I hope everyone had a fun second week in the Razzball Commenter Leagues.  There was some good, like Fernando Tatis Jr.  going bonkers with six homers in six games.  There was also some bad, like Giancarlo getting hurt yet again.  Juan Soto returned and immediately hit a bomb.  Maybe he can give Andrew Benintendi and J.D. Martinez a little pep talk.

It’s the silly season for our leagues at this point (who are we kidding this whole year is silly season), where we can have huge swings in the standings based on 2-3 good days of stats, or a week of Tatis-level production.  We had 23 leagues change leaders this week and I’m a little surprised it wasn’t more.  Four teams remain in the top 10 from last week and one of them just so happens to be the first place team.  Let’s take a look at the standings as well as some trades in the RCLs this week.

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Look at the race going on at the top of the ‘Perts league!  Three teams all within a point of the lead, including Mr. Grey Albright.  Four homers out of Matt Olson this past week helped Grey to jump up 13.5 points this week.  Ralph is right there too, just five points behind the leaders, Son and Itch.  Son has been leading every update so far as he tries to go wire to wire here.  Donkey Teeth took a beating this week, dropping 16 points and falling to sixth, but it was Coolwhip who took the largest dive, falling 21.5 points and slipping from fifth to tenth.  I’ve managed to work my way out of the basement, but beating Jay doesn’t really feel like an accomplishment here.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Ray Butler of Prospects 365 remains in the top spot for another week, followed by Dan Richards who holds onto to second overall.  Derek Rhoads jumped up from seventh last week to claim the bronze medal podium here in week 2.

TOP 10

Typically, this will be a quick view of the top of the Master Standings.  Since it takes a couple weeks to get those up and running, this week we’ll just take a look at the top 10 highest scoring RCL teams based on roto points.  Here’s how it shakes out after 2 weeks:

LEAGUE TEAM SCORE
RCL #3 Matty’s Super Twos 114.5
NOTLZ Cleats Boyardee 109
DFSers Capital Offense 108.5
RCL #43 Disgustipated 107
RCL #24 Team DFresh 106
RCL #10 Swangin & Bangin 105.5
RCL #35 Team erniemm 105.5
RCL #1 Ghost Runner – 1 105.5
RCL #65 Plesh 104
RCL #38 Free Love Freeway 103.5
Cougs Fat Fuckin’ Babies 103.5
RCL #40 KrazyIvan 103.5

The rich got richer this week as Matty’s Super Twos held onto the top spot and added three more points to their already impressive total.  Cleats Boyardee from Night of the Living Zombinos added nine points this week to move up into second overall and Capital Offense from DFSers Anonymous added 11 to move into third.  The biggest riser in the top ten this week was Disgustipated of RCL #43 who gained 18 points and moved up to fourth overall.  Team DFresh, Team erniemm and Ghost Runner – 1 all return to the top ten for another week.

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

DATE LEAGUE DETAILS
8/5/2020 RCL #21 El Duderinos traded Whit Merrifield & Kyle Seager to Stumble Drunks for Colin Moran & Ozzie Albies
8/6/2020 RCL #33 CT Old School traded Jose Abreu to Autopilot for Max Scherzer
8/6/2020 RCL #37 Inflamed Chicken Heads traded Edwin Encarnacion to For Whom the Bellinger Tolls for Jose Berrios

There isn’t much worse than trading for a player right before they hit the IL.  You gotta feel for El Duderinos there.

I said last week I’d trade just about any pitcher for a hitter at this point, but I do think CT Old School dodged a huge bullet with Scherzer’s hammy and I like that deal for CT.
