Attention Deficit Drops
You have ADD and you have no idea how this sentence will end because you’re already reading the comments. You drafted Hanley and traded him for Bonifacio. You’re glad Marco Scutaro has 3rd base eligibility so you can drop Chris Davis. Webb is lucky he was DL’d because you were about to drop him for Kevin Millwood. You’re trigger finger is itching and only Nyjer Morgan can scratch it. You’re also potentially losing your league in April.
Don’t drop guys that just happen to have a bad one or two weeks to start the season. In general, anyone that you drafted in the first ten rounds, should be untouchable in April. You need to let your Clydesdales carry your beer. Maybe you bench one that is severely struggling, but don’t fall victim to Attention Deficit Drops. Sure, Alexei Ramirez is not doing anything for you right now, but you don’t let him go for “Current Hot 2nd Baseman.”
I realize this isn’t as easy as it sounds. The trouble lies in the fact that a lot of guys burst on the scene in April, never cool off and can carry your fantasy baseball team to a championship. So you don’t want to sit on your hands (especially if you have gas). If you took a flier on Asdrubal for your MI spot, lose him for the “Current Hot 2nd Baseman.” That kind of move shouldn’t hurt you as long as you can go back to Asdrubal if he gets hot (hot Asdrubal — hehe). Usually Utility, MI, 5th outfielder spots and catcher, if you punted, are the most flexible. In general, if you think someone will just sit there on waivers if you drop them, then lose them for the player who is on fire. You can always go back when the hot player cools off. There’s a fine line between reacting and panicking. Walk the line, Johnny.

Grey. I think I can get this owner to trade me Wainwright for Hill/Kubel. Cha-mother-fucking-ching
@cubbies299: That seems pretty lopsided in your favor.
April 14th, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Milledge officially sent to the minors. I guess Bowden really is gone…

Josh Beckett, SP BOS
Latest News
Boston pitcher Josh Beckett has been suspended for six games and fined by Major League Baseball, which determined he intentionally threw a pitch near the head of the Angels’ Bobby Abreu last week. Beckett also was cited for “aggressive actions” after the pitch that led to the benches clearing Sunday, according to Bob Watson, vice president for discipline in the commissioner’s office. If Beckett appeals, any penalties would be delayed until after a hearing.
(Updated 04/14/2009).
Analysis
We have to figure Beckett will appeal, which wouldn’t be heard until the Red Sox head to New York for the first time May 4 and 5. We also figure Beckett has a pretty good case to get the suspension reduced so it won’t affect a turn in the rotation. Even if it isn’t, the Red Sox can have him drop his appeal when an off day would allow Beckett to merely move a day back off his regular turn. Track this news in the coming days and weeks, but it shouldn’t keep you from starting Beckett at all.

Cole Hamels for AJ Burnett, straight up. How does it stack up?
April 14th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Hey, SOME people actually drafted Marco Scutaro! >:O
April 14th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Justin Upton was just dropped in my league. I have the 2nd waiver priority. I should use it to pick him up and drop Kendry Morales, correct? I was planning on holding onto my waiver pick for when Strasburg comes up (I know I shouldn’t hold my waiver, but this is a keeper league that has strict keeper rules).

nizzice, forshizzice. with an orange slizzice
April 14th, 2009 at 12:39 pm
Should we be scooping up the Dukes now? I love him but only have Werth or zimmerman to drop. Nothing like a nutcase on your team though.
April 14th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
drop pelfrey for dukes? i’m a little overloaded at OF right now with J. Bruce, Holliday, Granderson, Spilborghs, and Burrell, but I might be able to flip one of these outfielders for something and cut loose a struggling pitcher. only 5 bench spots, so the abundance of OF’s would be a problem if I can’t in fact flip one…
April 14th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Good post Grey. I try to follow that pretty closeley except, being in a 10 teamer, I’ll try not to touch guys I’ve drafted in the 12th round or up. I’ve dropped a few guys I got in the 15th, 19th, and 20th rounds already, replacing them with Lind, Bonifacio, and Hudson. My 2b position is not completely stable since I waited until the 14th round to grab Jose Lopez. Since he’s now batting in the 6th/7th spots in the Seattle order and offers nothing major in any category, he’s officially on the bubble.
I had benched Chris Davis but got sort of lucky last night that Aramis was benched for back stiffness, and I inserted Davis in at 3b. There’s no way I’d drop Davis and anyone who drops him is crazy.
April 14th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
Hey Grey. I’d love some feedback on this one. I just completed a three for two trade that involved me sending Dye, Saunders, and Burrell to another team for Adam Jones and Beltran. With the newly opened roster spot, I’d like to pick up a starter to replace Saunders. My current rotation is Peavy, Billingsley, and Kershaw with Price on my bench and Esocobar stashed on the DL. As you can see, SOs aren’t going to be much of an issue for me, but I’d like to pick up a starter that will keep the BBs and WHIP down. I’m looking at Maholm or Lohse, but I’m intrigued by the prospect of nabbing someone with a lot of upside, like Tommy Hanson, Homer Bailey, or Edwin Jackson. Advice?
April 14th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
I dropped Lind before the season started for Luke Scott…. i forgot about your, lind could be great post..
April 14th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
@Grey: I still think trading Holliday before he drops out of 1st round value is a good idea.
April 14th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
If you have got hot Asdrubal, you should take an R-Spill.
April 14th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
@Billy: I used my coveted 1st waiver wire pick to scoop Lind a few days ago.I was a little shocked when he was cut loose,and it allowed me to move another of’er for a closer.
@sean: Thanks for the two heads ups!
@arthur: I want Hamels.
@Pilkington: Hehe
@Ralph: I like Upton’s upside, but he’s struggling a lot. I still like him more than Morales.
@Team Ram Rod: Oh yeah.
@nick m.: Get rid of Pelfrey, but filling up on OFs isn’t ideal. Trade them.
@Frank Rizzo: Agreed on Lopez. He’s bubble material.
@G-RAM: First off, great trade for you. I’d grab Jackson, but not necessarily start him immediately.
@Billy: Oh, Billy.
@Doug Ault: I never thought he was first round value this year… Unless you play in a 25 team league.
re: Lind — Nice!
April 14th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Should I drop Milton Bradley for either Elijah Dukes or Delmon Young? Please rank the 3 of them.
April 14th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
@Grey: re Holliday:Sporting News had him ranked 5th, with him going 11th on average.
@Eric: Dukes, Young, Bradley, in that order.
@Doug Ault: They’re still around?
April 14th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
I’m looking over Dukes’ stats. Is he similar to Chris B. Young? I see good pop, stolen base potential, and a low batting average.
April 14th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
@Gey:Maybe I should expand my fantasy horizons.I’ve been playing Sporting News Draft and Trade for 6 years………..I feel…….yesterdays news
April 14th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
Haven’t seen it posted yet, but Lastings Milledge was sent down today.
April 14th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
check that…. was in the wrong comments thread.
April 14th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
hey how do you guys think Nelson Cruz turns out by the end of this year, in a gut instinct sense; Ludwick/Quentin type territory, or more like Adam LaRoche in the outfield, OR back in AAA by August?
April 14th, 2009 at 2:11 pm
I think i need to talk to someone to get over dropping lind before the season started, I cry inside for every HR he hits… Maybe Grey could open a fantasy counseling session…
@Eric: More or less, should have a better average, little less speed (though maybe the same steals).
@Doug Ault: Gotta walk first.
@yoshinorimike: Might be tremendous, but his downside is just as possible. Hopefully 30/10, but could be in the minors by June.
@Billy: You’re gonna be okay… You’re gonna be okay… Say it with me.
April 14th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
@Billy, not to rub it in but I gotta feel good as a Lind-holder that all three of his homers have had real muscle to them, either straight away center 400-foot plus no-doubters, or this one end of the bat opposite field flick that still made it over the wall.
wait I guess that was totally rubbing it in~ of course we’ll see how it lasts…
P.S. I’m new here so if my attempt to direct my comment at Billy doesn’t come out, can someone inform me of the proper way to do it?
April 14th, 2009 at 2:25 pm
@#27 Alright Grey, so gut choice, which is it, even if you feel only 51-49 that way; minors or 30-10?
April 14th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Bench strategy ADD question.
I am in a league that overvalues closers to a degree I have never seen. I just traded Uggla and Brox for Chase so I have one roster spot opening up.
Is it better to drop my 6th starter Randy Johnson and bench player Zimmerman and pick up Zumaya (stash on DL), Aardsma, (Balfour/Wheeler) and Arredondo.
I am leaning twds holding Zimmerman and picking up Zumaya + two more. What you all think?
@yoshinorimike: 30/10
And you can direct a comment at someone by clicking on the arrow next to the person’s timestamp.
April 14th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Which 2b off the wire do you like better? Weeks or Aaron Hill? Or even Fontenot. I may be platooning my 2b. One of these 3 guys and Hudson.
April 14th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I think Cruz around 30 HRs with a batting average in the .260s. #3 or #4 outfielder in mixed leagues.
@Team Ram Rod: Drop Randy for Aardsma and grab Arredondo. Or grab Zumaya and DL him and then grab Arredondo.
@Team Ram Rod: Actually… Strike that. Drop Randy, grab Wheeler and Aardsma.
@Frank Rizzo: Weeks
April 14th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
@Grey: thanks Grey. Success!
I’m also inclined to think that so long as he maintains the signs of plate discipline he displayed last year, he’ll be worth holding onto through a slump or two; his homers have been absolutely crushed this year thus far.
Then again I just found this which seems to sum up Cruz’s risk/rewards in a far more thorough way than I could manage:

April 14th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Drop Ellsbury for Lind?
I dont need the steals, and Ellsbury is stinking up right where he left off.
April 14th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
I wouldn’t drop Ellsbury. If you don’t need the steals, trade him.
April 14th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
I agree with Eric. Somebody will covet Ellbury. You may have to package him to get what you really want though.
April 14th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
My league just made the following trade:
Pujols & Wainwright for Ryan Howard and Papelbon.
I objected to the trade as I thought it was lopsided. 4 others objected too. The commissioner just approved it. Was it really lopsided?
April 14th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
@Probable Party Starter: Forgot to mention that this particular league is shallow. Adam Jones, Vernon Wells, David Ortiz also available.
I have so much more trouble with shallow leagues than with deep ones. Should I have taken one of those guys instead?
April 14th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
Shallow?!?? I’d say. How many players were drafted? 7 batters and 5 pitchers? That’s ridiculously shallow to have players like that available. In that shallow of a league, why don’t you just pick up one of those guys and leave Lind out there on the waiver wire. You really shouldn’t have any unknowns on your roster if it’s that shallow. Hard to justify investing in a sleeper when players like that are free agents.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
@Eric: no kidding. 8 teams in the league, and I already feel like I have stocked squad.
I guess Lind stands out as the one guy tearing it up right now. this post definitely speaks to my quick pull on taking him. Also I dont see much risk if someone grabs Ellsbury and I end up with Adam Jones when Lind’s streak ends.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
@Grey: Would you drop or hold Milledge?
I have no bench room.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
@Eric: I don’t think the trade is that bad, actually. But I’m also not a big fan of voting down trades in general.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
@Eric: I don’t believe that trade should have been vetoed. I could make an argument for the Pujols side of it, especially if I had extra relief pitching on my roster. I also saw Papelbon pitch against the Angels and he looked like a guy with an arm injury.
@BigFatHippo: Yeah, you gotta drop him.
EDIT: Cuz.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
@ Falcon: you’re right. There isn’t much risk in that shallow of a league since good replacements are out there. I wouldn’t play in such a league since every team is all all-stars. It becomes a matter of luck as to whose all-stars play better. How many players are on each team?
April 14th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Thanks, I thought so.
How many kids with ADD does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
April 14th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Speaking of trades, we have a trade pending in one of my leagues consisting of Jon Lester and Howie Kendrick for Ian Kinsler. I think that one is pretty bad, but I’m not sure I’m going to vote for a veto.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
I was offered Alexei plus Nolasco plus Morneau for Pedroia plus C Young plus Pena in a league where Ellsbury is my only other solid source of SBN’s and OBP is a stat instead of BA. Thoughts?
April 14th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
That’s some nice validation, as Lastings was the first guy I dropped this year. Pour out some $5 AAA beer.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
@Grey : Ouch!
April 14th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
@Eric: Does it matter if it’s lopsided? A trade is trade. Those guys worked out an agreement that they liked. As long as there was no collusion (which is hard to prove), it’s none of the other teams’ business. Let the two guys manage their teams the way they want.
Also, without knowing the rules and settings of the league and needs of each team, it would be difficult for strangers on blog to say if it’s lopsided.
@BigFatHippo: How many?
@Nathaniel_g: Which Young? Tally or Krispie?
@AZ Bobblehead: Some trades are obviously lopsided, assuming normal leagues. And I think unless someone says 8 team or 15 team most assume 10 or 12 team… Not that I have any idea what trade you guys are talking about, because I lost track of the comments.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
@ AZ Bobblehead:
We play in a private league. The two making the trade are husband and wife. Pretty easy to guess there was some collusion. She’s also a rookie. My gut feeling is that he was giving her a favorable trade to help her team out thinking that he can fix his team with pickups. He’s addicted to picking up hot hitters. He’s already picked up Emilio Bonifacio, Jordan Schafer, Chris Duncan, and Andruw Jones. He’s finished near the bottom in batting the past 2 years, but he always gets off to a hot start this time of year.
April 14th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
@Grey: Hey, lets go ride our bikes……..
April 14th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
@Grey: Tally. I like him, but I think Nolasco might be worth the upgrade.
@BigFatHippo: Hehe
@Nathaniel_g: So many pieces moving around, it’s tough to judge without seeing your team, but you are getting the better players, which is always a good sign.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
@Grey: Would you sit Meche vs. Texas Friday?
I know you like throwing studs vs. whoever, but I don’t consider him a stud.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
@BigFatHippo: Roll the dice, bro.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
@BigFatHippo: Sorry. I’m a pain in the ass.
@BigFatHippo: I don’t either. I’d sit him in a 12 team league and smaller.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
@Grey: He’s pitching so well I hate to, but I agree. Too many lefties in that Texas lineup.
@Steve: You’re also a stalker, I can’t sneeze without you saying gizzunt gesuni gazundi, some german word.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
@Grey: Some jackass has Kelly Johnson absolutely stinging the ball in my auction league. Should I offer Prince Fielder for him?
April 14th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
@BigFatHippo: Guzundheit! You can have Swish for Fielder if you like.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
@Grey: Drop Fowler or Bonifacio for a pitcher?
Case for Fowler: Upton, Dukes and Maybin have all been dropped. I’d like to carry one of them for the breakout — but if someone grabs Fowler I’ll take Maybin or Dukes.
Case for Bonifacio: Even his extreme upside — oodles of steals — he’s not going to unseat Brandon Phillips or David Wright (or see time in my Util). So I’m just holding him a) out of grudging pride, b) so someone else doesn’t get him and c) dunno. Thought there was a c.
?
April 14th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
@Steve: KellyfrickinJohnson, 3 homers in a week, are you kidding me? You can come back to earth anytime now.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:30 pm
@Baron Von Vulturewins: c) cause you love the Rookie Nookie.
@Baron Von Vulturewins: Drop Bonifacio — now may lightning strike me down.
Case against Bonifacio — He’s steals and nothing more. Fowler has more upside.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Looks like Davis is heating up a bit!
April 14th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
@BigFatHippo: Damn! I knew there was a c!
@Grey: I was afraid you’d say that.
I’m going to look like a jack-ass after trying to peddle his speedy ass to every owner in the league.
I assume you like Fowler over Maybin and Dukes, as of right now at least?
How does Milledge getting AAAed effect Dukes playing time?
@Baron Von Vulturewins: I like them both better than Bonifacio, to be honest. Bonifacio’s ceiling is pretty low. If you think you can get something for Bonifacio in a trade, then drop Fowler. In your shallow outfield league, one of them will be there.
Dukes’s playing time is boosted without Lastings. By a lot.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
@Grey: My question is: Drop Fowler for Dukes? As my flyer OF on the bench?
Also, Felipe Lopez, Super Utility Man, is also in the mix here, in case you think I should chuck him instead of any of the above.
@Baron Von Vulturewins: Drop Fowler for Dukes.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
For everybody that is only seeing the Vazquez K total in a boxscore and not the actual game: Don’t pick him up on the strength of his 12 (or whatever its up to now) Ks alone – the Marlins are waving the bat at anything near the plate. Uggla whiffed on a ball that bounced a foot in front of the plate and a foot outside.
Don’t expect this many Ks against a disciplined team. Stupid kids.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:48 pm
@Grey: Nyjer Morgan or Dukes? For a bench spot with upside.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
Playing the lukewarm hand at SS – Yuniesky or The Dribble?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
@Billy: That should ease the pain a little…
April 14th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
@Steve: You have serious SS issues if it’s between those 2. What, no MI?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
Grey – does Kelly Johnson’s early power uphold and I hold on to him. Or should I package him with Joe Nathan for an upgrade?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
@BigFatHippo: It’s in the RCL. Weeks at MI, punted SS right til the end and drafted Lowrie. He’s gone so for now it’s just whatever schmohawk I like the look of.
Maybe we can work something out?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
@Steve: Damm skippy, not!
Think I’ll hold onto Michael Boring Young and Theriot and watch you squirm.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
@yoshinorimike: great article on cruzin,im sticking with him
April 14th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
@BigFatHippo: you ARE seeing Morgan’s upside right now. Only a precipitous fall from grace to come.
PS: Speaking of trades: someone in my league just traded Kemp, Fuentes, Inge, and DLee for CC and the Unit. I’m not going to veto cause that’s not how I roll, but I can’t even begin to evaluate this trade…
PPS: Beltre might be swinging like crap, but he plays a gorgeous 3B
April 14th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
@BigFatHippo: i got theriot,bonifacio,pedroia and fontenot
April 14th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
@sean: So you like Dukes going forward? Nyjer’s playing every day, think the same happens with Dukes now that Milledge gone?
re: Trade, yeah wierd. Kemp for CC would have been enough.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Someone just dropped BJ Upton in a 12 team league and Im high on Ian Stewart but was that a smart move. It was basically between dropping him, Loney or Nady. Will this add/drop work out in the long run?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
@G: Someone dropped BJ Upton? In your league? Is this a public Yahoo! league? I hope this person was not you.
And you are wondering whether or not to drop Ian Stewart for BJ?
Yes, do that. Drop whoever and pick up BJ Upton if you can.
Also, think about finding another league.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
@G: you got a little leaguer in your league
April 14th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
@G: Is this “someone” you? No, thats not a smart move. I wish I played in leagues where people dropped players like BJ. Last year a jerk-face in one of my leagues dropped Dunn in July. The sad part is he sat there for a few weeks before I finally picked him up . . . just in time for his HR binge.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
yeah i was busy dis weekend and aint got time and he dropped him late sunday and i just realized. Lucky i got #1 waiver wire priority so lets hope I get him since I dont know the way yahoo works the waiver wire priority..yall know? if i have #1 does that mean i automatically get him as long as i claim him before waiver process ends?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
Do you do Hamels/Aaron Hill/Ibanez for Beltran? Methinks no. I’m giving up too much
April 14th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
@G: Yup, you now own a 3rd rounder for nuttin. Sweet!
April 14th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
@cubbies299: If you’re strong enough in pitching do it. Beltran’s worth it. Hill=Blah.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
@BigFatHippo: I have Lowe/Vazquez/Kazmir/Weaver with Price in the minors (besides hamels). I was looking to swing a trade of Hill/Kubel for wainwright. Should I do the trade if I can acquire Wainwright on the side? (aka is my staff good enough? Ignore hill in the previous trade, then, as I’ll find a capable trade replacement there)
April 14th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
yeah too bad i couldnt get in da razzball commenter leagues cuz i was busy da week of dey drafts but yeah i kinda hate playin wit little leaguers on yahoo cuz newbs like the guy just dropped Upton. I mean I kinda like it but at the same time takes out the competition of the league
April 14th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
btw was it smart to drop stewart for him cuz he was like my worst player or wouldd it be better to drop Laney or Nady?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
@cubbies299: Who’s your outfield besides Ibanez?
April 14th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
@G: Stewart’s not getting enough PT, you’re fine.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
@BigFatHippo: Kemp/Quentin/Chrisby with reserves of Gardner/FLewis. I don’t need outfield… but i love me some beltran and am scared of Hamels in a huge way. I fear him something powerful. Not enough to move him at 10 cents on the dollar, but still.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:12 pm
someone dropped wang. worth a waiver pickup or is he dunzo?
April 14th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
@cubbies299: Doode, you’re getting a Beltran.
Huge upgrade over Ibanez and Krispy. You may be able to shop Krispy for an equal pitcher if he gets hot. But if you get Wainwright for that shizz, you win.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
drop milledge or hold on does anybody have da head up on his return
April 14th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
@cubbies299: There’s been a lot of Wang-waiving going on. If you’ve got room, he’s prolly worth a stash.
@Anyone Watching: How does Scherzer look?
April 14th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
@BigFatHippo: I thought Dukes was a better looking player than Milledge coming into the season, but I’m not really sold on either of them. Either is better than Morgan over 162 though.
Morgan’s only walked once in 31 ABs in the leadoff spot. How long can the streak possibly last with no plate discipline? Survey says 31 ABs.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
@Steve: haven’t seen yet. just switched over. carp’s pitch count through the roof already (51 through 2.1)
April 14th, 2009 at 7:28 pm
@G: Natty’s more concerned with his defense than his bat. I’d be concerned with both. He just turned 24, they’ll probably play him at different outfield spots in AAA for a big stretch of the season. This is purely speculation on my part, take it for what you will.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
@BigFatHippo: Yeah, i know. I love me some beltran, but dooode… if I don’t get Wainwright, I’m loooking at Kazmir/Lowe/Vazquez/Weaver… it’s 14-team mixed and the waiver wire is shallow as shit. I could get shawn hill perhaps and david purcey and round out the rotation. If I do the trade, my offense is
C: Ianetta
1B: Morales/Laroche blehtoon
2B: Brian Roberts
SS: Tulo
3B: Wright
OF: Kemp
OF: Quentin
OF: Beltran
Util: Hawpe
Util: Krisby
BN: Frlewis/Krisby/Kubel/Alex Gordon/Gardner
SP: Kaz/Vazquez/Lowe/Weaver/Shawn Hill/Purcey
RP: Mariano/Corpas/Wade/Juan Cruz
DL: Zumaya/Kelvim

@Steve: Not good now, back to back doubles by Pujols and Duncan plates a run. They hit em hard too. Man I hate late games, did I ever mention that?
April 14th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
@Steve: greg just added dukes in our league,figure he`s punting k`s
April 14th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
@Steve: live arm, saw him hit 96, trouble throwing secondary pitches for strikes, pujols and duncan just teed off on him though and he walked the next guy
his motion is a lot more controlled than last year
April 14th, 2009 at 7:38 pm
@sean: But Yadi just tee’d off on him. Yadi!!!!!!
April 14th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
@cubbies299: Get Wainwright first, then make the trade. If you don’t get Adam, I’m not sure you can afford to deal Hamels.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
@AL KOHOLIC: It’s 4th and 18.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
carp bows out to inj
April 14th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
Fuck, Carp is hurt. fuckfuckfuck
April 14th, 2009 at 7:51 pm
@BigFatHippo: FUCK is right. As a Cardinal’s fan this could not be a bigger blow. However, from what I saw, he was only clutching his side, which could mean its some sort of ribcage injury. As long as it’s not that elbow…
April 14th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
A ribcage injury isn’t great for a pitcher either, but it may be of shorter duration. If he hurt the connective tissue thats a problem what with the twisting and all. Look up what the connective tissue is called yourself – dammit Jim, I’m a lawyer not a doctor.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
@Billy: The rib bones connected to the…………fuck, I’m not saying it. Card fan here too, can’t think of a worse thing to happen this early.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
kazaam! villanueva double ends me with the terrible inning and taking away a save opp from cordero. at least i had votto and phillips who did the damage
April 14th, 2009 at 8:05 pm
@BigFatHippo: I just heard it was an oblique thing now…could be the Cardinals Spin Machine hard at work or maybe, just maybe, the truth.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
I hate ESPN talk about Carp
April 14th, 2009 at 8:10 pm
Maxie! That’s my boy!
Surprised they left him in to hit – 80+ pitches after 5…
April 14th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
@Steve: Oh.
He isn’t.
And they didn’t.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:19 pm
Carpenter departed prior to the fourth inning of his start on Tuesday night with a strained left rib cage, FSN St. Louis reports.
Spin:
The Cardinals’ PR department provided the info to the broadcast booth, explaining that Carpenter suffered the injury while swinging during one of his at-bats. He’ll be evaluated again on Wednesday, but it appears as though the Cards may have avoided disaster here if there’s truly nothing wrong with his shoulder or elbow
I was about to drop Randy today. Carp is my 5th starter and Randy my 6th.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
@Steve: Re: Scherz… I never saw him pitch live last year but I was very impressed for his first start today. He’s a little bit wild but, man, that fastball is wicked. He was regularly hitting 95 then he was hitting 98 when he faced Pujols.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
I have 3rd Waiver Priority…..
The following two people were just dropped in my league 14 team Mixed
Jay Bruce
Stephen Drew.
I have a crowed OF w/
Markakis
Damon
Hunter
Lind
Braun
but I’m thinking how much trade power Bruce will have.
I have Alexi and Furcal at MI.
Thoughts please?
April 14th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Carpenter will be fine. It was just pull no big whoop.
I panicked and dropped Villanueva tonight. I think it was the right move. I just watched him give up 3 runs and he looked horrible. He topped out at 88 mph. I could care less if he’s closing while Hoffman is out, I think that homer to Soriano killed his confidence. He’s overrated IMO too. I picked up Heilman instead. Better team, already has 3 holds and 1 win. I have 3 other closers anyway and am last in holds so this should help. That Brewers team looks like walking Zombies right now. No one is hitting, their pitching is a mess. Not too good right now. I guess Macha gets fired first if this keeps up.
April 14th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
@Steve: Why is Scherzer your boy? I graduated from high school with the motherfucker!
April 14th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
@Billy: Ha! You win hands down.
I have him on a couple of teams, that’s all!
April 14th, 2009 at 9:00 pm
@Steve: Ya Max and I had a cheating ring in AP US History and Latin. No wonder he was Big 12 All Academic in college.
You ever see his eyes before? Two different colors. Shit is crazy.
April 14th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
@Billy: As long as he does the business, I don’t care if he has one eye in the middle of his forehead.
April 14th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
@Steve: George Mitchell might care a little bit if he was sporting a eye there.
good news for Matsuzka owners does not appear to be a injury reason to be pulled after 1 inning he just sucks.
@BigFatHippo: Dukes.
@Denys: Package Johnson with Nathan for Phillips or Kinsler.
@Boyle: How could those guys get dropped in a 14 team league? That’s crazy. Well, you should get them both, but I’m not sure if you have the guys to drop. If it’s between Lind and Bruce, you should grab Bruce. I don’t see someone to drop for Drew, but you should get him.
April 14th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
I just wanted to say I love the swing of emotions from “god dammit, CoJack isn’t playing tonight and he’s in my utility spot” to “hell yeah, 1/1 and a 3 run shot, thanks CoJack!”
April 14th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
Oh Qualls, you pathetic slob. Glad I don’t own him tonight. At least Drew will get another AB.
Got in my waiver for Dukes. Hoping my leaguemates aren’t paying attention b/c I’m 7 back in priority.
April 14th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
@p0rk burn: Yeah, that’s much better than the swing of emotions from “hmm, looks like Reynolds isn’t in the lineup tonight… better make sure I sit him” to “Sonofabench!!!”
April 14th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
@Frank Rizzo: The least he could have done is give up another so Franklin got a save opp.
April 14th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
Drew triples……..bitchin
April 14th, 2009 at 9:43 pm
@Dingo: While that does burn, the unfortunate events that led to the coining of the phrase are far, far worse my friend. The screen shot is in the forums (which aren’t working right now) but i think it was something like 3 home runs and 9 RBIS left on my bench by two players last year.
You stupid, stupid, stupid p0rk.
April 14th, 2009 at 9:48 pm
thanks krispie for the stellar ab
April 14th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
@Grey: I’d like to grab Wolf for my H2H league to replace Wang.
Drop Motte, Lyon or Wade?
@Steve: Motte
April 15th, 2009 at 12:09 am
drop Cantu to pick up Zimmerman off waivers?
@yoshinorimike: Nope
April 15th, 2009 at 12:54 am
@Grey: ok then, drop Aaron Hill for Zimmerman? Hill is util, picked him up as insurance in case my 2B/SS slot R. Weeks decided to totally crap the bed (which he seems to not be doing thus far).
April 15th, 2009 at 3:00 am
Dropped Burriss for Bartlett, just because of the difference in lineups (and I dont know if Burriss is that good of a hitter). Am I going to miss out on loads of steals or was that fine?
April 15th, 2009 at 11:57 am
@Tom:
Bochy announced today, that Burriss would hit out of the 2 hole more often. Or better, he said Edgar would hit 8th..
