Two months have now passed and we’re through the 8th week of the fantasy season.  The calendar turning to June also brings the anticipated promotions of several youngsters as the Super Two cutoff tends to be right around this time of year.  Trea Turner is my favorite stash at the moment, but their are several others to ponder over and pin our fantasy hope and dreams to.  Jonathan Villar is doing his best to fend off Orlando Arcia in Milwaukee.  Maybe you’re in need of some power and happen to be short a corner man at the moment.  You might take a look at stashing AJ Reed.  There is plenty of pitching to be stashed as well Lucas Giolito and Jameson Taillon are the most likely two power arms to make an impact in the immediate future.  I had high hopes for Julio Urias coming in and being an impact bullpen arm, which for RCL purposes I preferred more than him being a starter.  Instead I got one start, a shellacking and a return trip to AAA.  Fun times.  These guys all carry risk and balancing that while weighing the impact of losing a roster spot for an unknown amount of time is tricky business in the RCLs.  Those three bench spots in our leagues are very valuable commodities.  They can be used for rostering extra RPs to tack on extra Ks and ratio help, or they can be used to platoon a SAGNOF base stealer such as, Rajai Davis with a power bat such as Trayce Thompson.  Decisions, decisions, and the answers can be different for every team.  I don’t have the answers, but I do have some numbers.  Come on down and take a look at the week that was, week 8:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts & other industry names to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  Click the heading above to check out the ‘Perts League home page and follow along.

There wasn’t a whole lot of action in the ‘Perts league this week.  Grey continued his tortoise like climb to the top of the standings, moving from 6th to 5th after gaining 4.5 points.  Not to be outdone, Prospector Ralph took over the 2nd place position by gaining 3 points while Team McLeod lost 2.5 points.  The biggest point gainer for the week was Triple-D.  Yahoo!’s Dalton Del Don picked up 7.5 points and also gained the most places in the standings jumping from 8th to 6th.  The biggest loser this was, fittingly, Tehol.  Tehol lost 7.5 points this week to fall 10 points behind JayWrong, further into last place.  Interestingly, Tehol is still leading the league in HRs.

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

5/29/2016 Grey haired sack o balls Frankfurt Amazinz traded Matt Harvey to Vindictive Ross for A.J. Ramos

It was a relatively quiet week in the RCL trade market.  Just your typically number one overall pick being traded for a struggling starter and Starling Marte.  For Schandler’s List’s sake, I hope Archer turns it around soon.  Speaking of which, how fuming is Frankfurt Amazinz today?  After being giddy to have someone take Matt Harvey off their hands, and get a closer no less, the very first start for Vindictive Ross is 7 shutout innings.  How rude Matt.

Two pretty massive trades went down this week, one of which involved myself and VinWins.  This is the second time (in separate leagues) that Vin and I have found trade partners in one another.  This one was a team I took over post draft for a dead owner and have since been fiddling with.  I’ve made, a couple trades here I wouldn’t have made under normal circumstances and have collected a majority of the Rockies starting unit in the process.  Grey has often joked about drafting a team of all Rockie hitters and Padre starters, well, I’m working on the Rockies part.  I’ll let you know how this works out come the next Rockie road trip.  What do you all think of these big deals?

Summary: What more can we say about frequent commenter, Cram Your Catcher Questions Up Your Cramhole, better known to his friends, Malicious Phenom and Gareth as Cram It.  Last year’s overall champ made a big charge towards the top of DFSers Anonymous this week.  Currently, frequent commenter MauledByPandas is sitting in the catbird seat in that league and as of last week was 4th in the overall standings.  Could Cram It go back to back?  We’d never hear the end of it if he does, but if he somehow manages to nudge Pandas from his perch, the LCI is strong enough in DFSers Anonymous that it could happen.  This was an easy choice for Team Of The Week this week, those offensive numbers are just drool worthy.  The pitching wasn’t great as far as ratios for concerned, but somehow the lucky son of a gun turned that into 6 wins.  When you’re on a roll, you’re on a roll.  Nice work Cram!
