Cornerstone, nay, cornerboulder, Prince Fielder is off to another yawnstipating start. Last year he hit 8 homers through the month of May. Boca Burgers were blamed last year, but maybe he just can’t swing a bat in cold weather because all he can think about is getting back to his hotel room and putting on his Snuggie. He’ll only be 25 in May and is still completely capable of 40 HRs on the year. If you can somehow wrestle Fielder away from an impatient owner, go for it (try a roofie!). Anyway, here’s some more players to buy and sell this week in fantasy baseball:
BUY
Jason Frasor – Newest victim of Scott Downs’ Syndrome? Maybe. Or maybe… Downs Goes… Frasor! Downs Goes… Frasor!
Aaron Hill – He’s 27 years old — yo, that shizz is magical, Copperfield! — he has power for a 2nd baseman and he’s not a drain on average. Best case scenario is 20/5/.290 — That’s pretty good for a 2nd baseman when you consider Utley has the conch shell at 30/12/.310.
Nelson Cruz – Damn, Fonzie, you thought I’d say he was a sell after his big time start, huh? Nah, noob. I wrote a whole fantasy baseball sleeper post on this guy two months ago. Recognize!
Adam Lind – Everyone and Grey’s mother seems to like this guy. Okay, I do too! Just keep expectations in check. If you can get Krispie or Ludwick for Lind, I’d go for it.
Josh Anderson – With Thames on the DL, Anderson’s going to have some time to steal bases. Your league has to be fairly deep for his name to matter, i.e., I picked him up in my 16 team mixed league… Then dropped him for Hawkins. Well, nevermind that.
Tommy Hanson – Looks like he’s going to get the call soon. Don’t drop anyone that is currently helping you, but if you’re choosing between middle reliever schmohawk door number one or Hanson, I’d go for Hanson.
Phil Hughes – Is it Phil or Phillip? He’s still very young with tremendous potential. He’s not just on your radar because he’s a Yankee. With Wang wrong, Hughes could be up any moment now.
Derek Holland – Could be an impact pitcher right now. He’s contending with Millwood, McCarthy, Padilla, Harrison and Scott Feldman. (Yes, that last name sounds like Skippy from Family Ties’s real name.) In 12 team leagues or deeper, I’d pay to find out how long until Holland’s inserted into the rotation.
Josh Johnson – Going with the just-abandoned Josh theme, if Johnson avoids injury, he can be this good all year.
Mike Lowell – No, I’m not saying he’s going to keep up a pace of 150 RBIs, but you can’t sell him and get value so you may as well keep him and have a decent cheap 3rd baseman.
Cameron Maybin – He’s been pretty bad so far, but go watch this. Did you see how close the leftfielder was playing? That’s cuz the leftfielder had no idea the scouting report on Maybin and he said to himself this scrawny guy isn’t hitting the ball over my head. Maybin! (Okay, I’m completely bonkers pushing Maybin as a Buy at this point, but if you’re in a deep league and someone thinks your Melky is going to breakout, I’d get Maybin from them.)
SELL
Geovany Soto – I don’t think you should sell him for a pair of Meat Puppet reunion tour tickets, but while last year is still fresh in people’s minds, you might look to unload Soto. Not only is he struggling, but he might be struggling because of shoulder problems. That spells trouble.
Jason Bartlett – Besides having a name that sounds like a jobber in the WWE, he’s having himself a nice little start for the year. .373 with 5 steals. Well, la di da. He’s going to hit .280 and steal 20 bases. If you can get anything for him, go for it. Otherwise, just ride out his hot streak for now, but keep your mind open to other MIs.
Jarrod Washburn – Wanna know what it’ll feel like if you continue to hold him? Punch yourself in the stomach.
Emilio Bonifacio – 2 walks in 66 ABs. He has speed, guys. There’s no doubt he can steal. At some point the goose is going to cook his average real unpheasant.
Chris Volstad – He’s running an ERA out there under 3.00 and it should be above 4.00. He will probably be usable this year, so you don’t need to drop him, but you should use caution with him or trade him for a different piece.
Kyle Lohse – Drop the H.

Impatience has sent J.J. Hardy to the waivers already. My SS is Tulo. Should I drop Burrell for J.J. Hardy and see what happens with having both (I would have Holliday, Granderson, Bruce, and Dukes for 3 OF spots)? I’m also eyeballing Mike Lowell instead of Hardy, but Longoria is my 3B and Delgado and Adrian Gonzalez fill in the 1B/Util spots. This is my last move for the week, and I’m struggling with the decision, if there should even be one…
Curtis Granderson : Buy or Sell?
@nick m.: Drop Burrell for Hardy.
@Richard Mohr: Buy
what about the O-Dog hitting in front of Manny?
@mike: He’s a 12/12 guy tops with Runs and average. Not my ideal 2nd baseman or MI, but if he works for your team, go for it.
Good call on Hughes and Holland. I didn’t know how I felt about Holland, but you’re right. It might be too early for him but if he breaks out I’ll regret not having picked him up.
What’s the ETA on LaPorta?
.360/.429/.640/1.069
7.1% BB rate
8.9% K rate
I know it’s early but he has nothing left to prove.
10-team keeper that counts OBP and Ks as well as the usual. Get Lowell, Fontenot and C Perez and give Cano. Lowell would upgrade Swish at CI, I’m eh on the others. Thoughts?
I’m in the process of making a trade: Liriano for Heath Bell. I get Liriano. Good trade or did I make a mistake? I have 3 other closers: Lindstrom, Qualls, and Capps. Liriano will be added to the staff consisting of Billingsley, Shields, Harden, Meche, Young, Slowey, Scherzer, Kuroda, Davies, and Kershaw. Pretty awesome staff for a 10-team mixed league eh?
@Steve: I don’t like it at all. Keep Cano. Melky Cabrera has 4HR this year, all coming at New Yankee Stadium. He went homerless his last 42 games of 2008, last hitting a HR on July 8 before his 2009 start. Keep Cano or sell for more value, especially since he’s playing home games in Coors Field East.
@EricB: Very nice staff. Bell’s a nice closer because he has no competition. You look fine with saves though.
Also, here’s another question: Who to start next week?
I can pick 2 of these:
Liriano vs TB (Shields)
Slowey vs KC (Ponson)
Davies vs TOR (Burres)
Young at COL (Hammel) & at LA (Wolf)
Kershaw vs SD (Peavy)
Scherzer at MIL (Suppan)
I’m leaning towards starting Slowey. Normally I’d start Young too, but I’m worried about homers in Colorado and against the Dodgers.
@Grey:Hill is picking up where he left off before he got dinged, his future is very bright, who cares if he can’t remember his past.
I’ve been wondering what the deal is with Soto,is it too early to cut bait? I hope I’m not looking at a Milton Bradley level guy in return
Should I drop Brandon Wood for Phil Hughes? I don’t think my fantasy team gets points for each splinter Brandon gets by sitting on the Angels bench.
In a quandry:
Have Mauer (not auto draft, but couldn’t pass up in round 14), but picked up Inge to fill DL spot. No bench spots allowed. Most likely drop would be utility–Bonifacio–but one thing I am lacking is speed. Do I keep Mauer or Inge at C, and do I swap out Bonifacio for the other? Or do I just cut ties with Inge after hopefully getting his best month? (BTW: have a few average drags on team–Krispie, Dukes, Howard, Hardy, Bonifacio). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
@Bob: Above–14 team mixed with one catcher.
@Endless Summer: I wouldn’t do it. Hughes is a big risk and far too inexperienced unless you’re in a really deep league. I’d stick with Wood unless you’re short on pitching and have plenty of hitting.
I need steals. Should I trade Peavy for Crawford?
My other starters:
C-Bills
Gallardo
Slowey
E-Jax
I think I just answered my own question.
If you had to pick one of the two (Hanson’s already rostered), who am I picking up (dropping MR Andrew Bailey, OAK):
Holland or Hughes?
@Endless Summer: Barring an injury, I’d say June at the earliest.
@Steve: Eh, not crazy about it.
@EricB: I’d want Liriano there.
Young, Scherzer
@Doug Ault: I think you have to start looking to sell Soto off while he still has some value from last year.
@Endless Summer: Grab Hughes.
@Bob: Lose Inge when Mauer returns.
@Baron Von Vulturewins: Nope
@christopher: Holland
@Grey: Someone else named Bob has hijacked my identity (see posts #14 and #15). Is there anything we can do about this, or should I just start posting using another identity? I don’t want to be associated in any way, shape or form with Joe Mauer.
Do you really like Frasor? or do you just like saying “Downs Goes… Frasor!”
BTW, why did you have to show the video of Maybin, now i want to pick him up… sweet shot…
@Bob: Done.
@Billy: I like Frasor for 12 team or deeper leagues. He’ll probably see 25% of the saves and that can easily turn into more Downs fails.
re: Maybin — He’s got speed and obviously power.
Is Tommy Hanson being called up just a feeling or is there concrete evidence?
12 team h2h league , should pickup Maybin and Drop Dan Murphy?
@Grey: Thanks! The trademark “Bob” has so much value.
The only league in which I have Soto is full of Card fans. They know who they are!
Grey, a pickle to tickle please. Trade away Bay and Bedard for Vmart and Abreu ( i have napoli as catcher, and I am totally stacked at SP)?
Thanks!
Would you trade Lind for Holland in a keeper league? (i have lind)
@Frank Rizzo: Just a feeling, but it’ll happen soon and when it does, he’ll be gone very fast off waivers. So you have to know how quickly your league reacts on whether you should grab him now.
@Billy: I’d prefer Maybin.
@Bob: No problem. I wish there was some way to make it so if a username was taken the site told the new person to choose a different one. Anyone know if this is possible?
@Steve: Ha!
@johnson21: Hmm… That’s not an easy call. Has a lot to do with what your outfield is like and just how stacked your pitching is. If it really is stacked, then go for it.
@PJtres: I’d hold Lind.
@johnson21: dear god no. I really dislike that trade for you. Napoli is only slightly worse a catcher than VMart (granted they do two very different things for you). Still Bay is better than VMart by a long shot, and I don’t think Abreu’s gonna give you more than a good April (seriously, the guys so fat, how does he get 7 steals? It also belies the fact that his power’s been on the decline). Take Bedard’s resurgance to possible top 10 SP numbers and enjoy it.
Is Pelfrey against Washington a good stream?
@DrEasy: Nope
How about the Dorf against San Diego (at Petco no less)?
Between Pelfrey and the Dorf, which one would you pick?
hey grey, I have (1250 inning limit) Peavy, King felix, Shields, Wainwright, Slowey, Wandy. My OF is OK (we play 3 OF), Bay, Fowler, Rios, Adam Jones, and Werth. I am in need of steals though and Naps hasn’t been doing it for me.
What do you think? Thanks again!!
@DrEasy: Prefer Dorf.
@johnson21: Yeah, your team is lousy with pitching. Lousy as in good. But your outfield’s kinda hurting. Think you can swing F-Her or Shields for Crawford?
@johnson21: Crawford is a good one, so is Victorino, and Ellsbury. I just got Ellsbury pretty cheap so I’m feeling good about my SB’s now. Those 3 OF’s are starting pretty cold so it’s a good time to jump on them. Their owners may be sick of them already based on how high they had to draft them.
Thanks Dr. Grey. This is a 12 team league so I got pretty good with my pitching. Smoltz is also on my DL. I tried to swing shields for crawford but that got vetoed, the league stating that since crawford was a 3rd round pick, he should get dealt for similar value or whatever. Shields was my ninth rounder, but I do feel they will bring similar value. The leagues crazy I tell you. and jealous.
@Grey: thanks, Grey!
But I forgot to mention that the Dorf is going against Peavy…
Should I just forget about both Pelfrey and Dorf, and get Holland or Hughes? The only reason I’m streaming is because my SP roster is pretty shallow (Joba, AJ Burnett, Big Unit, Zimmermann, Masterson, Penny, Guthrie), and our league doesn’t have a max innings limit (or it’s rather high, same diff).
@Frank Rizzo: Thanks Rizzo. The dude is sticking to Ellsbury, and the other owner is sticking with the flyin hawaiin. Crawford is available in a trade, but the league won’t allow such things. (crawford for shields).
To add to my previous post, I’m planning to pick up Holland after my two streams, but of course the danger is that someone else will pick him in the meantime. This is a 16 team league.
@DrEasy: Grab Holland and hold for a few. Forget Goofus and Gallant.
@johnson21: That’s BS that they vetoed it.
@Grey:
Word. A bunch of haters, I was top 4 when that deal was trying to get passed. Now that I am in 8th, they might be more kind. Do you think Wandy + Shields is too much to give up for Crawford? Do you like Shields for Ellsbury?
@johnson21: I’d prefer Shields for Crawford, but I like him for Ellsbury. Wandy + Shields is too much.
Should I drop either Fowler or Kendry Morales for Holland in a 14 team? Still have Gomez waiting in the wings. Btw, have a drink on me – Thanks
BJ Ryan just got dropped. Should I drop Street (I have corpas) for Ryan?? Thanks Grey!
@vinko: Thanks for the daiquiri! Drop Fowler, if he’s not playing on your team. Gomez is redundant.
@johnson21: Hmm… Another tough call. You don’t have a DL spot? If you do, put him on the DL and hold Street. Otherwise, I think we see Street as a closer before Ryan again.
@Grey:Hill is capable of putting up Utley’ish numbers, he really is
@Grey: Grey – I am hurting for non-injured SP’s (i have Lackey & Carpenter) and want Tommy Hanson – he just cleared waivers. I know you think Perkins is a schmendrick, but he’s starting games…
Drop Carpenter, Lackey, The Schmendrick, or Bonifacio?
I am hurting for steals, so Bonifacio is napping under the covers until his sabbatical is over.
PS Throw a dart – when does Hanson get the call? what color snuggie do you have
Bell for Josh J? I think I have enough starting pitching, so I probably should look for more hitting but this seems too good to pass up. thanks.
Y’all starting Fausto against the Twins?
someone just doped alexi for zobrist has alexi really looked that bad this year? and i should grab alexi right?
@Steve: Razzball?
I just pulled off this trade…
I get: Lance Berkman
The other guy got: Nick Swisher and Matt Lindstrom
I feel kinda dirty.
@jsp2014: Ashamed to say it’s in the RCL…
@ron mexico’s papi: Unless the swish converts to a starting pitcher you robed the dude.
@Falcon: schmendrick — ha! Lose Perkins for Hanson. Comes up mid-May. Red.
@jsp2014: I’d want Johnson there.
@Steve: I am in a 15 team league, not a 12.
@Eric W: Grab Alexei.
@ron mexico’s papi: Great trade for you.
Interesting.. Braves put Garrett Anderson on the DL today. I honestly forgot we even had him.
You state Lowell is a buy but yet he’s really a hold?
Would you consider selling Aramis/S Drew for Lowell/Reyes if you already own C Davis (1b/3b) It’s probably not worth it but Reyes is elite like Hanley. Nobody else is close at SS.
@Grey: Adrian Beltre or Mark Reynolds?
via Rotoworld, Quentin in the lineup today.
:::sigh of relief:::
OF Carlos Quentin is in Friday’s White Sox lineup, hitting third.
@Ashley: Hmm… Interesting. I like that for my Diaz in my NL-Only league. Thanks for the update!
@Frank Rizzo: I’d want Reyes there if I needed his speed.
@ron mexico’s papi: Reynolds
@naughtandcross: @Doc: Nice! Thanks for the update.
Grey why do you get the feeling Hanson is getting the call? Don’t the Braves want to stretch his arbitration clock?
@Colin: Don’t think he’s getting the call today. But by mid-May he could be here and by then it’ll be too late in most leagues. You need to act before others. In all my leagues he’s gone already, so now even might be too late.
i have zimmerman but i probably wont start him against the mets so should i try picking up hanson or holland?
@Martin: Holland’s here right now, so I’d grab him for now.
No no I know you didn’t mean today he would get the call. I just keep reading everywhere that the Braves want to extend his call up to around June or after the break.
I’m in the driver’s seat as my last 2 picks this year were Jordan Zimmerman and Tommy Hanson. So I’m happier than a pig in crap. I’m just waiting for Hanson to get the call and Carpenter to come back so I can stabalize my rotation. Hopefully Zimmer keeps pitching well.
I have a bunch of young, but promising guys on my 2 teams. Maybin, Andrus, Daniel Murphy, Chris Davis, Volstad, Porcello, Fowler, and Chris Perez. This is in 18 and 20 team leagues. Only Andrus and Davis are actually starting. Should I hold on to all of them? Should I drop one of them to pick up a Hawkins, Perkins, Motte, or Holland?
Should I move Conor Jackson and Ryan Franklin FOR J.Damon – or wait it out with something similar coming from Jackson?
@Colin: Would think June would be the latest. Yeah, keep running Zimmermann out there for now.
@SP: I’d hold tight.
@BabyBeluga: Sounds like this is for your Utility spot. I’d hold tight.
@Colin: Just curious… where have you read June?
Cameron Maybin as a “buy?”
HAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*deep breath*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHAHAH
Maybe in leagues with 45 man rosters or NL-only, I suppose. Good article, otherwise, although it’s going to be real tough to “buy” on a lot of those guys, and other than Jason Bartlett, real tough to “sell” on that other group. More like “drop.”
Grey- Should i try adding both of them. I can drop zimmerman and then also drop JD drew. I will have no more bench spots on my offense but my league is really intense and i feel like jo jo reyes and one texas bum is gonna get sent down
@Joe Morgan sucks: Hehe… Okay, it’s a stretch. But I have Maybin on a 12 team league team where I’m in first. So there’s that.
@Martin: Grab both then. But I’d prefer you held Zimmermann and grabbed only Holland for now.
Is Verlander a sell at this point or must I suffer two years in a row? I’m tempted to just drop him and move on forever. I’m not sure I can take another one of these… 7.1IP, 8ER, 5BB, 4SO (fyi, i made that line up, it didn’t actually happen) And I saw the meat puppets this year. I would definately trade Verlander for meat puppets tickets.
Sos, Verlander (according to MLB gamechannel) is hitting 95-97. His strand rate is insanely bad, meaning his luck has been horrible. I still think he has a 3.75-4.0 WHIP and about .8 Ks an inning if he stays healthy all year.
@Sos: I asked people to not even draft him this year. To be fair, I don’t think Verlander will be as bad as he has been, but I don’t think you should expect much better than a 4 ERA and 5 Ks per start.
Liriano or Shields? h2h points league.
I guess I can remove “RIP Quentin…” from my team’s smack talk. I prefer to assume the worst and then be pleasantly surprised when he returns. Inject some ‘roids in that hand and it’s good as new.
@brad: Shields
@Ashley: Hehe
i have been using kelly shoppach at catcher but hes not getting any playing time. Should i keep him or drop him for suzuki, paulino, and other bums
Should I drop Baker for Holland?
@Grey: You asked and I listened sir. I actually picked him up off waivers because I get all giddy and what not when a big name lands there. I agree that he’s more of a 4 than a 3.50 type. And a 5 K guy compared to an 8 K guy. I just see these guys throw that heat and expect they can blow people away and it doesn’t always happen.
@Martin:
I have him as well. 3 starts a week. Hoping for a Pronk/VMart injury.
Or Garko to suck.
@Grey: Hopefully our benching Fausto will be the impetus he needs to get his season on track.
Any worry for Soria? Or does it sound just a weekend problem.
“Juan Cruz and Kyle Farnsworth will likely get save chances in Soria’s absence, so grab Cruz for saves, Farnsworth for blown saves.”
Lol
Grey I’d like to ask what it is about Maybin that you seem so sold on ?.
Here in NZ we got the Yankee/Detroit game at the end of ’07, when as a spring call up he faced Clemens, and won a small victory . Most of last year in the Minors , made good contact in a Spring call up for the fish but to date he seems well out of his depth , I hate to say it but could he be quadruple A.
@Grey: thanks Grey.
@Martin: I’ve been considering the same type of move, but so far I’ve stayed with Shoppach. It’s a nice way to punt, doesn’t even hurt your average, in my case I’m waiting for Wieters, so Shoppach is temporary anyway.
Fonzie Soriano batting third tonight. Theriot leading off.
@Eric W: I was hoping that you didn’t notice him. lol
Does Phil Hughes’s effectiveness Tues (assuming he fills Wang’s spot) have any effect on his value going forward? I wouldn’t start Hughes vs Det, anyway. And I’m guessing the Yanks have got to trot Wang out there at some point in the next couple of weeks (or not?) just to see if he’s righted, in which case Hughes is bumped from the rotation again. Is Hughes really worth rostering at this point?
Who would u rather have big papi or carlos pena
Who should I bench tonight, Alexei (vs. Tallet) or Scutaro (vs. G. Floyd)?
@Martin: Hold Shoppach.
@Ashley: Nah
@Dumbmutt: I’ve grabbed Cruz in a few leagues today. In deep ones, you may as well. It may only be this weekend, but ya never know.
@d2bnz: Definitely not a Quadruple A guy. At least way too early to peg him that. He’s got a rare combination of speed and pop and he’s young. All about the upside. I’m not saying grab him over Quentin, but instead of Cody Ross, yeah.
@GhostfacePrzybilla: As I said in the post, if it’s between random MR or Hughes, I’d take a flier. He may only get a start or two… Or he may get a start or two, do well and get more.
@Martin: Pena
@Prince: Scutaro
*******Soria –
An MRI on Thursday came back clean, so the Royals are not currently planning on putting him on the DL. “There is no structural damage,” manager Trey Hillman said. “He’s on special medication, and he’s doing some exercises.” Hillman said that he’ll use a committee to close out games while Soria is out. Expect Juan Cruz and Kyle Farnsworth to get the first opportunities at handling the ninth inning.
@Grey: 5th outfileder, Daniel Murphy, Melky, Endy Chavez or Spillbourgs?
Slim pickings I know.
Throw Bourn in the mix….SAGNOF!
@BigFatHippo: Bourn
hey grey..one more…conor jackson is on the wire…keep lind/dukes? or drop one for c-jack? thanks dawg.
@Grey: Thanks, I been thinking about him ever since I read The Bourne Supremacy. That dude can do anything…………….
@PJtres: Hold tight.
@BigFatHippo: Yes, and it helps a fantasy owner if they have amnesia.
@Grey: B.J. Ryan or Juan Cruz?
How dead do you think B.J. is this year?
@Bob: Not as dead as this cigar!
@Grey: drop perez for cruz?heard soria might be hurt
@vinko: haha I got a terrible waiver spot so you will probably beat me to him
@Bob: Ryan
@AL KOHOLIC: I’d grab Cruz there.
oh man! not to be annoying, but my trade just got accepted.
I just traded away Navarro/Youkilis/putz for Martin/Fielder/Rodney
zoinks!
@PJtres: That’s a great Buy Low trade, nice.
@PJtres: Nice catch man!
Thanks guys, im excited!!!
O, Prince. How does he measure up to Holliday? And I don’t mean waistline – oofa! For whom is there more than a glimmer of hope?
@peter: I’d prefer Prince.
First E.Jack and now Myers…both failing in pumping up their value so I can trade them…. at least Myers is on the bench for this bomb…. looks like dump city to me. Pick up Unit going against AZ again (don’t really need Ks)? Anderson for SB (my weakest O cat), or a MR like Bruney, Baily, Arredondo, Howell or Nunez (could use some vulture Ws)
In order to pick up Juan Cruz in a saves deprieved league, I would have to jettison Jered Weaver or Johnny Cueto as the last starter. Which one would you let go?
@Grey: thanx i was hoping youd say that,im bout done with that st.louis rp situation since franky is gone in both leagues,and i dont think tony will try and fix something thats not broken,franky throwing zero`s
@Grey: Start Masterson against the Yankers?
@Bob: Thanks for the heads up… Myers gone… welcome to the Varmint Cong Juan Cruz!
@NoonTime: Arrendondo if Cruz is gone.
@Bob: I’d hold.
@BigFatHippo: Sure
This is the first start with my new SP Johan Santana… Ahhhhhh love that new car smell and the 7 K in 3 IP ain’t bad either!
@Grey: Dude, you should be proud. Hippo, AL, Steve…………..1-2-3 in a ten year keeper league right now.
@Everybody
Testify!!!!!!!!!! Where you all standing in your league? I want everyone to win. Except for Razzball leagues of course.
The Riot leading off, melikes this. Soriano in the 3 spot.
@BigFatHippo: holding down the top spot in a couch managers league by a point and a half. Got a few other razzballers in the league.
http://games.espn.go.com/flb/standings?leagueId=169456
http://games.espn.go.com/flb/standings?leagueId=112217
having Soto is still better than 4-5 games a week of slow start Iannetta, right?
@john: Yeah, but look to move Soto if you can for something decent.
I know I am an idiot for owning him, but c’maaaann Volquez, 2 bases loaded walks, one to the opposing pitcher?!! 5 walks in an inning??? And it’s still not over????
Okay, I’m done.
And so, seemingly, is my season.
we count holds and saves. i have kuo in an open sp spot everyday. hope he works his shizz out soon. remaining rps are:
gonzalez, franklin, qualls and arrendando
would you exchange any of these dudes for frasor, bruney, mcllelan, meridith or pena?
@Grey: Wow, representin!
Are any of these “experts” Matthew Berry?
@Eric W: Nice! Couch managers has leagues? I did not know this.
Do they use their own or Yahoo or espn or something?
@royce!: You have to expect that.
@paulzone: I’d lose Kuo for Frasor.
@BigFatHippo: Me vs. 9 Berries.
***Hope I don’t jinx him with this, but F. Paulino’s looked good.
@grey: in roto sp/rp are gold. unless you think he is hurt or ratios are going to stay up??
another thought. one dude in our league is having major pitching injuries…what do you think of giving him both garza/j. weaver for Wandy?
remaining sps are beckett, billingsley, haren, ervin santana (DL). we have 1400 ip limit, so 5-6 sps to rotate is plenty
How many steals do you see Lugo getting this year? Also, is it me, or was the talented mr roto a lot more persuasive and less annoying analyst when he had his own website vs. now, where he’s on espn?
@paulzone: Okay, hold Kuo. Think you can get Wandy for one of those guys. Don’t need to trade both.
@johnson21: Never read him at his own site. 25 steals, .240 average.
@BigFatHippo: First place as of today.
First time poster, long time lurker. I have posted in the forums before but never as a commenter. Grey actually helped me out with a keeper league question prior to the season.
@Grey: Worth a roster spot in a 12 team mixed? Paulino that is.
@bigfathippo: holding the 1 spot in my 12 team roto, somehow..feel like my team is underperforming based on my expectations too!
(nice jinx, huh?)
@paulzone: No jinx, stick with Grey, you’ll be there all year.
@paulzone: BTW, if you click the little arrow thingy after the date/time, it’ll give you an @ whoever. No need to type it in, cool huh?
@jonatron: Look at you, over at the blog. Nice.
@BigFatHippo: I think you just jinxed him. He’s okay for spot starts right now. He’s got gas, that’s for sure. Chucking it up there at about 97.
McCann is still having vision problems. Guess they’ll be fitting him with Chris Sabo goggles, next!
actually, i’m not too confident in my batters…to stay up there. feel good with pitching, unless injuries come. would be huge if ervin santana makes it back at last year’s level soooooon.
baker/berkman/cano/miggy/hardy/kemp/ibanez/victorino/chipper/fukudome (to use when chipper is nursing)
ah well, still waiting for that waiver wire gem to rear his ugly head – a la 08 ludwick or quentin. maybe he has and i already missed him…GREY – who is it?
@BigFatHippo: effin sweet. thanks
@paulzone: Lind…. Some people will say Cruz probably, but most leagues of informed owners drafted him.
@Grey: Your keeper suggestion of Josh Johnson has worked well. Helped provide some stability to my staff. Thanks again.
@Grey: Don’t blame that shit on me, you mentioned him.
Only 1 K though, not liking that.
Got gas? He must have eaten the Taco Hell.
@Grey: yeah, cruz was drafted but still a beaut of a pick late. i got jazzed up on the choo-choo train early, let the fun of saying that cloud my judgement over lind…just offered fukudome for lind but doubt that will happen!
@BigFatHippo: too funny…just went from 1st to 3rd (for now). gettin smoked today.
Homer Update:
We’re gonna kill the Cubs this year, Wainwright pitchin a beaut!
why is aramis out of the game all the sudden??
@paulzone: That’ll happen, it’s early. Last I saw, Youk was batting .429. He’s not Ted Williams!
@AL KOHOLIC: Strained calf muscle. I do that every day, but can’t play 3rd base with it. I’m day to day.
@BigFatHippo: yup. it’s a marthon not a sprint.
@BigFatHippo: what did the doctor prescribe??net it`ll be blogeritis
Aw, man — razz on razz crime — Victorino’s salami beats a win out of Johnson
Damn, take a look at that Lindstrom line!!!
Victorino on the slam, now Utley solo.
Who’s next in line for saves in Fla?
Thx for answering my question about Maybin as an owner I feel a little more at ease ……I’ll get back to regrassing.
lindy got absolutly
BEAT DOWN…if he didnt walk him it hit thewall or went over it
@AL KOHOLIC: Blogangina! She told me I need rest and exercise.
How the hell do you do that at the same time? Chose rest.
I’m monitoring the Phillies game on Yahoo “live” streaming. It’s about 15 minutes behind – I still haven’t seen the Victorino slam yet.
lindstrom,killed me
Grey, I’ve gone back and forth on a trade: Hardy/Lowell/Volquez for Liriano and Al-Ram. I’ve received some good advice but I can’t commit. Which side would you want?
@AL KOHOLIC: Same here. 94.50 ERA? Thanks, thanks a lot.
You know who can fuck off to fuckoffity-ville? Victor Martinez, that’s who. SECOND round pick last year and I never got a single HR out of him. This year? Batting .400 with 5 donks. Thanks shitface.
BTW Chris Davis looked awful at the plate, why would anyone throw him strikes, he just hacks. Ugh he would be better just holding his bat and not swinging!
lindstrom owners on suicide watch ?
buy low on lindstrom? Any reason to stay away?
@I’m Keith Hernandez: Other than the 94 era today
And now Rivera hands me a blown save. I’m going to bed.
@I’m Keith Hernandez: I just added Leo Nunez to put myself at ease…
Ryan Franklin is filthy, buy him now if you need a closer.
He’ll hold that job all year.
@Grey just letting ya know about our boy Alexei tonight, in case you didn’t see the Jays game. He was horrid in the field, but hit a fly out that woulda been a hr, if it weren’t for it being so windy in Chicago.
@BigFatHippo: But be sure to get a good return if you’re selling
@Grey I just offered Soto, Thome, & Damon for Lester to the guy in last place in my rotiserie league. Did I offer too much or am I weaseling him? My OF as of now is Kemp, Quentin, Granderson, Cruz and have Werth on the bench. I need pitching big time. I have C-Bills and then Volquez, Gollardo, Davies, and Volstad. I also have Loney floating around on my bench.
does anyone else think that yahoo’s stat-tracker is a piece of crap ?
2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks were Prince, Holliday, and Phillips — needless to say people are looking at my team like it’s a yard sale right now. Holding all three, though.
On another note, are we still buying Liriano despite his increased FB%? I sent out a trade to a leaguemate hoping to capitalize on Torii’s torrid start (packaged Chris Young) and to buy low on Francisco and Krispie.
4 Ks for Ortiz tonight.
On the closer carousel, is there a buy alert on Chris Ray?
Sherrill with the BS and L tonight.
After putting BJ on the DL, I could use some SAGNOF.
frantrax flagged marmol with a leg injury (dtd) .
anyone hear anything about this ?
hip … were you watching the game ?
@everyone: Don’t y’all have jobs. I finally get a chance to read Grey’s posts and there’s 93 comments there and 173 or something comments here. Time well wasted…I guess.
@Grey:I love the Ali reference “Downs goes Frasor” good stuff. Also Iron Mike Sharpe, wow, forgot he even had a fleeting moment of fame.
speculating for saves long term, Chris Ray or R. Soriano. Someone dropped Ray right before Sherrill blew the save.
@Tom: Liriano side
@agarthered: Yeah, hoping he heats up with the weather. Hasn’t looked so far, that’s for sure.
@timSTi: You can get better than Lester with that chump dump.
@Sabs: I like Liriano there.
@rich: I’d grab Ray if that’s who’s available on the waiver wire.
@big o: Didn’t see Marmol, hope it’s not bad, I have him on team.
@BKK: Thanks!
@I’m Keith Hernandez: Ray
@Grey:
what they’re doing to the freak (<== not ours) is criminal .
giants score 2 in the top of the 7th to extend their lead to 5-1
and the send him out for the 7th AND 8th !!
for what ? so he can throw 124 pitches ??
bat-phone to rudy . bat-phone to rudy .
@BKK:
my job allows me to arrive home by 9:30 pm
someone much smarter than me (more than) once said ==> “this is my freaking outlet !! “
@big o: Oh, I get that totally. It was a long day. Usually though, there’s maybe 80 comments when I tune in to Grey’s cafe. Today, there is over 200.
@BKK:
people are finding him more desirable , now that he’s switched to daiquiris .
@BKK: And some, read: me, are second-semester seniors in college who are into grad school and at the moment have no motivation for anything other than finding out whether Phil Hughes or Derek Holland will break out first (and, at the risk of sounding like a college dbag, beer).
@Sabs: I like to think I remember those days, but alas it was so long ago, I think I may have imagined it.
kudos for the advice to trade Nolasco for J Johnson, the best deal I’ve made all year
@Sabs: @BKK: And some of us spent 20 years in school so we could get jobs that paid us to read razzball all day. The guidance counselor never suggested it as a career path but I sure am glad I found it on my own. That means I’m an entrepreneur, right?
@p0rk burn: The most entrepreneurial of entrepreneurs, if you ask me. Teach me your ways (because lord knows I’m not going to be reading Razzball all day as a 1L next fall).
Hardcore Angel’s fan

@Grey: Morneau + Ibanez too much for Fielder? I have Lind to fill my LF spot.
Or is Morneau + Lind more like it?
Arredondo or Santiago Casilla? Who do you think gets a save first? I’m leaning towards Casilla.
salty was 3-4 last night he’s on a 3 game hitting streak…. my catcher is Pablo sandoval, should i snap up salty in case he remembers how to hit from the catchers position???
I’m not gonna drop pablo because i think he’ll come around, but i need to put someone in there thats going to do something…. I mean 4 singles are nice, but jeeeesh…..
shoulda grabbed suzuki when he was sitting there, gone now…
and Krispie is somehow sitting on waivers in my league… worth dropping spills, teahan, slowey, duncan???
or wait til he hits a little… if he hits a little i should say
Geovany and Crush Davis for Youkilis? Balanced deal? Ripoff?
gallaraga a good stream vs KC tomorrow?
@ Grey… I’m in 12 team 7×7 league where the extra categories are: SLG, OBP & K/9, K/BB. The team looks like this: Napoli, Fielder, Utley, Reynolds, Al Ram, Abreu, Markakis, Maybin, Thome, Burrell……. Haren, Oswalt, Jar-jar, Weaver, Qualls, Franklin, Putz and Carpenter, Webb on the DL. I’m having an awful start to the season going 1-26-1…
I really feel like I have to make a move because I am getting killed in every category… There really isn’t anyone that’s a free agent worth picking up. Should I hold onto my guys or try to make a big splash for someone? I think I need another superstar outfielder but I don’t want to give up Utley for one.
Who on this list do you think I should buy low or at least for a decent price? BJ Upton, Holliday, Ichiro, Maggs, Hamilton? Or would you have someone else in mind?
@Doug Ault:
“a bunch of bushers from seattle” …. funny line
@Steve: They’re both giving a bit too much.
@Matt: Casilla
@Tony Y: You won’t regret Suzuki for long. Sure, grab Salty.
Lose Spills for him.
@Matt: I think it’s giving up too much for Youk.
@danimal35: Guess so, but I wouldn’t want Galarraga on my team for any starts.
@Maximus: I feel like you’re a new reader, cause I don’t like 4 of the five names you offered. If I were you, I’d take Webb, at the first sign of very good news — say his return from injury — and I’d trade him for the best piece you can get. Try Upton, Quentin, etc. If those big outfielders don’t work, then try and get a combo of lower tiered outfielders. Hawpe plus Dukes is one example, not the only one.
@Sabs: Trust me, you definitely won’t be fitting Razzball time in that often as a 1L. You can probably sneak a few minutes during lectures. Now the second and third years are entirely different matters. Get past the first year and you’re looking at all Razzball, all the time.
Good luck with law school. You know its not too late to change your mind, right? Once the debt starts piling up you wont have that luxury.
@Grey
How about Crush and Geovany for Fielder? Tex?
somebody dropped garret atkins in my league. Should i try to pick him up. I would have to drop either j. zimmerman or d. holland or k.johnson (but he is my only bench spot), or pettite or parra?
also who gets the better side in j.zimmerman and matt capps for matt cain
Is Andre Ethier for Alex Rios a good sell-high opp or a wash? Or could I do even better than Rios? I could use Rios’ steals because I only have Markakis, Dukes, Utley and Andrus for steals. This is an OBP and OPS league.
@Matt: Yeah, either one, especially Tex.
@Martin: Lose Holland for him.
@Martin: Cain
@SP: You can try to sell Ethier, but depends what you get for him.
pick up nunez, lose brandon wood?
Maybe a dumb question, but R Franklin, Ziegler, or Downs? Picked up Hill last night after reading this site- all drunk up at the time, but feel good about it this am…
@Zebo: Yeah, do it.
@Jonny: Ziegler
How would you rank these starters (12 team, mixed, 5×5) – or are there any standouts? (my pitching is not that strong with Lackey (DL), Lilly, Wainwright, Joba, R.Johnson, …)
Kawakami
Jimenez
A.Sanchez
Parra
Sonnanstine
Pelfry
Bush
Arroyo
Masterson
T.Hanson
-anyone else I’m missing down in this range?
Currently carrying Jimenez and Kawakami, but wondering if I’m rostering the wrong guys? Thanks.
@BabyBeluga: Kawakami, Ubaldo, Parra, Masterson, Hanson, in that order.
how bad is romero’s injury? Once he comes back, will he be a top pitcher? Is he Jobacum?
@Zebo: Knowing the Blue Jays, he’ll probably be out two years. Seems like he should be back in two to three weeks, he’s not at Jobacum’s level and doesn’t need to be held unless you have a DL spot for him.
My hitters are:
C Kurt Suzuki
C Chris Iannetta
1B Mark Teixeira
2B Brandon Phillips
3B David Wright
SS Rafael Furcal
MI Elvis Andrus (I could plug in Jose Lopez too)
CI Aramis Ramirez
OF Alfonso Soriano
OF Matt Kemp
OF Elijah Dukes
OF Carlos Lee
OF Hunter Pence
U Garrett Atkins
With that lineup I’m near the bottom in batting. last place in batting average. near the bottom in RBIs and runs. in the middle in SBs. In the middle in HRs. First overall only because the pitching is dominating. What can be done to fix this? On paper, my lineup looks better than anyone else’s out there. In the standings I’m falling far behind though.
Alexei vs Burres today
or
Peralta vs Slowey.
@Eric: It’s still early, there’s no accounting for Runs and RBIs. They’ll come in bunches. Wright, Phillips, Furcal (hopefully) and Aramis will all heat up. Hold tight.
@BKK: Alexei
@Grey: Thanks. I have no choice but to sit tight and wait.
Looking for a temp. fill in with McCann going on the DL:
Paulino
Hundley
Torrealba
Ross
Olivo
Jaramillo
-nothing good on the wire really (only Laird and Snyder on waivers that I see with regular playing time and some consideration for a 12 team 2 catcher league – but can’t see using my number 1 waiver claim on getting one of them – or should I consider it, given what’s out there?)
-better to just stream in catchers with matchups and survive for now?
-anyone you like out there on list or otherwise? Thanks.
@BabyBeluga: I grabbed Ross in one league and Hundley in another. Ross has some pop and shouldn’t kill you on average since he probably won’t have that long in there. Hundley’s playing above his head right now, not sure how long it lasts but could last until McCann comes back. If you need power, Ross… If you worried about your average, Hundley.
@Grey: I was leaning that way. He’s been languishing on my bench until he warms up but Peralta has been doing nothing to keep the starting job this week.
Me trading Hawpe for Ellsbury’s a no-brainer right? It’s an ops league tho so iuno.
What’s the deal with David Wright? He’s already struck out 20 times in 66 ABs with only 1 HR and 6 RBI.
@cubbies299: Yeah, I’d do it.
@Eric: He’s slumping, he’ll be fine.
@p0rk burn: I could change my mind, but then there’s the whole “getting a job with a bachelor’s in English and Psychology” problem. I’m also legitimately interested in the study, and I’ve enjoyed school so far — why stop now? Plus, I need to find some way to be able to afford a daiquiri or three for Grey…
Of course, it’s easy to say all this now, we’ll see if I’m singing the same tune come November. Thanks for the well wishes.
In a 14 team league, u endorsing streaming the Dorf at petco?
add phil hughes?
Would you rather deal Tulo or Al.Ramirez in this deal.
Tulo or Al.Ramirez/Bedard/D.Lee/R.Soriano for Howard/Mauer/Ethier/J.Cruz( I have soria, but I think Cruz would be good to have around.)
Whatever scenario you like best, do you like this trade for me?
in 12 team roto, which free-agent(s) to put in a claim for tomorrow. Y.Escobar/D.Young/C.Gomez.
Cheers,<3
@cubbies299: He’s had a decent start to the season. At petco, it’s risky but I’d try it.
@cubbies299: That read wrong, its not risky at petco, being that it is at petco removes an element of risk. The risk is Dorf and the pirates…which of course you already knew. Just needed to clarify.
I know you think Votto will be better than berkman, but someone wants to trade me Votto and Ray for Berkman and Motte. Unless Ray is getting saves, I don’t like it. What do you think?
@Tom: Ask for someone who is an actual closer, and has a solid lock on the job.
Drop Jimenez, Maine, Carmona, or C. Guillen for Beltre?
I have Daniel Murphy and Ryan Church in a 20 team league and Fowler, Mabyin, Murphy in a 18 teamer. Should I drop one of them to pick up Colby Rasmus or Josh Anderson?
@cubbies299: Sure
@arussell1983: Yup
@Schatzi: I’d want the Howard side.
Gomez
@Tom: I’d prefer the Votto/Ray side. But I agree with Keith, if you can get better than Ray, obviously do it.
@Doc: Maine
@SP: Lose Church and Murphy for Rasmus.
@Sabs: Good luck to you this upcoming year. I am finishing up my 3L year and have my state bar and the patent bar this summer. Fun all around.
It has been a lot of work but very rewarding. I guess it also helps having a job waiting for me in August. I’d be happy to help with any questions you have.
I’m a second year litigator – law school’s not bad, but law practice can be rough.
Check out abovethelaw.com. I’d be happy to answer questions too.
/law
Keeper league that counts OPS – Sabathia for Holliday look about right? My headache for yours?
Thanks Grey. I will try to do that deal with Tulo.
@jonatron: @tyler: Thanks, this place is awesome — where else but here can you find higher-brow fantasy baseball talk AND fellow fantasy baseballers from whom you can find support in regards to law school? I’m a long time reader here, just now getting active on the comments and forums, and it definitely enhances the Razz-perience.
Anyone know what the weather is like for the White Sox game tonight? Got three of those dudes, don’t know if I should get them out.
My outfield is feeling a bit light (recent trade that included moving Pence and got back McCann -oops!) – Have:
Bay
Ellsbury
C.Young
A.Jones
(C.Jackson, Fowler, Daniel Murphy)
Should I drop one or more of these guys for any of the following:
Rasmus
K.Morales
M.Bird?
-appreciate the great advice.
@Maitland: According to weather.com its currently 43 and raining with winds gusting up to 29 MPH.
Does anyone have any opinions on Aaron Laffey? A couple years ago he was an alright spot starter but I just don’t know what to make of him.
@Maitland: Cureently in rain delay but according to Blue Jay announcers, play will resume very shortly.
I saw Burress warming up in the Outfield, wasn’t raining.
Should I try trading Garza and Bonafacio for Greinke. Is Zach for real?
Would thier be a chance of this trade being accepted and is it fair?
@Sabs: Good to have the law firm of Sabs, jonatron, tyler and p0rk burn around.
Some of us may need a good lawyer one day:)
@G: Sure, it’s fair. Doesn’t hurt to try, Greinke is for real.
@tyler: I’d want CC.
@BabyBeluga: Lose Murphy for Rasmus.
@Rick Dempsey: I’m not a fan of Laffey.
@G: It’s sorta fair and could be accepted. I’d want Greinke.
Grey would you put Zimmerman out there against the Mets tomorrow? Their offense seems to be waking up with Beltran in the 3rd slot. Mets bats might feel heavy tomorrow after heading to da clubs tonight.
@Colin: Ha… I wouldn’t start him outside of NL-Only or deeper than 12 team leagues.
@Grey: What about a 12 team RCL, currently have him on my bench but I’m thinking, hmmmmm.
@BigFatHippo: I don’t trust him yet, so it’s a risky play. By no means an awful one, just risky.
Jeeze. Ryan Howard nobody out bases juiced grounds in to a double play. What the hell am I paying this guy for?
SEXY ALEXEI!!
@agarthered: Giddy up!
I don’t care about the fact that i’m down 6-3 in my h2h, or that my team kind of sucks, or that it’s hot as a motha in my house. It’s good to have alexei back….
not reading 200+ comments
Holland in relief? is this guy gonna start or relieve?
Nunez pitching the save sitch for the Fish. I’m sure the soundbite will be Lindstrom wasn’t available after being demolished the other night.
loving my sloweys
just take him out now! dammit, he’s went 8 strong, no walks, let the dude be done! hahaha….
@Grey: Risky is the new sexy, doin it, why not!
I start Randy “Wild Bill” Johnson and I had Upton on my bench. Double Whammy.
That vaunted slugger Michael Bourn hit a donk for me and that young speedster Josh Hamilton stole another base. Ahh, things are going as planned in the Original Repice Division!
@legalteam: second year civil litigator here too!
What’s up with Okajima? I think he’s pretty dispensible in a non-Holds league.
What about in a Holds league?
@Colin: You saw what Albert did with the bases juiced didn’t you? That’s Sir Albert to you and me.
Ryan will come around, don’t trade him.
Towles have any value now that Houston has brought him back up? Or is Pudge going to stand in his way?
@Tony Y: Holland was brought up to fill a hole in the bullpen, but the long term plan is for him to start games…
@royce!: Pudge is the starter there, stay away from Astros catchers, you’ll end up with Brad Ausmus. Pick up Yadi Molina!
Grey loves when I say that. But I’m a believer, and I’m a Monkey, and a Stone apparently. <====== (funny how that works out)
@Steve: I dispensed of him in two holds leagues a long time ago and haven’t looked back. There are plenty of MRs out there that arent crapping their pants on the mound.
@Grey: Thanks for reinforcing my belief in the Fat Prince of Mil-ler, was all ready to deal him. Finally earning his spot on my team.
You gotta earn your spot on my team, yo!
Yo, Adrian! I’m lookin at third base, see that sign, it ain’t an itchy crotch…………..
@Colin: Is that a variation of the double deuce?
@BigFatHippo: Just as you planned it up.
Asdrubal or JJ Hardy?
@Grey: Yes yes, currently tied for 3rd. And with that slugger/assassin Jason Bourne and the fleet feet of Alright Hamilton, I’m poised to move up.
Now, if I could just find my keys I’d go back to the pub!
@Dim: Hardy
@BigFatHippo: Was a bad day to be a MR. B. I got shelled on four different teams all from middle relievers.
@Colin: Weird, I did the exact same thing. Bet your league doesn’t count K/BB though (thank you 2:7 ratio!). If the real Wild Bill had aim as bad as Randy’s, the buffaloes would still be roaming the plains.
@Grey: Coffey bit me in both leagues, Nunez would have if I’d have played him. Chasing saves is grueling, shoulda bought me a $12 Salad.
I think the top closers are gonna be a lot more valuable after this year. What the heck’s so hard about getting three outs?
i have zimmerman, pettite and parra starting tomorrow against the mets, sox, and astros.
I’m tied in wins, winning by one in losses, winning 4.61-5.22 in era, loosing 1.59-1.50 in k/bb and loosing by 8 in K’s. Should i start them??
@BigFatHippo: Yeah, Coffey, Hawkins and Nunez all bit me in just about every league.
It’s really insane how badly the Angels are scuffling for runs and they bring up Wood to bench him. Hud’s talking about how he should get ABs. Hud’s about the worst announcer in the majors and for him to point out Wood should get in there is egregious.
@Martin: I’d start Zimmermann and Parra.
Angels are losing 9-4, Scioscia thinks they need more situational hitting and OBP.
What The!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brandon Wood languishes on your bench, play the kid already! Exasperating!
@BigFatHippo: Us talking about them was all they needed!
Wood really must’ve pissed off someone on that coaching staff, because the Angels never care about OBP (outside of Abreu which is a new addition). There’s no sense to playing Figgins over him. I guarantee if Wood was a slap hitter that had nothing but speed he’d be playing right now. They’ve given Morales so much rope yet Wood gets none. Very weird.
@BigFatHippo: Ha, about said the same thing. You and I should coach the Angels.
How bout it Skip, put in a resume…..
@BigFatHippo: Figgins is having a historically bad year. He may singlehandedly carry my Razzball team. He’s not even doing the little he usually does.
and btw holland pitched today 3 innings, 1 earned 2 k’s 2 walks 1 hit. Nice stats for a rookie
@grey- do you think they both can get enough K’s and wins?
@Martin: Yeah, he looked solid. He’s soooo much better than every starter on that team it’s not close. Padilla mysteriously found some velocity yesterday and was still shelled. Shocker!
@grey- well pettite plays at 8 so i can see where i stand before starting him
@Martin: I think it’s your only chance to get Ks and Wins. You’re probably going to lose K/BB and hopefully you maintain the torso on ERA.
@Grey: Somebody who’s an angel fan mentioned in the comments that Scioscia doesn’t like him, can’t remember who.
Then trade him dammit, he’s done all he can do at AAA.
I predict Mike gets fired after this year, maybe during.
@BigFatHippo: Scioscia’s been successful there, more or less. Don’t think he gets canned. Especially not with the Adenhart tragedy. Would be a bad PR move. Wood may end traded like Kotchman. The Angels seemed like they had a lot of talent in the minors two years ago and they’re letting it all flounder.
@Grey: Agreed, but Arte Moreno really wants to win. He payed a shitload for that franchise and has to be upset after last year.
He seems to be the kind of owner you want if you’re an Angel fan.
@BigFatHippo: Yeah, maybe he’ll hire Ozzie Guillen. He’d play Wood. And bat him 1st. And play him in center.
The Pirates announcers are funny. They were perplexed why Padres guys were high-fiving in the dugout down 8 to 1. So I guess they’ve never seen the Pirates high-five ever. Homer announcers kill me. Kill!
Ugh where is Morrow?
@agarthered: Hmm… Good question. I’m left with the Angels announcers talking about the rally monkey and nothing about it.
Aardsma just gave up a HR, so wherever Morrow is, Mariner’s coach betta leeeeearn.
Ugh, add Aardsma to the ugly MR day.
I give –
Bell, Heath (P, SD)
Markakis, Nick (OF, BAL)
I get –
Morneau, Justin (1B, MIN)
Johnson, Josh (P, FLA)
Not a fan of the trade by any means, but how close do ya’ll think it is? I need SP pretty badly in this league.
@Grey: Ha, don’t get to hear Pirate announcers, do they wear eye patches and sport a parrot, and a hook? Aaarghh!
I’m left with the Mad Hungarian givin out Hungo awards to the sound guys in the truck.
@Doc: It’s in your favor, just barely.
@BigFatHippo: Ha! Yeah, you gotta get the Direct TV package, local announcers around the majors are reason alone.
@Grey: Holland good for a Hold or two?
Could drop Okajima for him.
@Grey: What do you think of Rich Waltz and Tommy Hutton doing the Marlins games? I find them endearing because other than the to be expected undo praise for the Fish they seem to know their place. Hutton is usually good about acknowledging how he did play in the majors but he was by no means a star. To hear his stories of being treated like a water boy by the legitimate talent back in the day almost makes you forget the rest. Plus who doesn’t love the KFC breaks with Cookie and Striker, Jr.?
@Grey: I’ll get it when I move outta the bootheel, that’s been pushed back till June. Government bullshit.
You gotta get on the Nyjer Morgan badwagon, currently three members, me, Mrs. Morgan and his Momma.
@Grey: Thanks. Thought I might switch Markakis with Votto and see what he thinks.
@Doc: I’d keep Votto and deal Markakis.
@Doc: Agree with pork, keep Votto. Ask for more, he might not value JJ as much as we do.
@Steve: I thought he was indispensable? I don’t think Holland’s good for Holds. He’s just getting into games and for work. He’s not a Holds guy.
@p0rk burn: Easily top 3. Hutton’s great. They call it like they see it and they still talk about Conine, what’s not to love?
They still doing? Who ya gonna call? Maroone!
@BigFatHippo: Momma Morgan sends her love.
@Doc: I agree with others. I’d want Votto. Higher power ceiling. And I agree he probably doesn’t value Johnson as highly. He might think he’s fluky.
@Grey: When you need a car, truck or van? Who ya gonna call? Maroone! Ask for Leo or Matt if they keep this up.
@Grey: Read the comment again
Anyway, I’ve dispensed with him. Grabbed Teahen as a sub for A-Ram.
Just when my team was making a move, Randy J blows it for me. Thanks for the 7 walks and 10-3 ratio old man. Wow. Talk about night and day from his last start to this one…jeeze.
Hmm, start Peralta v. Perkins OR Alexei v. Halladay?
@Prince: Alexei
Do you see Rasmus getting regular at bats in Cards land? or does the 4 man outfield continue to play out with Duncan hitting fairly well? Recommending Rasmus over Murphy who has regular at bats with average right now – but Rasmus with regular playing time and his talent is >> than Murphy – see that. -concerned with at-bats.
Trade advice please,
Glen Perkins for Brett Anderson, neither will be keepers…
A dude wants to trade me Valverde and Votto for Berkman and Motte. Good enough?
Just picked Jhonny P up off waivers. You had him ranked with Alexei, Drew and Hardy in that 2nd tier of shortstops (I have 3 of them). I also see he’s 0-17 over the past week.
How would you rank these three in chances of turning it around and hitting that .280/20+/80+/100R plateau.
Alexei, Drew, Jhonny
I hate pitching. My starting rotation is…
Webb (DL…now out at least 6 more weeks…YAY!)
Beckett (I think I just threw up a little)
Gallardo (a ray of light in an otherwise dark place)
Carpenter (DL…out for probably 4-6 more weeks…YAY!)
Lilly
R. Johnson (old man river looked, well, old last night)
and the fillins for the hurt guys…
J. Zimmerman (I’m letting him start today…good or bad idea?)
Hughes (will he stick?)
I really, really hate pitching. That staff looked really good coming out of the draft. Too bad Webb didn’t tell anyone about his crappy shoulder.
On Hughes, will he stick in the Yankees rotation? If so, who gets bumped? I hope it isn’t Joba, since I kept him for 2 years in my keeper league (this year and next).
@Grey: who plays if Morales doesn’t work out? Rob Quinlan? No wonder that rope is as wide as Prince Fielder’s belt.
Getz, Casilla, Josh Anderson, Bourn, or Branyan?
Also, for holds, Delcarmen, Joe Nelson, DiFelice, Shawn Kelley, Mahay, Jensen, Grilli, Sean Green or Affeldt?
grey. thoughts on starting Masterson against yankers today?And to activate hoffman today,ill need to drop either sp sanchez or of`s swisher or your man milton brat-ley,12 team roto,thanks in advance,i think i know the answer but would like a little confirmation
@Grey: Thanks Grey and Pork. How does this look to ya’ll? Don’t know if he’d go for it. Unfortunately Alexei hit that slam last night.
I give–
Gregg, Kevin (P)
Phillips, Brandon (2B)
Markakis, Nick (OF)
I get–
Johnson, Josh (P)
Morneau, Justin (1B)
Ramirez, Alexei (2B)
do i sit pujols (and every other cardinal bat) vs harden today ?
on a side note …. nice to see the riot and bourn move up in their respective line-ups .
(shopping ellsbury , now .)
shout out to steve , today …. in my best kiwian accent ===> have a “noice” day , mate .
@big o: never sit Pujols
I have J-Zimm in all three teams of mine and I am starting him in just one. Other two teams are locked up for a win in pitching stats so no stress there. Anyway I kinda hope he will be rocked as I need Beltran and Wright to get some candies in my A team:)
@BabyBeluga: Rasmus is talented, but doesn’t have regular ABs yet, but I’m hoping Duncan succumbs to a past injury flare-up. Murphy has regular ABs, but he seems to me like a Luis Castillo in the outfield.
@Billy: I want Anderson.
@Tom: I’d want the Votto side.
@knighttown: I this order — Alexei, Drew, Jhonny.
@ron mexico’s papi: Hughes isn’t sticking without Wang continuing to falter or Burnett getting hurt. Guess what I mean is there is a good chance of him sticking.
@cubbies299: True
@AL KOHOLIC: I’d start Masterson. And lose Sanchez.
@Doc: Not crazy about the new trade.
Hey, Grey. Sorry to post again
Getz, Casilla, Josh Anderson, Bourn, or Branyan?
Also, for holds, Delcarmen, Joe Nelson, DiFelice, Shawn Kelley, Mahay, Jensen, Grilli, Sean Green or Affeldt?
@Grey:
coste or paulino as catcher # 2 ?
would leaving the spot “bare” be a viable option ?
thanking you , in advance .
@Grey: I suck at trading!
@cubbies299: Branyan is the onyl one that does something different things than the other names. If you need power — Branyan. If speed — Bourn.
Affeldt
@big o: Paulino
Wither Scherzer?
@Grey: cool,thanks,lost sanchez,still hoping the bradley/swisher can cover 1 of spot with decent pop and ave if milton (cant get right)can get right.cant get right from eddie murphy and martin lawrences movie LIFE,
@AL KOHOLIC: Ha! That was a Ted Demme jam — RIP.
@Grey: It never rocked the box office but it was great and ill 2nd that RIP to Ted
Sit Kershaw today? He doesn’t have a great track record @COL (1-3, 5.14 ERA; also 5+ ERA differential home vs. away this year).
Also, I’m going to have to avoid some starts before season end, as I’m ahead of max pace. Maybe that works itself out with pitcher injuries, etc.
ha,florida trying to start a lefty rook against the phills since thats been thier weakness this year,walkes the 1st 2(not rollins he is on the pine)and howard with a bloop r.b.i
@Prince: I’d sit him in 12 team leagues and under.
@Grey: Thanks Grey. Sit it is (10 team league).
is Jobacum no longer an automatic start?
Throw Parra against the Astros and see if he sticks?
@Dexter: Yeah. Hopefully when he gives up home runs and then walks, not the other way around. You know both are coming.
@Zebo: He is.
@Dexter: Yup
Does Redding have an value if he gets the 5th rotation spot?
@Billy: Very little outside of NL-Only or very deep mixed leagues.
@Grey: o.m.g hermida makes manny ramirez look like clemente out there today,missed 4 balls already but with todays scoring system ,1 error
Pitch A.Sanchez against the Mets tomorrow? In a 12 team mixed? Drop Jimenez to do it?
Inge againge,gotta love it
Not to sure how I’d rank these OF, I’d love some razz opinions:
Travis Snider, Daniel Murphy, Jordan Schafer, Jason Kubel,or Dexter Fowler.
@BabyBeluga: Ubaldo Jimenez? He’s still walking too many even though his K and GB rates are fantastic. You’re fine there, and I like Sanchez over John Maine. I wouldn’t mind starting a week out on that play.
Maybve the Mets sweep the Nats today, and Florida can start the Mets on their own losing streak after a Nats sweep. Don’t mess with Natstown!
@Endless Summer: *and, not or…oops.
Does anyone know what happened to D. Lee? He was pulled for Hoffpair.
Just got offered Aramis for Chris Davis and Heath Bell.
I am thinking pass might offer him Bell for Liriano.
@Grey: Ok so for this upcoming weekend on offense who do you go with (4 players) for OF & UTL? Abreu, Ibanez, Pena, BJ Upton, T Hunter, Pence?
Pitching I have Peavy & Beckett as starters, Jenks & R Franklin as relivers and than in my 3 pitcher spots I have a choice of Bills, Wainwright, Bedard, Slowey, Downs & Hanrahan…or I can drop Slowey and get Hoffmann off the DL & back starting….or just leave him in the DL
Berkman is getting on my nerves. BA 0.177 on the season, 0-13 in the last 4 games.
@BabyBeluga: Nope
@Endless Summer: Jason Kubel, Travis Snider, Dexter Fowler, Daniel Murphy, Jordan Schafer…
@BKK: Neck spasms… Didn’t see serious.
@I’m Keith Hernandez: I’d want the Davis side. I’d want the Liriano side.
@Nick: I wouldn’t drop Slowey. Pena, Upton, Ibanez, Hunter… You need to make some trades, you have too many solid bats on the bench.
@Nick: Oh, and Bills, Wainwright then Downs.
Cody Ross is about to pitch the 9th.
@Grey: This is tough, I like Slowey against KC
@Grey: Out of Abreu, Pence, Pena, Hunter, BJ Upton, Ibanez who are the top three you would try and trade and what kind of pitcher could i get in a trade with these guys? Thanks Grey!
@p0rk burn: They should have used him in the 7th and 8th.
@Grey: What’s that little ^ thingy by Brandon Wood’s name? Never seen that before.
Cueto was just dropped for Leo Nunez while Hawkins sits as a free agent. I don’t understand these idiots. Too bad I don’t have room for Cueto.
JayZ looked solid once again, even though he needed 102 pitches he had little trouble. Provided Nats bullpen won´t blow it away he could be a nice sell high candidate. what you think?
Phillies 13 runs. Howard 1 RBI for me. How can you not love Fantasy Baseball?
@p0rk burn: I missed it, was he any good?
@Nick: I’d trade whatever guys got you the best deals. Maybe Abreu for Shields?
@BigFatHippo: Hey, someone threw him a carat!
@Grey: Gave up a hit and got three outs on deep fly balls, didn’t walk anybody and topped out at 82 MPH. He started the inning facing Howard.
Apparently he pitched a perfect game in High School.
@Grey: I started Jay Z today, beteedubya. He’s got 99 problems but a pitch ain’t one!
@anoraxx: I’m keeping him around a while, see if he can carry over minor league #s to the majors. So far, so good. But aim high if you’re selling.
3 caught stealings today so far. How can you not love Fantasy Baseball?
@p0rk burn: Maybe he’ll do a reverse Rick Ankiel?
Bruuuuuuce with two donks today. God is good.
Yea much love for Bruce especially since I got him for Emilio Who
I’m on a bit of a posting binge here, but I’ve got these questions:
12 team, mixed, vanilla, 5 bench:
My closers: Lidge, Bell, Qualls, Franklin – need pitching
- would you trade H.Bell for J.Sheilds? (how stable is Franklin in your opinion? hard to tell I know with LaRussa, but I’m still going to ask
-have an offer now: C.Duncan/Maybin/Shields FOR Qualls/Adam Jones
-How real is what Adam Jones is doing? I was very high on him and have him on all my teams – so far I look like a genius – but he might be the right chip to use to get a starter (what type would he be worth?).
thanks again.
@BabyBeluga: I’d trade Bell for Shields. Jones looks good, could be a cheap 20/20 guy.
I dont have an innings requirement but do you think starting Jurrjens against the Cardinals is risky. Jair is pitching outstanding but the Cardinals have the strongest offense in the mlb so far with 6.2 runs per game and they allow the 2nd least K’s with 97. Its tempting to play Jair with the way he’s playing but I dont want to start him on a day he could possibly blow up for 5+ earned runs..whats your thoughts?
thanks in advance
I just traded Kinsler and Francisco Cordero for Quentin, Roberts, and Mo. What do you think?
Thanks!
@G: Gotta start him.
@ChCh: That’s a solid trade for you.
Any advice on this possible deal would be appreciated…Trade Corey Hart to get Josh Beckett. Other OFs I have are Markakis, Quentin, Rios, Mclouth, play 3 with a UTIL. Also have Pena who I think I like better than Hart for the UTIL spot.
@Maitland: That sounds like an owner mad about Beckett taking a gas can to the mound yesterday. I would trade him for Hart in a Hartbeat(okay, that was too corny to try).
Someone just offered me Dexter Fowler for Rick Porcello in a 20 team league. My outfielders are Ethier, Markakis, Dukes, Cust and Church and Rasmus on the bench. My starters are Greinke, Billingsley, Shields, Cain, Volstad and Porcello. Both have cool names. Both are youngilicious. I don’t particularly need Fowler but I do like those steals and him leading off.
Oh and yes, my team IS awesome, thanks.
Webb goes down,now Peavy sucks….Latroy Hawkins just winked at me
@Grey: You’re a Maybin owner – what are you doing with him?
Why does Adrian Beltre hate me Grey, why?
He doesn’t shape up soon my friend Randy the Ram’s gonna pay him a little visit!
@BigFatHippo: Not sure you’ve got too much to complain about…
@Steve: I can bitch about my starting 3rd baseman can’t I? Seems to be a weak spot I can’t overcome, he’ll never bring value in a trade till he starts hitting and when he does I won’t want to trade him.
Damn you fantasy baseball, I won’t be satisfied till I win both leagues!
I wonder if Matt Cain hates being on the giants as much as I hate him being on the giants.
@Eric W: I know one thing – I hate Brian Wilson being on the Giants.
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x33/ololo3/Matt_Cain.jpg
@Eric W: Hehe. I own Cain in one league, BTW, not Wilson so I share your despair.
i really want liriano but how much would u trade for him. Would you give up a roy oswalt?
@SP: I’d take Fowler there.
@Steve: Looking elsewhere in 12 team leagues. Holding in deeper ones.
@Martin: Oswalt for Liriano isn’t a good trade.
Cain getting screwed out of a win just cost me the wins category
Today’s 0-5 is the last of my abusive relationship with Maybin.
@Grey: He’s only in my Util spot and have Rollins/Damon/Victorino as SB/Runs guys (supposedly).
R-Spill or Murphy-Of-The-Mets as a replacement?
And hold Maybin in a keeper, yes?
@Steve: Spills and hold Maybin in keeper, yes.
i feel like jordan zimmerman had a great start and btw props on being correct on the parra, zimmerman suggestions yesterday, but i always feel like rookie pitchers will never be great their first year. I can see a 3.75 era and 1.35 WHIP at best.
@Grey: The ship has probably sailed, but is Morneau for Fielder straight up more like it?
@Steve: I’d prefer Fielder there.
@Grey: @sean: Maybin’s gone.
@BigFatHippo: You aren’t winning the RCL. The trophy shop just called asking how to spell “p0rk burn.”
@Martin: I’ve been looking at this very topic. 3.75 and 1.35 most likely are optimistic. Stay tuned.
Should I trade Bonaficio and Garza and try to get Rollins or is that even a chance. Is it a fair trade?
@Grey:
Getting frustrated with Shoppach’s PT. Is Sandoval worth the buy or am I trading apples for another batch of apples. (today’s big day aside)
@G:
That’s a heist from where I’m standing.
@Grey: I don’t get it, did Randy the Ram die?
Kidding, great flick. You’ve never steered me wrong.
@p0rk burn: Just made a major trade in the RCL.
Major Trade (Salute)……..
Safe to drop Hawkins now?
@Grey: Yeah Shields is an option for Abreu, but who are some other pitchers who would be a fair trade for Abreu or T Hunter? I need someone real solid for for my 4th starting pitcher with Beckett, Peavy & Bills ahead of them… I can’t see trading BJ Upton at this time since he is not doing well while Ibanez & Pence are not top picks. It would have to be Abreu who is a top pick & doing well or T Hunter considering his hot streak.
I am dead last in a 10 team league, due to lousy pitching. Is it bad luck or should I cut ties with some? My pitchers are Liriano, Kazmir, Vasquez, Meche, Baker, Garza, Downs, Lindstrom, Rodney.
@Nick: Big Game James will go on a streak starting right. about.. now…
If you can get him for Abreu, do it now. He’s the best you’re gonna get.
@BigFatHippo: I certainly hope so.
I just got offered Crisp, Perkins and Carpenter for Nyjer Morgan and Ian Stewart. Crisp instead of Morgan would be nice, but are Perkins and Carpenter worth Stewart?
Also, I upped my trade for Votto, but I don’t know if its good enough. First, I was offered Votto and Ray for Berkman and Motte. Now, i’m considering Valverde and Votto for Berkman and Motte. Is Valverde solid enough? Obviously, there’s no one there to take his job, so I say thats a decent deal.
@Steve: Count on it dude, he’s feeling it. The last game was a 1-0 loss, that’s not gonna happen again.
@Robert: Hold Liriano, Kaz, Vazquez, Meche, deal the others if you can. Your closers are fine but you need more than 3 in a 10 team.
@RT: I like Shoppach at catcher.
@Steve: I’d hold Hawkins for now.
@Nick: Hunter or Abreu for Wainwright or Shields, etc?
@Robert: Liriano’s bad luck. Meche’s isn’t worth it in a ten team league, Garza and Bake aren’t due for a comeback according to me, but someone might give you something in a trade for them and the others are fine.
@Tom: Must be a deep league. Yeah, I like that trade for you. Yeah, that’s decent for Votto.
You still high on Fred Lewis? He’s kinda been blowing, and that offense looks inept at best.
well, scratch that. Not blowing, but just not displaying any level of power or will to run. Iuno.
punt garza for one of the following:
hughes, snell, jimenez, bannister or parra?
@Tom: Are you getting or giving up Votto?
@cubbies299: He’s batting .350. Steals and homers will come, but he’s only a 15/15 guy, so it’s not like he’s going to explode with 10 HRs in a month.
@paulzone: Unless this is a 10 team league, you shouldn’t drop Garza. Yet. I do like Parra and Hughes better than him though.
@cubbies299: Did starting Dorf work out for you?
Should I use the #3 waiver priority to pick up Mike Gonzalez and in the meantime be required to dump B.J. Ryan. This is my #4 crappy closer spot. Advice would be greatly appreciated.
@Grey: Grey you were 2 for 2 on the whole starting Peralta vs Alexei match ups. If I were to try and trade Peralta for an SP, is he able to get anyone of value?
@Bob: Get MG.
@BKK: He should get you a 2 to 3 starter — Think Wainwright or Kershaw.
@BKK: Yea. a QS is a QS. But I doubt I’ll be buying a ticket for that wild ride in the near future. Or maybe I just gotta get a lil’ ice in them veins. All said, I finally had my first good pitching day (that wasn’t spoiled by Mr B implosions), and I instantly jumped 10 points. Yeah…
@BKK: @Grey: I respectfully disagree. Peralta has the skills to be worth a 2 or 3 but I don’t think *I* could flip him for that talent. If you can do it, by all means make it happen. If you are in a deeper league or have a manager needing help at SS/MI go for it. At the same time ‘m wincing at Kershaw. If you can flip HJonny (remember, the H is silent) for Wainwright its a fair move.
To be succinct , look at a 2/3 or as your ceiling but if you have to settle for less don’t forget who told you so.
@cubbies299: I started Parra in a tight race too, my opponent started Kershaw, so it worked out so I cleaned up most of the pitching cats. Hitting was just to close though.
Glad it worked out for you.
Would you put Baker out there on Monday?
@p0rk burn:The trouble right now is there are too many MI’s who are off to ridoinkuolus starts so JHonny’s 10th round value loses abit of its shimmer. Kershaw doesn’t really excite me though. Wainwright would be nice. Still pretty early as owners are being very cautious.
@Grey: its a 12 team roto league with w, l, s, hlds, era, whip, k, gidp. i’m not very comfortable starting garza at this point. would hate to drop him too…i doubt hughes will be a free agent for long…remember the no hitter before he got hurt the first time?
fukudome on my bench as i was driving all day!
Wow, ballsy move stealing home with a lefty up. Cool!
Ellsbury steals home with the bases loaded!
Does Ellsbury’s stealing home count as 2 SBs?
@BSA: no, he stole 2nd in the 3rd inning
@BSA: You get 1 SB, 1 run and my wallet, which is worth nothing. Be happy with it.
Is the Yankee bullpen that beat up that they need to send Pettitt out there again in the 6th with a 106 pitch count?
@Robert: I wouldn’t start Baker right now.
@Grey: Of Hughes and Holland, which would you choose for this season? And how do you think Hughes will do at DET and vs LAA this week? Thanks.
@BKK: I’m with you on Kershaw, definitely buying into him at least so far. If you have him I think he’s worth trading to people that are waiting for the “proper” correction. He might be legitimate down the road, or even this season, but his ERA will probably end up at 3.74. Note the 4.
@BKK: Yes.
@Drev: Holland for the season, Hughes for this week and the foreseeable future until Holland is a starter.
I hate Miller and Morgan; is it against the stream to say Miller is worse than Morgan?
Did J. Upton really just have a solid week? I really hope this is a sign of things to come for young Upton. I am more impressed by the two walks today than the two homers in as many days.
What side do you want in a Fielder for Zimmerman and Gallardo trade
@aconstipatedmonkey: Fielder
My league has D Price and Kershaw on free agents, I know they shouldn’t be there, but my team is so stacked its hard to know who to drop for them. I do have Scherzer, would he be worth dropping for one of them? Which one?
@Joe: I wouldn’t drop Scherzer for one, but they should be on a team.
Is Mcann a wait and see or buy low?
are buying low on BJ Upton? Could offer the flying hawaiin or grandy
if you had to pick one LF for the rest of the season, are you taking Ibanez or Lind? 12-team, H2H…
@I’m Keith Hernandez: Grandy for BJ is better, but if you get him for Victorino you are still ahead.
@I’m Keith Hernandez: I’ve got an owner looking to sell him as well. I’m not sure what would be good value for his services. I’m positive that I could get him straight up for Gallardo, but I don’t know if I’m willing to part with him.
Grey, I’m sure this has been discussed but should I be worried about Lance Berkman?
@Steve: Steve. Ibanez.
@p0rk burn: Yeah. Kind of overthought that one. The answer’s obvious.
@I’m Keith Hernandez: Buy low.
@I’m Keith Hernandez: Yes, and I’d offer Grandy.
@Pops: No, I wouldn’t worry about Berkman, just a cold start.
@Pops: I’ve got some pitchers I could offer as well, Oswalt, Wainwright, J Johnson, Slowey. HArd to guess BJ’s value and I dont want to start with an insulting offer.
Iannetta and Wandy Rodriguez for Mccann, who wins?
@I’m Keith Hernandez: I’d buy low on BJ. It will just take him some time to get going. I wouldn’t offer Josh Johnson, maybe Roy Oswalt, and definitely the other two. I wouldn’t care about insulting the owner, because if BJ continues to slump he may have to revisit your trade if it is the best offer around.
Drop Corpas (or Lindstrom?) for Masterson or Perkins? I have 4 closers out of 12 total pitchers .. not sure if that factors into it.
What would a fair trade to offer someone for Dan Haren???
