What up everyone, I’m here taking the hill for back to back DraftKings days. The coach called for the modern day Mike Marshall to come in and throw his crazy words around. I actually like Mike Marshall but I can see how he might rub people the wrong way. For more details about his work click here. Maybe we would have less Tommy John surgeries if people would listen to him. He can bring back the screwball! Sorry, I got off track there. Henderson Alvarez has been a friggin stud this year and Harry and the Hendersons was a stud of a movie in 1987. Ok, maybe not a stud but it was a lovable family flick I saw in the theater.  I’ve been watching Oaktown Steve successfully stream Henderson Alvarez on the regular, always too weary to touch the man with two last names and no first name. On the season he sports a very healthy 2.56 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP. A reasonable BABIP (.320) a solid xFIP (3.48) and a strand rate (76.1%) that isn’t spelling doom on the horizon. His K-rate (5.73) is not what we like for DK, but for today I like him facing the Swing and Miss Mets. Earlier in the year he pitched a complete game shutout against them where he K’d 7. At $7,300 you won’t find a better deal today.

As usual here is my promotion of the DraftKings. Your daily reminder to play with us and use the tools we give you to get an edge over all the other players in the DK universe. We have the Hitter-tron, the Stream-o-nator, and the DFS-Bot at your disposal plus a slew of writers to help you along. If you are playing an RCL right now then this isn’t that far off. The daily streamers and batty calls used in many of the highly competitive RCL leagues reminds me of the DFS style. The only difference is the clean slate you get every day. If you want to play with some of the other readers and writers here at Razzball then please leave your handle in the comments and we’ll get resident DK league organizer Ralph to add you to the list. My goal is a day when we can get 25 players going. Here is what else I like today.

Jaime Garcia, SP: $8,800 – His home road splits favor him on the road but the sample size is too small to really have that matter. He’s pitched well over his last two starts giving up 1 earned run over 14 innings and has only walked 5 batters in 38.2 innings pitched. This is more of a value play for me because I don’t think highly of the Phillies and their Yankeesesque age.

Dan Haren, SP: $8,100 – Last time out in San Diego, which translates to whale sized park, he threw 6 innings of shutout ball while giving up only 4 hits. Don’t hate me for using the hodgepadre park effect, I would be a fool not to. I don’t like his opposition Ian Kennedy because there are too many wildcards when it comes to the Dodgers. That translates to I don’t like using pitchers when they face them. At this price paired with one of my other pitchers will leave you plenty of duckets to get some higher priced bats for the MIL @ COL double stack.

Buster Posey, C: $4,500 – I looked at a lot of catchers and I have to say Buster is the only one to tickle my fancy. He’s horrible at home, who wouldn’t in that den of phone watchers, but on the road he is a stud. Batting .333 away from the bay and already hitting two dongs against Josh Collmenter gives me the warm fuzzies. He’s hit .417 at Chase Field this year and .282 over his career with 5 dongs. It’s OK to pay for your catcher today.

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B: $5,400 – This isn’t a sure thing but it’s an Au Shizz Thang. His career numbers against Timmy are ridiculous. Going 13 for 24 with 7 HR’s gives me a rise in my pants. There is always the possibility they just intentionally walk him every at bat but I would still buy him wth the hope they don’t. Goldy owns Timmy so bad that he puts him on a leash and makes him do humiliating tricks every time the Giants come to town .

Scooter Gennett, 2B/SS: $4,100 – I’m stacking the crap out of the MIL @ COL game….both ways. Yes I’m doing the going both ways friday. A rookie right hander in the land of dongs and honey makes me excited like a sailor on shore leave. This will be the first of many double stack attack calls. Oh and the price is really reasonable.

Carlos Santana, 3B/C: $4,200 – What, did you think I was going to put a Brewer here? Nah, that’s just straight lazy (I have a Rockie next). Carlos has been hitting a little bit lately, and by a little bit I mean he has hit .333 with two dongs the last week. He faces Rick Porcello today who he’s hit .324 against with three bombs over 34 AB’s. Don’t be fooled by the medium sized sample, she never said that, it’s free. You can take it home with you and put it under your pillow. Insert evil laugh now.

Josh Rutledge, 2B/SS: $3,700 – Since returning to the big league club he’s hit .458 at home and gets to face 23 home run serving Marco Estrada. I’m double stacking and I’m not sure if I want to pay the high price tag for Tulo ($5,600) so I’m going the budget route for my middle infielders.

Charlie Blackmon, OF: $4,400 – Hey Mon it’s Charlie Blackmon! I had to go with the better left handed Rockie at home for this one. At only $4,400, only $200 more than Corey Dickerson, I prefer the player with the more slanted home numbers. He’s hit .344 with 9 of his 12 dongs at home and has been heating back up again. Play with confidence and leave your pants at the door.

Khris Davis, OF: $4,200 – A surprisingly good deal at $4,200. The rest of the Brew Crew outfielders are over $5,200 and that might not fit in your line up. Out of the three Davis has been the one on fire lately and if you didn’t know this then you might have been in a coma over the last month. With 7 knocks and a .323 batting average over that time he’s finally been that guy we all dropped and cried when someone else picked him up. It’s even worse when they lick up our tears like Grey did to Sky.

Billy Hamilton, OF/SS: $5,000 – I’m a sucker for speed, no not that kind, and I like the Reds today versus the Dickey. I know he can be on and shut them down but he can also get shelled in that little league park they pass off as “major league”. Since we’re on that park, I can’t help but wonder what Joey Votto would be if the Reds had traded him to San Diego and kept Yonder Alonso……he’d be Yonder Alonso. Sorry, back to Billy; he’s been on fire of late and can make for a 20 point day in the first three innings.

Colby Rasmus, OF: $3,500 – He missed his off day dong and I think it’s because he’s not adjusted to the schedule after coming off the DL. He’s gone 4 for 8 against Matt Latos and I have a thing for AL hitters facing NL pitching. This one may scare some of you away because of Dallas but I’m not scared. The baby’s mama is from the LBC and can fight like a spider monkey. Bring it on Dallas, she’ll jack you up.

Carlos Beltran, OF: $3,600 – Carlos “I look like Ricky from My So Called Life” Beltran has started heating up after a slow return from the DL. The price is nice today and has the best numbers against Ubaldo Jimenez, 5 for 13 with 2 dongs, on the Yankees. This game has the potential to be a mini stack against Ubaldo.

Kendrys Morales, OF: $4,200 – Vegas likes this game and Kendrys likes hitting against Hector Noesi. In only five ABs he has two jacks. It’s a small size, that’s what she said laughing, but I trust Vegas on this one. He’s cooled a bit since his hot start and today is a good day to turn the corner and get a dong.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Det @ CLE and Tor @ CIN have scattered thunder storms  in the forecast and I hope they get scattered away for a game to be played. Keep your eye on the state of Ohio….C’mon Brohio, can we have anything nice from you? Everywhere else it looks good on the rain front. There is a heavy wind blowing out in Oakland and with Felix Doubront on the hill you might consider an Oakland stack attack with Yoenis Cespedes and Brandon Moss.

Doing Lines In Vegas

The MIL @ COL game is obviously at the top with a conservative line of 10 1/2. I would like to see that up to 12. Marco Estrada has already given up 23 home runs this year, eclipsing his previous career high of 19, and hasn’t even thrown in Colorado yet. SF @ AZ is at 9 as is the CHW @ MIN game. Everyone else is scattered in the 8 1/2 to 7 range. It’s been fun doing back to back but I’m pooped.
