Welcome to the countdown of the top 100 hitters for the 2024 fantasy season.  This season we will be bringing you the top 100 hitters every other week during the regular season.  There is a clear shift taking place in the hitter draft dynamic and the name of that game is speed.  While some of the most talented hitters may be guys like Juan Soto or Matt Olson, the need for speed at the top draft has pushed down that pure hitting talent.  There should be no question at the top of the draft where the only player in the league that can go 40/70 has to be taken.  However, as the rest of the first round unwinds there is a plethora of young talent with what feels like limitless upside.  Take a risk on a pitcher or power-only slugger and the sledding will be tough the rest of the draft.  Good luck to all fantasy managers during this draft season and without further ado, let the debate begin as we work through the beginning of the top 100 hitters for the 2024 fantasy baseball season.

What is up party people? What if I told you that Cubs hitters are lighting it up right now? Yeah not the team I was expecting to give us a gaggle of fantasy bats but here we are. Fantasy points can come from anywhere so enjoy the ride and with whatever magic they’re cooking maybe look into grabbing any and all Cubs hitters who are still available.

What is up party people? It is once again that beautiful time of year… Draft Season! It’s an exciting time and every team has a chance to win it all. If you’re new to points leagues, welcome, we’ll start with some general tips and tricks. If you’ve read my posts before this will generally be a refresher.

The best piece of advice I can give is to know your specific league’s scoring settings. That is more relevant with the recent scoring changes a certain platform (cough ESPN cough) has made ahead of this season. Under their new standard scoring format pitcher value will be way different than in the past. Wins, Saves, and Loses will no longer impact your teams quite as much. This shifts the balance of power even more in favor of the top bats. If your league penalizes for Ks that changes things as well. The long and the short of it is to understand how points are scored and who gains a boost or a downgrade in your format.

Baseball is in good hands. Look no further than Grey’s top 10 for 2021 fantasy baseball, where you can witness the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto and Mookie Betts ranked ahead of the greatest player of our time, Randy Arozarena. Just kidding, I really do mean Mike Trout. Venture further into the top 20 and you’ll find Christian Yelich (No. 11), Bo Bichette (No. 12), Nolan Arenado (No. 16) and Luis Robert (No. 20). Side note: what a steal Yelich is going to be in 2021, amiright? But the point I’m trying to get to (and I really am trying), is that right now in baseball we have a beautiful mixture of established veterans performing at high levels (dare I say their prime?) at the forefront of the game and a deep group of emerging young players quickly breaking through into the top 20 talents in all of baseball. The sport, as a whole, is in tremendous hands and the picture only improves when one looks to the plethora of talent trickling down the prospect pipeline. Wander Franco, Jarred Kelenic, Adley Rutschman, Julio Rodriguez and Royce Lewis are all pounding on the door, just to mention a few names, and I haven’t even broached the subjecting of pitching talent in baseball today. Long story short: it’s a good time to be a baseball fan, but still a bad time to be short, or tell long stories.

Of the five prospects named above, all could potentially debut in the Majors in 2021. I’m excited about them all. But as I began writing this piece, I realized that despite their varying long-term outlooks, there’s one positional prospect I’m more excited about owning in re-draft leagues this year than any of them — and their name might surprise you.
