘tomorrow’ salary data is available for each DFS site.

As an added bonus, we are going to update the Season to Date and Rest of Season Player Raters to allow you to adjust for your league settings. This will only be available to subscribers. (We wanted to have this in place for 2015 preseason, but s**t happens sometimes.  Those asterisks say, “Hi.”)

We are offering two subscription packages:

  • Roto Deluxe ($19.99/yr, $4.99/month, $0.50/day per page) – This includes Streamonator, Hittertron, and the Weekly Hitter/Pitcher planners. We know many of you are playing in free or low-stakes leagues and we have purposefully kept this price point as low as possible.
  • DFS Premium ($49.99/yr, $9.99/month, $1.00/day per page) – This includes everything in Roto Deluxe as well as the DFSBot. See below for links with more details on each tool.

Final note: Before you count your pennies, please note we have partnered with several DFS sites including our sponsor DraftKings to offer free subscriptions to any new users who make minimum deposits (please see the subscriptions page on the necessary deposit requirements).

Big fan of the tools. Killed it for me last year in daily and season long.

Any discount consideration if someone joined DraftKings through a RazzBall referral link last year and played about 3000 contests since then? :)

@eli_person: Should ask Rudy but I think if you deposit money into account it goes towards the subscription

      • elipitt says:
        (link)

@Grey: No worries. I haven’t opened a Fantasy Feud account. Besides, my biggest single day profit was $1 into $100. DFSbot suggested I use ALL the Orioles against Joe Saunders. DFSbot was right. I’d pay for more of that!

    • Whirlaway says:
      (link)

@eli_person: Just curious…What type of contests were you playing? I got into dfs for nba this season but only played 50/50s. Looking forward to trying baseball

      • elipitt says:
        (link)

@Whirlaway: I like the single entry tournaments, like the daily dollar on DraftKings. The multi-entry games have bigger prizes, but it’s frustrating to go up against guys with hundreds of entries.

The best tips for baseball I think is pay up for safe strike out pitchers, look for HR and stack, stack, stack. You’re much more likely to hit on several team mates doing well than individuals from separate teams.

Speaking of NBA, I haven’t watched since Jordan played, but I tried NBA DFS this year to kill time. I’m into it. I think I am doing well in NBA because I don’t know it and trust the experts/projections. A lot of times in baseball I outsmart myself because I think I know it better than the pros (I don’t).

Baseball is a completely different beast in that you huge quick scoring changes you don’t have in NBA. It’s a lot less.. predictable isn’t the right word… linear, maybe? Baseball is nice because lineup are out hours before game time. NBA had me me freaking out at first with all the last minute line up changes, but once I got back into following it, it got a lot more fun. I win 50/50s and triple ups a lot more in basketball.

    1. Willing to pay a few bucks for these services, they were great last year and a big part of helping me win my league.
    2. For subscribers, will there be a Razzball ios app in the near future? I’d pay extra for that ;-)
    3. For subscribers, will there be a way to have the weekly streamonater and hittertron be ready to rock on Sunday afternoon as opposed to Monday am? With weekly lineup decisions needed by late am Monday morning, I was pinched a bit last year sometimes, while waiting/hoping for both to be updated for the week ahead.

    • Fastpitch says:
      (link)

@titan: Agree with the weekly son. I had to get up at 4a.m. to set my weekly lineup before work. A Sunday afternoon forecast would be great.

      • The weekly SON updates on Fridays – use the ‘next week’ version

          @Rudy Gamble: better yet. Great!

        • titan says:
          (link)

          @Rudy Gamble:

I did use that link. I found the “next week” link to not have the correct pitchers/starts until Monday am most weeks.

          • I get a daily feed with next 7 days’ scheduled SPs. I’ve found it to be very good. I do have to take educated guesses for the remaining 3 days. I’d consider this as good as you’re going to be able to get in terms of probable pitchers for weekly.

Does that apply to folks who already signed up to DraftKings through a Razzball referral link?

I signed up to DraftKings last year through Razzball and I’m hooked. My stats say I’ve played about 3000 contests since then. (That’s way more than I would’ve guessed!)

If not, it’s cool, I don’t have a Fantasy Feud account yet, I will sign up there and burn through that $20 in about.. 10 minutes :)

    Hello Grey,

Good luck with the new setup!

Would appreciate it a lot if you can give me your thoughts on my team recently drafted.

    H2h, 12 teams
R, RBI, HR, SB, TB, AVG, OB
W, QS, ERA, WHIP, SV, K

    C – Lucroy (9)
    1B – Rizzo (2, k)
    2B – Walker (15)
    3B – Arenado (3, k)
    SS – Rollins (16)
    OF – Stanton (1,k)
    OF – Brantley (4)
    OF – Jay Bruce (6)
    UTL – Rusney Castillo (16)
    BN – Belt (18)
    SP – Samardzija (7)
    SP – Lynn (10)
    RP – Chapman (8)
    RP – Street (16)
    P – Wacha (10)
    P – Archer (11)
    P – Derek Holland (15)
    P – Bauer (17)
    P – Shane Greene (19)
    P – Wei-Yin Chen (20)
    P – Carlos Martinez (21)

I traded draft picks last year, and didn’t have rd. 5, rd. 12, 13, 14.

    What your thoughts?
I think I’m a little light on runs and SB.
Pitching, I waited more than usual but found the Shark Rd 7 Chapman in rd 8, and had to take him. Counting on health for Lynn and Wacha.

Waiver wire: Laroche, Rios, Eaton, Cain.
P- Feliz, Doolittle, Reed, Roark, Giles.

Would you make any moves? Look for something specifically (SB, avg, etc.)

    thanks,

I’m sure I can find information on how daily FBB is played but was wondering if Razzball plans on writing a post on the in and outs of playing? I don’t want it to turn into a gambling habit for me, buttttt I think i would enjoy the strategy and competitiveness of playing. I know there is salary cap rules for some. I don’t get the payouts, my cost, lineup structures ect. Like how or who do you pay, is it through paypal ect. Just a beginners post would be helpful. I’ll most likely pay the $40 subscription so I can learn thru the comments. Thank you.

    • We have a daily draftkings post that I link to from the Draftkings DFSBot page. The logistics of DFS is very easy if you have played fantasy baseball. The strategy takes time – kind of like poker. I think the upside $ makes playing in big contests a little bit easier.

Good morning Grey and Rudy, you guys definitely deserve more than just daquaries, I will be purchasing the roto deluxe this evening. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Finish my first auction draft of the year.

@Worlds First Analrapist: Thanks! Don’t love Murphy and you have some risk in the OF and not much flexibility… Pitching looks much better than the hitting, which isn’t ideal… Team still looks decent though…

    • @Worlds First Analrapist: Looks pretty good. Rosario won’t play enough to warrant weekly league. I’d find an everyday catcher. I’d cut bait on Wright unless he’s producing in April. The SPs look pretty good but why no closers?

      • Worlds First Analrapist says:
        (link)

@Rudy Gamble: thanks guys…my partner is a huge mets fan, so he forced my hand with Murphy ($6) and Wright ($12), hopefully they produce…the closers were all going for $10+ and I have had success picking up my saves on the WW in years past, so I decided to gamble a bit.

Hope you guys make some real coin on this.

One of the real issues you face is that word of mouth has to be lower for a site like this than many others. I’ve told a handful of friends about the site over the past 5 years, but nobody in my primary $ league. If your most loyal readers are keeping this site to themselves, that’s the type of readership it makes sense to try and monetize.

Just about anybody who is at all serious about FBB knows about Razzball. I mean, its the #1 result when you search “fantasy baseball blog” on Google. If you havent heard of Razzball, you probably arent serious enough to pay for FBB tools, IMO.
