You can cram this week’s recap up your cram hole!  There I said it.  There’s no burying the lede this week.  Last year’s champ is back on top of the RCL world.  Apparently, it was no dumb luck and our little Crammy is actually pretty darn good at this game.  Take note all of you out there asking catcher questions on the regular.  If you want to stand naked behind a championship belt, all you have to do is follow his lead.  This marks the second week out of ten that a member of DFSers Anonymous has topped the charts.  Two weeks ago it was MauledByPandas’, Samuel Colt Debate Team.  It’s cool watching to Razzball regulars going at it, trading blows week in and week out.  This should be a fun race to keep an eye on all year.  I’m hoping I can join the fun and make it a three team mixer, but I doubt it the way my team’s been going.  Regardless, this is a good league to bookmark and keep an eye on.  It’s an active bunch with two former overall champs duking it out.  That’s just the beginning of what happened in the RCL universe this week.  Let’s see what else went down in the week that was, week 10:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts & other industry names to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  Click the heading above to check out the ‘Perts League home page and follow along.

There wasn’t a whole lot of drama this week in the ‘Perts league.  Team McLeod held on to first place for another week.  Not only did McLeod hang onto first place, he also added 4.5 points, the most in the league this week.  Team McLeod now holds an 8.5 point lead over 2nd place.  Time to kick it into gear Razzball crew!  Big Magoo moved up into that 2nd place spot as he does his part to chase down the outsider.  Ralph slipped from 2nd to 3rd after losing 7.5 points this past week.  Both he and Team Gianella tied for the most points dropped.  Grey and Rudy swapped spots in the standings despite both gaining points on the week.  Grey outgained Rudy 2.5 to 0.5 though and just squeaked past his nemesis.  The biggest gainer in the standings this week was J-FOH who moved from 9th and leap-frogged JB into 7th place.  JB remains in 8th but did make a not terrible trade this week, so we’re moving in the right direction.

There was major movement in the top 10 this week.  As I mentioned in the open, Cram It jumped from 9th to 1st overall.  Former number one, Simply Fred slipped all the way down to 4th as the ECFBL starts to tighten up some.  A Man Named Brady made a Cram It-esque jump this week as well, from 8th to 2nd.  In 3rd we have S’All Goooood, Man, who moved up from 6th last week.  You had to make it weird fell out of that 3rd spot, down to 5th and Poe Dameron fell one spot from 5th to 6th.  Backdoor Sliders has been flirting with the top 10 the last few weeks and finally make their debut this week at 7th overall.  Team Bromelia had a big fall this past week from 2nd to 8th.  Familiar name, Fatuous Jeffreys sticks around the top 10 again this week, but slipped from 7th to 9th.  Finally, I regret to inform everyone that Monsters of Butt Rock fell out of the top 10 (and top 20) this week.  A moment of silence…*claps hands* alright, Guy Montag replaces Butt Rock after taking a one week hiatus from the top 10 (11th last week).

6/12/16 Gettin Frisky Springfield Isotopes traded Jason Heyward to The K Giles Band for Joe Panik

It was another slow week for trades, but some big names changed hands this week.  What do you think of some of these deals?

One week after trading away a closer, Simply Fred turns around and 24 hours later has two brand new ones.

Jose Altuve was involved in two trades this week and I’m not a fan of Ill Will Phil Hill’s return for him.  I’m not sure I love the return for McCutchen either for that matter.

I traded away Bryce Harper this week, at least I managed to get a respectable first rounder back and even added the very valuable Dellin Betances in the process.  I seem to have collected about a dozen outfielders, and someone had to go.  Thanks to injuries I had collected Adam Duvall and Leonys Martin, neither of which I cared to drop.  I think it was a pretty good trade both ways.

Looks like the Slytherin Salazars will need to change their team name to the Dumbledore deGroms after trading away Danny boy.  I like the return though, getting deGrom and swapping V-Mart for Chris Davis.  Bravo.

Machado for Altuve is a much better return for the mighty mite.

I know Heyward has been a shizz show so far, but Joe Panik is on waivers in most leagues.  That one is a bit painful.

Finally, look at JB pulling off a nice little trade for himself.  Dexter Fowler is nothing too spectacular and Tanaka is one pitch away from having minus one tendon.  JB has a huge power need after trading away CarGo for…Jake McGee…ouch…double ouch.  David Ortiz helps fill that void nicely.  Slow clap for JB for making a deal that might not completely blow up in his face.

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 59 – Purple Reign (Razzball Commenter League Max)

HR –22 – Ithaca Rage (RCL Lords of the Diamond)

RBIs – 71 – SWALLOW MY NUT (All Summer Long)

AVG – .354 – Team Rogers (Straight BESTBUY Homie)

SB – 17 – Hiroshima Carp (Gettin Frisky)

W – 11 – Calgary Cannons (Razzballero1) (Back to back to back to back weeks with a share of the RCL lead)

K – 139 – Calgary Cannons (Razzballero1)

SV –  12 – kumamoto banpeiyu (Diickin Around), CARNE ASADA BURRITOS (Take on the Jaywrong 5) & Tehol Tossed My Salad (Myers Superfoods) (Back to back weeks with a share of the RCL lead)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.60 – Manchester Maniacs (Stream or die!) (in 54.2 IP)

The Hiroshima Carp tied the weekly stolen base record this week but Calgary Cannons stole the show.  We’ll chat more about them in a second, but they set a new high in Ks and has held a piece of the RCL lead in wins for four weeks running.  That is one seriously impressive feat.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Calgary Cannons

League: Razzballero1

Stats:   H/AB: 75/263, AVG: .285, R: 33, HR: 10, RBI: 45, SB: 4

IP: 153.2, ERA: 2.75, WHIP: 1.08, K: 139, W: 11, SV: 6

Summary: The feat was so impressive in fact, they also earned team of the week honors.  It was a down week for offense this week as no players hit six homers in three games or five in two like last week.  Twenty two homers led the way, so the Cannons hitting only ten this week was all relative.  The pitching dominance is obviously what sets the Cannons apart this week.  To throw that many innings and come away with a 2.75 ERA and 1.08 WHIP is a feat to behold.  Most people would be happy with those numbers in a 45-50 IP week.  The Cannons had triple that.  With eleven wins this week and the fourth straight week leading the RCLs the Cannons took over the lead for most total wins with 66.  That’s one more win than the Hoboken Squat Cobblers in 45 fewer GS.  Nice work Cannons.
