The Razzball podcasting worlds collide on this week’s episode as Grey Albright and I bring on Jay to talk about all of the exciting happenings going down on the football side of Razzball, most notably Jay’s draft rankings placing an impressive 3rd overall last year (note to self: don’t ask 3rd place finishers who came in 1st and 2nd anymore).  Around all of the football talk, Grey and I slip in some fantasy baseball analysis too, starting with the Yonder Alonso trade and the seemingly imminent call-up of Rhys Hoskins. We talk about some general fantasy trade deadline advice, along with the dos and don’ts when it comes to trading with last place teams. Finally, we discuss Giancarlo Stanton and Luis Severino’s dominant seasons, and then talk about some youngsters to close the show, including Willson Contreras, Gary Sanchez, and Bradley Zimmer. As always, please make sure to support our sponsor by heading over to RotoWear.com and entering promo code “SAGNOF” for 15% off the highest quality t-shirts in the fantasy sports game. It’s the latest edition of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast:

Hmm, interesting sports movies that could be made:

    A Game of Shadows movie.

(Prequel) A movie about the 1987 Oakland A’s. It features McGwire and Canseco sharing a bathroom stall for 90 minutes.

@Deerheadghost: I’d buy a ticket for that movie

@Halp: “Halp in the 00168.” I looked it up, and it says it’s Rome.

I’ve been offered EE for McCullers in a keeper league. I’m not going to win this year, and I have Rizzo, Smoak, and Chris Davis.

Pitching is hard to come by but is McCullers special?
    and will Edwin remain productive?

What do you think about that deal?

    Thanks

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@keith armstrong: McCullers is still a risk but I think I would trade EE for him, especially in your situation and with your team construction.

  6. Sport says:

I think I’m in the minority on this, maybe you can shed some light for me. I’m talking Miggy’s value for next year, and as a keeper. Especially in a league where we use 12 batters. I realize his power is drop a little bit he seems like the type to hit 290 til he is 40, with a down or high year every so often. I’m not saying he top 25 anymore but he feels like a buy low who should hold some value next year.

Where do you see him ranked going into 2018?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Sport: Yea, it could definitely be a David Ortiz scenario where everyone tries to put him in the grave after a down season but he just keeps on chugging. I would say next year people will mostly give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe a 4th-5th round pick.

    16 team dynasty …

    Grichuk & Brinson

    for

    LoMo & Wacha

    Fair?

(if it’s ridiculous, say so, won’t hurt my feelings)

    Thanks!!

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@Racehorse: It’s a fair deal. Brinson side is betting on his elite upside and giving up two solid win now players.

      • Racehorse says:
        (link)

@Halp: if Clevinger is added to Grichuck & Brinson, does that make it lopsided?

        • Halp

          Halp says:
          (link)

@Racehorse: I don’t think Clevinger makes it lopsided. A 16 teamer makes guys like LoMo and Wacha more valuable too. I get why their owner would want more. I still really like Brinson, so for me to trade a top prospect like him I would want a difference maker in return and I don’t think either of them are true difference makers.

          • Racehorse says:
            (link)

@Halp: yeah, I’m the one trading Brinson and I tried to pry loose Chris Archer, but no dice. I was thinking Wacha might be enough because it’s a keep-forever 24-player league … and my starting pitching is deGrom, Carrasco, and then the drop off.

I’m looking forward to listening to the podcast on my drive home today — thanks again for your help!

            • Halp

              Halp says:
              (link)

@Racehorse: I traded Soto for Alex Wood earlier this year so I get it. I usually regret trading for these risky, still a bit unproven starters, but you gotta take a chance sometimes if you need pitching.

Dump Albies or Franco for Hoskins?

    • Halp

      Halp says:
      (link)

@BAC: In a redraft, I lean Hoskins over Albies because he has the ability to go on a power surge down the stretch. So does Franco. if you need steals and/or 2b/ss eligibility, it changes the equation.

  9. Dave says:

When do you see Calhoun coming up? Will he be a top 10 2b next season or is that too advantageous?

Thinking of trading C. Allen for him. Guy needs rp and I’m for 2018.
