It’s year 16 of the RCLs! That’s right, if the RCLs are in the bathroom, don’t knock, just give them like five minutes because they’re checking the price guide for their Semien condition, so to speak. They grow up so fast, right? Soon, the RCLs are going to be dating, then fall for their high school sweetheart, then get married at 19, then quit school to support their young family. Then, an affair will start with their co-worker, and the RCLs will secretly despise their family when they turn 30 for depriving the RCLs of their lifelong dream of going to umpire school. Man, some serious RCL bitterness incoming! Maybe you should just hit the lottery, RCLs, then you can spend all your money on a McMansion and a tiger tied to a tree. Unfortunately, the tree isn’t sturdy enough and bends all the way over allowing the tiger to break loose and stalk the RCLs into their bathroom where the RCLs wail, “I didn’t know how good I had it when I had no money and just the fun of playing in a free fantasy baseball league against 11 of my closest frenemies.” So, don’t make the same mistake as the RCLs, and live your best life by joining some free fantasy baseball leagues!

Did I say free fantasy baseball leagues?

No, technically, I just typed it.

All right, if you could join a fantasy baseball league that was against, like, thousands of others, would you or are you…chicken? Don’t make me call a bawk-bawk on you.

This isn’t a 1000-person league, where people are trying to figure out who the back-up third baseman is on the Single-A Astros affiliate, the Corpus Christi Amscrayers. No, this is a 12-person league designed so you compete against eleven other people in your league, then 75 other leagues of twelve. That would be cool. Oh, wait, we’ve done that. It’s called the Razzball Commenter Leagues, and they’re back, and you don’t even have to be a commenter to join it!

For a limited time only, get your loved one a fantasy baseball league! That’s right, your hearts go pitter-patter or you’re dead on the inside (my condolences). Since back in June when you abandoned your fantasy baseball team because it was totally sucking and you returned to your cubbyhole of leftover Chinese food and Teddy Grahams, you’ve longed for this day. As Bob Marley sang, this is your redemption song, mon. Or womon, for our five girl readers. It’s time again to join some fantasy baseball leagues!

Before you close all of your extraneous porn windows and rush to sign up, let’s explain how these fantasy baseball leagues are going to work. We’re going to have a bunch of leagues and crown a winner from each, then we’re going to crown ONE winner from all of the winners. We will be crowning the winner by taking each team’s points and multiplying it against a ‘league competitiveness factor.’ If you want to see how it worked last year, go here.

So we’re going to fill up as many fantasy leagues as we can for the next seven weeks.  Each fantasy baseball league will be a mixed league, 12 team, snake draft, roto, 5×5, 5 OFs, one Middle Infielder, one Corner Infielder, one Utility, 9 pitchers, 20 game positional eligibility, 1400 innings max, 1000 IP minimum with 3 DL slots with a 500 moves per year cap, which I think maybe two people reached last year. So, that move limit isn’t inhibitive for even those who rosterbate until they are blind.

The leagues will be again at Fantrax.

We’re going to start with 40 leagues and see how we do from there. There are a few pay leagues, neither Razzball or Fantrax keeps any money. If people want more pay leagues, fill these up and we’ll open more. If we need more free leagues, we’ll do the same. To join a league…Sorry, again for the people in the back of the room:

TO JOIN A LEAGUE

Click the LINK in the ‘League Link’ column (see below grid) for the time you want and YOU’RE IN.  Damn, that’s too easy.  Oh, I guess I should also mention make sure you’re joining a league for free or for money, depending on your preference.  If you want a league for money, then 1) Click the link. 2) Pay the money.  That’s it!  No pesky third requirement!  Again, Fantrax and Razzball take no money.  You can join as many free or paid leagues as you like.  To quit a league, go to OTHER –> All Options –> Quit League (located at the bottom).  Now go join some leagues!

THE BIG PRIZE

All leagues (paid and free) will play for the big prize. So, what do you win? You win bragging rights! Not just any bragging rights, but the bragging rights that you beat a thousand or so other people, and you can emphasize the “or so” as emphatically as you’d like. What? Not enough? Okay, for this year’s prize we’re taking the bull out of bulloney. We are upping the ante. “Hey, Olympic high jumper, can you jump over this ante?” No, you can’t, it’s been upped too high. LOOK, it’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s our ante! “Excuse me, astronomer, is that a satellite orbiting earth?” No, son, it’s Razzball’s ante. They upped it. This year we are giving away a $250 Best Buy Gift card, which can buy just about anything (up to $250). I recently bought a TV that sits underneath my toilet seat so when I whizz I can watch TV. Granted, I bought this in a dream I had and I was married to Sofia Vergara in said dream, but this must exist, right? Also, for s’s and g’s, I’ll throw in a Razzball t-shirt because I have 14,000 of these and I’ve already outfitted all the homeless people in my neighborhood with SAGNOF t-shirts. But, most importantly, you will be crowned the 2026 Razzball Commenter League Champion. Okay, now sign up…

New Fantrax Dynasty Baseball League – Founding Members Wanted
I am starting a brand new Fantrax Dynasty league from scratch and looking for dedicated managers to join. Here are the core details:
• League Size: 12 teams
• Buy-in: $50
• Format: Classic Roto categories
• Rosters: 40-man total (26 active/bench + 14 Minor League spots)
• The Initial Draft: A 40-round Snake Draft. (It’ll be a marathon the first time, but it sets the foundation for years to come!)
• Player Pool Rules: No mid-season pickups for players drafted this year or J2 (International) signings. The goal is to keep those for the annual supplementary drafts.
• Future Drafts: Linear (non-snake) in reverse order of the previous year’s standings.

Because while I want to join the league I’m not sure what happens to the $50 if it doesn’t fill up. From joining a RCL league the money is collected and deposited before joining. I’m not concerned about these filling. That’s all.

Truss – I’m trying to deposit funds in my Fantrax (for your $20 league), but there’s a system bug not showing billing address fields, and hence the form can’t proceed. Can you hold a spot for me? Also looking forward to rejoining Crab Army once invites go out again.

On the league master standings page, can the “Lg Index” values please be rounded to the tenths instead of whole number (as the RCL Pts is actually calculated from the more accurate value and not the rounded number shown in the table). Thank you.

12 team, 5×5 roto.
C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, UTIL

With Carroll’s injury, are you still taking him over Vlad/Alonso in this type of league in the 2nd round with the 21st pick?

I think I’m feeling gun-shy because I took Gunnar last year after he fell to me due to injury and then was never really himself all year.

I was curious about Kurtz high K% with a low/moderate chase rate. Interesting read. I assume the book on him would be to throw a steady diet of off-speed and breaking pitches this season. He can adjust by getting out in front a little earlier. Will be fun to see how this plays out.
—————————-
Nick Kurtz’s high strikeout rate despite a moderate chase rate is primarily driven by a high swing-and-miss rate on pitches within the strike zone, especially with two strikes, rather than chasing bad pitches. He struggles specifically against off-speed pitches and has a high 35.5% overall whiff rate, resulting in frequent strikeouts despite disciplined plate appearances.

Key factors contributing to this trend include:

High Two-Strike Whiff Rate: Kurtz has shown a significant increase in his whiff rate (38.6%) when behind in the count, leading to a high percentage of two-strike strikeouts.

Off-Speed Vulnerability: He has struggled with high miss rates (41% or higher) against breaking balls and change-ups.

Deep Contact Point: Kurtz uses a very deep contact point (25.5 inches, deeper than the 30.7 inch average), which, while allowing him to generate power, can make him susceptible to swing-and-miss on well-located pitches.

Swing-and-Miss in Zone: He frequently swings through hittable, often breaking or off-speed, pitches rather than just chasing out of the zone.

Trying this again, my apologies

Good morning Grey, Fantastic stuff as usual! I’m not sure if you’re still taking questions, but here goes……
Weird hybrid league $100 cap for first five guys, then snake draft. Three keepers $25 ea, taken away from the $100 Salary cap.
My dilemma,
I have Jaren Duran for two more years, can keep 2 more, one for two yrs, one for one. Thinking of keeping Miz and Logan Gilbert.
But have these to choose from:
W. Contreras
Naylor
Bichette
Kyle Tucker
Hader
Alcantara
Miz
Gilbert
Munoz
6×6 League R,HR, RBI, OBP, SB, AVG – K, WHIP, QS, SV, HLD, ERA
Thanks!
ETA: I’m always a day late and a dollar short! Thanks for your reply. So you think Naylor and Tucker? I see your point about Miz and Gilbert, thought I’d get a stud SP and an up and coming guy I could keep for a couple years. Thank you again

Thank you for all of your great articles.

I know you like to draft hitters early, and trust your ability to pick out sleeper SPs to fill out your rotation.

This year, for redraft standard 5×5 roto, 12 teams, what rounds are you generally drafting:
A. SP1
B. SP2
C. SP3
D. RP1
E. RP2

Thanks!

NL-only league and debating keeping Lindor at $45. Top-5 cost, but not sure there’s anything I’d rather spend it on? Top bats are ESuarez, Bichette, Bregman, Harris, Arraez, OCruz, Bohm, Happ. Top SPs are Wheeler, Burns, Strider, E Perez, Imanaga.
The catch is at least 3 teams will have >$50 more than me to spend, so I’d probably be priced out of the top bats and forced into that Bohm-Happ tier to replace.

Basically, would you rather use $47 on 45Lindor, 1Horwitz, 1Baty or something like 17Happ, 15Bohm, 15LGarcia? I think I’d rather keep Lindor with a couple $1 dice rolls.

told the kid to spend as much as he wanted on hitting and i’d duck tape a pitching staff.

he comes out of the gate judge, ramirez, schwarber, devers, perdomo, stowers, stott

rounded out with durbin, masyn winn, ike collins, delauter, moreno and jeffers

the pitching is a fist full of scratcher tickets

mcclanahan, leiter, weathers, abbott, burrows, yates, uceta, vodnik, oviedo, painter, braxton garrett, melton, mlodzinski, kyle leahy, steven matz and sean burke

super fun team. a winner? not impossible per se

yates had a 1.14 era and was stellar when paired with new angels pitching coach mike maddux in texas in 24. stevenson is already behind in camp, romano sucks, joyce is injured and sucks. figure yates gets a shot first.

vodnik (and the whole rockies pen) was weirdly not horrible the last 3 months of the year. i think he’s got the job. i think the price cut on terrible team closers is usually too steep and i don’t even see the rockies being as bad this year as they were last year.

uceta was one of 4 relievers with 100+ ks. if it’s a true share in tampa maybe he gets 15 saves, lucks into some wins help the rates without draining the ks from that slot too much. if jax fails and uceta somehow gets the job he’s a top closer. does have a little shoulder thing i chose to ignore.

if they all fail, either punt saves or try to faab enough to scrape into a few points.

also, auction values on closers are bonkers, like straight bonkers this year

The draft is quickly approaching in my keeper/contract league and I have the first pick! I should probably temper my excitement as I feel that I obviously need to make a pick that will help my team immediately but also take into account that I can place a 4-year contract on the my first pick.
To clarify, each team already has at least 12 players on the roster, so the “first pick” is technically like round 13. Total salary is $250 and I am already at $142 with 13 players on my roster.
Does it make the most sense to select Y. Alvarez for $35 or K. Griffin for $0 with the first pick?
Does the value and potential of Griffin at $0 for the next 4 seasons outweigh Alvarez at his salary? I do not expect either to be available when the draft comes back around to me…so which one makes the most sense as my first pick?
Thanks!
Current roster:
B. Harper
J. Chisholm
B. Stott
N. Marte
E. Tovar
J. Chourio
J. Naylor
J. Merrill
F. Tatis Jr.
J. Lawler
D. Cease
J. deGrom
B. Chandler

Maikel Garcia will be a priority at the draft because he qualifies at 4 positions. His adp has gone from 80 to 68. With only 3 bench so only room for one bench bat at most do you think it’s reasonable to draft him 25 picks ahead of adp?
Thank you.
