Are you feeling a little like Jose Bautista as the page turns to week 6 of the fantasy baseball season?  Perhaps you aren’t sure where you are, how you got there and/or where you’re going.  Dazed, confused, you look around for someone to hold you up.  Oh good, there’s Adrian Beltre, he’ll keep me from falling down.  Pretend to hold me back while I shake this off, would ya.  With any luck you’re more on the Rougned Odor side of things and you’re landing a mean right hook on the rest of your league.  Most of us are probably Sam Dyson though.  We’re lurking in the background, just waiting to spear tackle Russell Martin.  Underrated and underpublicized, we’ll be there in the end when it matters with a big play, hopefully ending on top.  Grey is surely feeling a bit like Joey Bats this week after taking a mean punch in the grill from Rudy.  He’s icing his ‘stache as we speak.  Rudy is picking his ‘fro and giving JB the business.  Punches were thrown all over the Razzball Commenter Leagues this week.  Jump on down with me and see who else landed haymakers in the week that was, week 6.

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts & other industry names to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  Click the heading above to check out the ‘Perts League home page and follow along.

After calling his shot last week, this week was a pretty big let down for our Fantasy Master Lothario.  Grey has the 2nd biggest loss in points this week (-7.5) and the biggest drop in the standings.  Grey fell from 3rd at the time of our last update all the way down to 8th.  The reason for Grey’s fall from grace you ask?  Well, his team only knocked 5 dingers this week, meanwhile his pitching staff was putting it on a tee for guys to the tune of a 5.10 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 60 IP.  Grey now has a league worst WHIP (1.358) and second worst ERA (4.022).  Now I don’t feel so bad about my ratios, thanks Grey!  If you’re wondering who has the biggest point drop in the points league this week, that would be JB.  JB out did Grey by 0.5 points, losing 8 and falling from 2nd to 3rd.  Rudy has his sights set firmly on JB at this point as he was the benefactor of all these lost points.  Rudy gained a whopping 13.5 points this week (from 57 to 70.5) and flew up the standings from 9th to 4th.  Again, pitching was the name of the game as Rudy had an RCL leading 9 wins this week to go along with stellar ratios (2.61 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) and amazing strikeout totals (86) all in 58.2 IP.  Rudy benefited from an amazing Wednesday that saw Mad Max strike out 20, Wei-Yin Chen strikeout 12 and Noah Syndergaard strikeout…6, but hey, that’s 38 in one day!  Rudy’s pitching is carrying him so far, but his league worst 56 HRs will likely hold him back.  Maybe he can find some sucker to trade him a big bat mid season for one of his aces.  Big Magoo continues to hold onto the top spot with the opposite approach from Rudy.  Magoo’s offense is lighting the world on fire with a total of 56.5 of a possible 60 roto points.  At the same time, Magoo has a league worst ERA (4.088) and a bottom third K/9 of 8.47.  I like to shoot for a K/9 of over 9 in RCLs, so Magoo has a little work to do.  With K/9 honks like Rudy (11) and J-FOH (9.42) that could be tough sledding.

5/15/2016 Baba Booey Roll AJ N Burnett traded Chris Carter and Shawn Tolleson to Team Carner for Dallas Keuchel (Team Carner dropped David Peralta*)

After two straight busy weeks of trading, things cooled off a bit with only 10 trades this week.  I for one would love to know where I can trade for a top closer for a waiver wire middle infielder.  Roswell Stickyfingers made some moves this week, getting two deals done and nabbing a top closer and first/early second round pick in Jose Abreu in the process.  Nice wheeling and dealing there.  I think the trade in Talkin’ Baseball much more accurately reflects the price of saves in RCLs.  I wouldn’t trade Goldy for a closer any day, but I’ve seen people do crazy things for saves.  Grey would be proud of Team Carner for ditching Dallas Keuchel.  It’s only a shame he couldn’t get him off his squad before the Sawx had their way with him.  What a trainwreck.  What do you guys think of that monster trade in DFSers Anonymous?  I always find it tough to evaluate trades of this size.  It seems like a lot for Davis and Cain, but then again, those two are the best players in the deal.  Discuss.

There were no new weekly highs set this week, however, The Eduation of Dr. Z continued a great season so far by tying the weekly high mark in RBIs with 72.  Cannonball Titcomb had a great week on both sides of the ball, leading all RCL teams in batting average and WHIP.  That’s the kind of stuff that team’s of the week are made of!

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Case of the Goldschmidts

League: JB’s RCL

Stats:   H/AB: 96/338, AVG: .284, R: 57, HR: 17, RBI: 56, SB: 7

IP: 63.1, ERA: 1.85, WHIP: 0.99, K: 78, W: 5, SV: 7

Summary:  Psych!  It was actually Case of the Goldschmidts that had the top week.  They benefited, along with with everyone else that was quick to the waiver wire after Danny Valencia’s 2 HR game Friday, with a 3 HR game on Sunday.  Those extra HRs were enough to propel the Goldschmidts into TOW glory.  When I was looking over the weekly leaders for this week I really thought Cannonball Titcomb might have a shot at TOW honors, leading all RCLs in AVG and WHIP.  However, Titcomb only knocked 11 HRs and just like chicks, we dig the long ball, thus the Goldschmidts take it.  In addition the sweet grab of Danny V, the Goldschmidts made great streaming calls with Alex Wood (twice) and Dan Straily.  They also reaped the rewards of back to back 12 K games from Chen and David Price.  The big week pushed the Goldschmidts into first place in JB’s RCL where they hold a slim 0.5 point lead over the 2nd place team and a 1 point lead over friend of Razzball, VinWins.  Close race there, good luck to all involved!
