Cheers, Bar patrons! Ready for yet another look at the coming week’s two-start pitchers? Who should you stream? Who should you avoid? Let’s find the bottom of this proverbial bottle together!

The Top Shelf

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Gerrit Cole, NYY BAL(MO) @TB(SU)
Corbin Burnes, MIL @SD(TU) @STL(SU)
Shane McClanahan, TB MIA(TU) NYY(SU)
Max Fried, ATL PHI(TU) MIA(SU)

Notes

  • Oof, the Top Shelf is sparse this week!
  • It should come as no surprise that this foursome are safe plays, and they all are, but I’m calling out Gerrit Cole and Corbin Burnes as “Duh amongst Duhs” when it comes to double-dippers this week.

The Well

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Luis Garcia, HOU CLE(MO) @SEA(SU)
Jose Berrios, TOR @STL(MO) @LAA(SU)
Sonny Gray, MIN DET(TU) KC(SU)
Zack Wheeler, PHI @ATL(MO) @NYM(SA)
Alex Cobb, SF NYM(MO) @CIN(SU)
JT Brubaker, PIT COL(MO) @SD(SU)
Chris Archer, MIN DET(MO) KC(SA)
Walker Buehler, LAD @WSH(TU) @ARI(SU)
Eduardo Rodriguez, DET @MIN(TU) CLE(SU)
Nick Pivetta, BOS @CHW(TU) BAL(SU)
Noah Syndergaard, LAA TEX(TU) TOR(SU)
Marco Gonzales, SEA OAK(MO) HOU(SU)
Pablo Lopez, MIA @TB(TU) @ATL(SU)
Triston McKenzie, CLE @HOU(MO) @DET(SA)
Tyler Mahle, CIN CHC(TU) SF(SU)
Dane Dunning, TEX @LAA(TU) @OAK(SU)
Miles Mikolas, STL TOR(MO) MIL(SU)
Zach Logue, OAK @SEA(TU) TEX(SU)

Notes

  • Lots of possible good plays here, but no slam-dunks.
  • As per usual, these are basically in order of my confidence, so Oakland lefty Zach Logue, getting the 4th and 5th starts of his career this week, is the weakest play here.
  • Noah Syndergaard is one I’d like to call out, as in years past, you might look at a twofer against the Rangers and Blue Jays as an avoid situation, but this is two home starts for Thor against two bottom-half scoring offenses. Roll those dice!
  • Yes, that’s Walker Buehler down here in The Well. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I mean, not really. He’s still very good. But a pair of road starts in a week isn’t easy for anyone.

The Bar Mat

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Josiah Gray, WSH LAD(TU) COL(SU)
James Kaprielian, OAK @SEA(MO) TEX(SA)
Tucker Davidson, ATL PHI(MO) MIA(SA)
David Peterson, NYM @SF(MO) PHI(SU)
Tyler Anderson, LAD @WSH(MO) @ARI(SA)
Zack Greinke, KC @ARI(MO) @MIN(SU)
Kyle Freeland, COL @PIT(TU) @WSH(SU)
Kyle Gibson, PHI @ATL(TU) @NYM(SU)
Drew Smyly, CHC @CIN(MO) @CHW(SU)
Zach Plesac, CLE @HOU(TU) @DET(SU)
Adrian Houser, MIL @SD(MO) @STL(SA)
Joan Adon, WSH LAD(MO) COL(SA)
Beau Brieske, DET @MIN(MO) CLE(SA)
Chad Kuhl, COL @PIT(MO) @WSH(SA)
Zach Davies, ARI KC(MO) LAD(SU)
Vladimir Gutierrez, CIN CHC(MO) SF(SA)
Jordan Lyles, BAL @NYY(MO) @BOS(SU)

Notes

  • You know the drill. Avoid this lot.
  • Jordan Lyles has an almost-comically rough go of it this week. Who gets starts against the Yankees AND the Red Sox in a single week? Should be illegal to do that to a guy.

What’s the plan for the Yankees rotation? I notice Jordan Montgomery is scheduled to pitch Tuesday, but then it looks like the Yankees have a bullpen day on Wednesday and thus Montgomery doesn’t pitch again til next Monday?

Anderson vs Wash and AZ is a barman? I would take him over any pircher after Cobb with those marchups. Also, Eduardo Rodriguez just hit the IL.

Agreed I don’t like this list at all, Freeland also a decent play at Pittsburgh and at Washington.
