Grey and Rudy Make Asses Of Themselves
Last night, Rudy and I partook (partaked?) in the Fantasy Baseball Roundtable Radio Podcast Show-a-ma-thingie. Listen to the whole thing and you’ll go deaf from my cackle. You’ve been warned.

I’m sorry Grey, but a little of the mystique has gone.

If you guys had a regular radio show you could literally make hundreds if not hundreds of dollars.

Haha
Speak for yourself Grey, Rudy was the star of the show. Question: Do you always sound like you’re baked or is that your radio voice?
[Reply]
@Steve: The mustache remains.
@IowaCubs: The Grey and Rudy Hour, When You Need That Hour To Feel Like An Eternity.
@BigFatHippo: I’d answer that, but my fingers are orange from Cheetos.
[Reply]
November 12th, 2008 at 9:42 am
@Grey: Good thing it wasn’t porn n Cheetos night at Casa De Grey.
btw, wasn’t that Isaac Hayes in the beginning?
[Reply]
@BigFatHippo: Wasn’t sure. I tried to ask in the beginning but I was rebuffed by the consortium.

@Grey: It’s one of those Motown guys I used to listen to back in my silk shirt days. Barry Gordy ain’t nuttin but a pimp ya’ll.
[Reply]
@BigFatHippo: Can you dig it?

The consortium (my new fav word) has gone through a number of intro songs and apparently this one has stuck. You should feel lucky you didn’t get on one of our earlier shows when Patrick somehow thought that having the amazing Kid Rock with Bawitdaba was a good choice!
[Reply]
@Mike Podhorzer: So we’ve narrowed the song down to, Not Kid Rock.

November 12th, 2008 at 11:13 am
@Mike Podhorzer: @Grey: Ha
I can see Bullgod being Razzball’s theme song.

o and the song is Vehicle by the Ides of March
[Reply]
@BigFatHippo: I think we’re more “Lose Yourself,” by Eminem.

@Eric W: There’s a million or so people in Jersey who think my voice is just fine. And they don’t mind my IROC either.

So.. I’m starting to hope the Braves get Peavy. He’s young, and his contract is a bargain considering his talent.
Some people don’t want the Braves to part with Yunel Escobar…. Give me a break. 10 homeruns in 514 atbats.. 2 SB, 5 CS, 16 errors. Last year proved that Escobar doesn’t have huge upside like everyone hoped.
The Braves have made a serious offer to the latest Japanese pitching sensation, Junichi Tazawa… 22 years old, throws 97 mph.. His current statline in Japan.. 54 IP, 56 K’s, 4 BB, 6 ER, 1.00 ERA.
In addition, our top pitching prospect Tommy Hanson appears to be ready for the pro’s. This fall he has 30 K’s in 18 IP, 6 hits allowed. He threw a 15 strikeout, no-hitter.
So those 3 pitchers could be the start of another dynasty, similar to the early 90′s. Heyward is our top hitting prospect and he’ll probably make the team out of spring training, he has huge upside.
I’m more optimistic than I was 4 months ago, that’s for sure.
[Reply]
@Ashley: I completely agree with you, I don’t understand the Braves fans that are holding so tight onto Yunel. He’s the definition of yawnstipating and should make you long for Marcus Giles.
re: Junichi Tazawa — Everyone’s going after him, I think he’s going to end up on a team with lots of duckets (read: Sawx).

@Grey: I didn’t listen to it all but my favourite part was when Mike asked you a question about something and there was an extended silence.
Was the great man ruminating on his reply so as to dazzle us with his brilliance?
No – he was talking to his girlfriend.
Classic.

I really don’t think it would be that difficult for you and Rudy to do an occasional podcast of your own. It would be great, filled with all sorts of “what the hell’s up with the Marlins?” rants and a fantasy baseball blogger’s guide to dainty guy masseuses.
I’d love to hear BFH and Baron square off as guests on such a show.
[Reply]
@IowaCubs: Rudy and I have bandied around the subject, then common sense has prevailed. I don’t know, we’ll see. As you might know, I’m pretty computer-stupid and have no idea what goes into producing a show of that quality. Do I need to buy a cowbell?
[Reply]
November 12th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
@Grey: MORE COWBELL!
I just posted this in the forum, but thought I’d pass the word here, too… For anyone interested, I just signed up for a mock 2009 Fantasy Baseball draft over at mockdraftcentral.com. It’s tonight (Wed) at 10pm ET. Here’s the link: http://www2.mockdraftcentral.com/drafts/join
Anyone interested?
[Reply]
@IowaCubs: You MOCK! Yeah, that’s a good idea. People should take advantage of that.

@Grey: Oh – and I can’t believe that there is ANYWHERE in LA that is that far away from ice cream.

@Steve: Believe it. You should do the mock draft.

@Grey: There’s only 4 guys in this one so far, get in.
How long do these things take and do I need a player list or does a ranked list come up like our RCL draft?
[Reply]
November 12th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
@BigFatHippo: @Grey: @IowaCubs: Sorry boyz – y’all will have to make fun of my Roto drafting ineptitude another time. I’ll still be at work come draft time and thus behind a proxy server – so can’t participate.
Maybe Grey could write a round-by-round commentary?
Kidding.
[Reply]
@BigFatHippo: I can’t, going to dinner shortly. Also, you’re supposed to be in the mock draft with Iowa and Steve, are you?
[Reply]
@Steve: Oops, didn’t read your comment when I made mine. They must’ve overlapped.
@BigFatHippo: Iowa was putting together a mock. You should get in it with him. Might be late for you though. I think it’s 10pm EST.

Cause I’m so old.
They should put me in a creative writing hall of fame too. How original is that?

November 12th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
@Grey: Yeah I was surprised when I read the Braves made a big offer for him… Because I figure if he’s as good as advertised, the Sox and Yankees are just going to have a bidding war over him and obviously the Braves can’t compete with whatever those 2 teams can offer.
Red Sox need to share the wealth, they have dice-k, they shouldn’t be allowed to get another Japanese pitcher. And maybe the Yankees will still have a bad taste left in their mouth from whoever that Japenese pitcher they got since they couldn’t get dice-k..
[Reply]
November 12th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
@BigFatHippo: I’d pay the price of admission to see you there. Is that creepy?

@Ashley: “Red Sox need to share the wealth, they have dice-k, they shouldn’t be allowed to get another Japanese pitcher. And maybe the Yankees will still have a bad taste left in their mouth from whoever that Japenese pitcher they got since they couldn’t get dice-k..”
I feel your pain, the only Japanese player the Cardinals have been able to get is So Taguchi for a cool million. At least the Cubs overpaid for Fukudome, so there’s that.
MLB needs to put a cap on how many times you can bid for free agents that haven’t gone through the system. For instance, if a team wins a bidding war for a type A free Agent in 09 they shouldn’t be allowed to bid on another in 2010. If the Braves don’t get this guy, and get outbid by Boston, I’ll be pissed for you. Revenue sharing my ass.
[Reply]
@Ashley: @BigFatHippo: Yeah, it’s a pain felt by a lot of people. MLB should step in and do something, but they cater to big market teams, so there’s that.
@BigFatHippo: What happened? You couldn’t figure out to mock draft? You just draft people, only you think for only a quarter of the time because you’re not going to really be saddled with someone for 6 months, i.e. It’s okay to draft Hank Blalock, Rickie Weeks or Rocco Baldelli.
[Reply]
November 12th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
blalock is my sleeper this year …. very encouraging splits on lefties now …. must have been the post-op drugs

BigFatHippo: That radio show provides evidence to why we rely on IM for joint round-ups b/c, otherwise, we talk over each other and have to hear each other’s grating voices. We were made to write monoblogs…
@Hank: Looks like Sam Elliott, sounds like Chris Elliot….
@Grey: If we ever do a podcast, maybe we should invest in some voice modulators. Your voice needs to sound like you smoke 2 packs a day and I need more of a deep, Isaac Hayesian voice….

That was f’ing hilarious. You guy’s are so f’ing money and you don’t even know it.
There is no baseball site beyond this one. I’ve played Fantasy Football for almost 15 years and have 1 championship to my name. I’ve played Fantasy Baseball exactly 1 year in my life and this site gift-wrapped a championship for me.
An IROC Grey? Wann-be. I’ve got a Porsche 911 with a quadrophonic Blaupunkt.
