It’s my last post of the year, so thanks to all who read each Thursday. It’s been a fun time, but these past few weeks have been frustrating with the expanded rosters when trying to set my DraftKings lineup. Who is going to play? Who will throw five innings and be pulled? I continue to wish that baseball would have the expanded rosters at the beginning of the season and not at the end.

Anyway, let’s get straight to the cash, homie.

We’ve all been slammed by the DraftKings and FanDuel commercials so much in the past few weeks. However on each one, you’re seeing the testimonials speak about how much they’ve won while playing fantasy football on the sites. That’s where the most of the attention is, especially this time of year. So if you’re still reading and still playing your DFS baseball tournaments or what have you, gold star for you.

Let’s get straight to the cash while everyone else is focused on football.

How much stacking is too much stacking? I mean, the reward is obviously there, but so is the risk. It’s an approach I took with my season-long league this year, as my starting lineup had Ben Revere, Troy Tulowitzki, Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista in each day for a categories league. It worked well enough to earn me a first-round bye, but it’s risky because if the Blue Jays had an off-series, I was screwed.

It’s the same approach with DFS. You want to stack hoping it hits, but if it doesn’t, you just wasted your money. Ballpark comes into play, and so does the pitcher. Today, I’m risking it, even if Turner Field isn’t great. Line me up some Blue Jays, good sir.

Straight to the cash, homie.

Turn the channel. Well, at least during the commercial breaks. Yes, the NFL season starts tonight (Tom Brady is going to do work, y’all), but it’s still baseball season. Admittedly, I’ll be watching the football game, but I’ll be channel surfing during the long commercial breaks to keep track of my DraftKings lineups.

I’m especially going to be checking in on the Mets and Braves game. No, I’m not a fan of either team, but I’m a fan of Bartolo Colon. He’s not a good pitcher, and what he did last week isn’t indicative for what he’s going to do tonight, but my god. He’s so entertaining to watch. Isn’t that what sports should really be about? ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?

Anyway, let’s get straight to the cash, homie.

It’s late in the season, and you know exactly where you are in your seasonal league, but there’s still time to make money on DraftKings. It’s a Thursday, which means there aren’t many games on the slate, but at least the Coors Field games continue this week as the Giants invade Colorado.

The plus side is that both teams have players reasonably priced on the offensive side, but the negative side to it is that an already small slate turns smaller on the pitching end of things as both starters are automatically out of it due to pitching in Colorado. Well, and they just aren’t good.

Let’s get straight to the cash, homie.

High School football is a week away. Crazy, right? With that, of course, comes the start of college and professional football, meaning most of the fantasy focus will be on those throwing around the pigskin. If you’re still tuned into your seasonal league or DFS for baseball, way to go, you.

Today’s slate really isn’t that appealing, as it has six so-so games on it. I’m looking at games in Miami and Philadelphia to attack, so let’s get straight to the cash, homie.

Guys, each Thursday, I write to help you win money on DraftKings. That’s the main objective. But I would be remiss to not mention that almost every Thursday, I complain that the slate is way too small. Trust me, many Thursdays I don’t play just because it’s so bad.

But not this week.

Twenty weeks into the season, we finally have a big slate on a Thursday. We are looking at 11 games, including the Nationals at Coors Field, but sadly the Blue Jays are off.

Let’s get straight to the cash, homie.

How about those Jays? Running through the six with their woes, amirite? The Jays are now in first place after making up eight games in just 14 days to overtake the Yankees. Now, not taking anything away from Toronto because they have been white hot, but man have the Yankees made it easy on them.

All of the sudden, the Yankees first five hitters look like the Atlanta Braves at the dish. They’ll rebound, but for now, I’m taking advantage of the struggles of Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Brian McCann. Trevor Bauer is frustrating because he can go from looking like a Cy Young candidate one night to looking like a position player on the mound the next. I like to make a tournament lineup with Bauer in it when he pitches because of the potential. Put his potential with the Yankees struggles, and I’m OK with rolling him out today.

Can today be Wednesday instead? How about Tuesday? I’d gladly pick Chris Sale and watch him fail — mad rhymes — because it’s the right pick for DraftKings. Instead, it’s like a Black Friday meal when you could have gotten everything fresh the day before on Thanksgiving. True to form, I’m picking my pitcher as my building block, and although I’m not super excited for it, Jason Hammel is my guy at $10,300. Super expensive for a back-end top-30 pitcher, but he’s the best of the best today.

Sure, his last start was fine, but he hasn’t recorded a quality start since his July 3 start against the Marlins. Marlins Man could throw a quality start against the Marlins. It could be the hamstring, which is what I’m banking on. He’s at home, at night, which makes me feel OK, but this is a rare occurrence I’d be happy if he was pitching on the road instead.

Straight to the cash, homie.

I put in a long day at work on Monday. I drove four hours from home after a weekend with my family straight to the office. With the fair in town, we were doing some pretty cool digital projects that highlighted the dirty jobs at the fair. Well, technically, we called them dirty deeds… done fair week. Yes, you’ll be singing AC/DC all weekend now. After learning how to be a rodeo clown at night for about four hours, I was just exhausted when I returned home.

My alarm went off at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday as I stirred in bed to start another day. Right before I hopped in my Prius — yes, I drive a Prius. What of it? — I hopped on Facebook and saw Razzball post an article about Troy Tulowitzki. I immediately clicked it due to my 75 percent shares in fantasy leagues, thinking that he was hurt. Nope, he was just traded to an equally impressive offensive ballpark.

I was shocked, nervous about the turf despite none of his injuries throughout his career being based around his back and couldn’t wait to start him in DraftKings.

Well, the Blue Jays get left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy tonight, which means it’s time to break out the big guns in Toronto, eh?

Straight to the cash, homie.

Happy first Thursday after the All-Star break. I won’t lie, I missed sitting down with a glass of Pinot Noir to write my weekly advice piece last Wednesday.

The first thing I noticed when I opened up my DraftKings app was how damn expensive Clayton Kershaw is. I mean, he’s still the best pitcher in baseball despite his numbers not reflecting it this year, but is he worth spending $14,500 on? Well, he’s facing the Mets, so yeah. In face, my last article was title “Dream of Californication” due to the amount of Dodgers and Angels in my lineup. That title could apply here, too.

Let’s get straight to the cash, homie.

The title really should have something to do with Dodgerland or Mannywood. Maybe the Best Team That Money Can Buy (Can’t wait for the book to come out Tuesday, by the way)? But I have to include Mike Trout in here, too.

I love Felix Hernandez. I truly do. In my short time living in the great northwest, I understood the appreciation that they have for King Felix. The King’s Court is something you should witness at least once if you are a baseball fan.

But for some reason, Trout has had his number throughout his career. There are three current Angels that are hitting above .200 in their career against Felix Hernandez. Erick Aybar (.220), Albert Pujols (.222) and Mike Trout (.345). It’s no small sample, either. He’s 20-58 against Hernandez with 3 home runs and 12 RBI. He’s the fifth-highest price outfielder behind J.D. Martinez and Andrew McCutchen, which makes sense. However, Cameron Maybin and the injured Giancarlo Stanton both cost more than him. It’s a large enough sample that I feel confident to zig with Trout while others will zag. That’s why after selecting my building block (SPOILER: It’s always a pitcher for me), I knew Trout was the first hitter I was getting in my lineup. Let’s get into it more, shall we?

Straight to the cash, homie.
