Week seven and we are coming up on the third-way mark (28.9% to be exact).  Vin went ahead and collected all the current category leaders for this season and I thought I’d compare those to the all-time records and see if anyone is on pace for a record-breaking season.  Let’s take a look at my handy chart:

Ooo, we could be looking at a new season long steals record with these new rules and I love it.  I was hoping this would be the case.

Vin is having some nice seasons so far and has an outside shot at the RBI record.  Go, Vin, go!

Those saves and strikeout records aren’t going to be touched.  Those were set back in the days before an IP limit, it would take a team of nine Spencer Striders to take the strikeout record down.

Save the World is having an interesting pitching season with that low ERA but it’s not accompanied by the leading WHIP like RBV had last year.  I am actually very impressed with this low ERA given all the extra offense this year and the fact I am having my career-worst season in ratios across my many teams.  I blame Nick Lodolo.

I hope you enjoyed this little exercise and for those with eyes on a record, good luck chasing RCL glory!

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Son has used 208 moves this season and has 292 remaining.  We are 30% through the season, so he’s a little over the pace for finishing the season with any moves remaining.  However, he’s putting the moves to good use so far as he just took over the lead in the Perts League.  He added seven points this week to leap over both Grey and Coolwhip and claim the top spot.  Son led the league in Steals, Strikeouts, and Saves on his way to the top.  Maybe he should chill on the rosterbation for a week or so and see if the swelling goes down.

It was tight at the top and Grey lost 2.5 points this week, causing him to tumble to third.  The biggest loser this week though was MarmosDad, who lost seven points and fell three places down to tenth.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

It’s going to take a big ask to topple Ryan beck from the top of the Razzslam overall standings.  Yatta remained in second, but that gap is pretty small as Stephen Eng pushed their way into third overall as Matthew Davis fell all the way to seventh.  We still have nearly two months until the playoffs get started but the top ten seems to be settling in.

Congrats to former Razzball DFS writer, Mark Kieffer on the big week.  Mark led the Razzslam in total points (755) and spots gained (91) as he jumped up to 102 in the standings.

TOP 10

We are still working on official Master Standings, but VinWins has done his own calculations for the time being, here is our current top ten:

RK TEAM LEAGUE VIN PTS
1 Merry Band of Schmohawks COUGS R US 108.13
2 Starfish & Coffee RCL 33 108.09
3 Wake-N-Rake RCL 12 105.5
4 LauraHolt NOTLZ 103.04
5 mdubs RCL 8 101.13
6 TheSpaceman RCL 31 100.16
7 Swing Away RCL 3 100.1
8 Bayou Bombers RCL 26 99.96
9 Vin 34 RCL 34 99.04
10 JamScandal NOTLZ 97.84

I wondered how close my RCL 33 team would be to the top after a big week and I’m excited to once again have a team in the hunt for the overall title.  Silver lining considering most of my teams are floundering in 6th place and not able to gain any ground.  Big congrats to the Schmohawks on their early success in a very cutthroat league (where I’m in eighth).  Laura and Vin also both make the top ten.  Congrats!

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

DATE LEAGUE DETAILS
5/16/2023 RCL 32
Vin 32 traded Jarren Duran & Josh Lowe to Harper? Barely know her! for Aaron Nola
5/17/2023 RCL 36
Rube Foster’s Barnstormers traded Christopher Morel to Dunphy’s Joint Venture for Sean Murphy
5/18/2023 RCL 29
Longballers traded Ketel Marte to CaptainObvious for Andrew Vaughn
5/18/2023 RCL 9
smehlis traded Zack Wheeler to wanderlust for Jarred Kelenic
5/18/2023 RCL 30
CookingTheBooks traded Whit Merrifield to Old_Metman for Carlos Estevez
5/20/2023 COUGS R US
AllRice traded Craig Kimbrel & Eury Perez for NY Sturgeon King for Kenley Jansen

Six deals went down this week.  I love Vin dealing for Nola here.  Lowe is incredibly hot, but that part-time status feels like it’s going to really sap his value once he comes back to earth, and he will come back to earth.

I would absolutely trade a catcher for Morel right now.  There are so many good catchers on waivers in my leagues, Murphy is an easy replace with Langeliers.

Wanderlust continues to make nice moves.  I like Kelenic for Wheeler and I rarely like trading for a pitcher.

I think NY Sturgeon King may have gotten away with one here.

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 72 – Vin 25 (RCL 25)

HR –25 – cubeee (RCL 30)

RBIs – 70 – STL Squt Cobblers (ECFBL)

SB – 16 – eggpez (RCL 19)

AVG – .334 – cubeee (RCL 30)

K – 95 – kthom1981 (RCL 8)

W – 9 – 3 Teams Tied

SV –  10 – Exit Velo City (RCL 1)

ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.31 – AllRice (COUGS R US) (in 41.1 IP)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.881 – TheFantasyGOAT (RCL 15) (in 59 IP)

ABs – 345 – VinFrequent (FCL)

Hits – 109 – Vin34 (RCL34)

Huge week for cubeee, leading the RCLs in HRs and batting average, that’s quite the hitting week!  The 25 HRs are also good for a new weekly record.  Vin also set a new weekly record with 72 Runs.  I wonder if Exit Velo City is a Rotowear fan?  That’s one of my favorite shirts!

Some other weekly tidbits courtesy of Vin:

20 teams hit over .300 (9 last week)

4 teams had an ERA under 2.00 (48 last week); 73 teams had a 5+ ERA

15 teams had 0 Wins; 66 teams had 0 Saves.

4 teams stole 0 bases. 76 had 10+. The average was 6.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Wake-N-Rake

League: RCL 12

Stats:   AVG: .284, R: 58, HR: 18, RBI: 56, SB: 11

IP: 67.1, ERA: 3.74, WHIP: 1.173, K: 83, W: 5, SV: 7

Summary: A favorite team name of mine this year, W-N-R woke and…roke.  The ERA wasn’t the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen, but the WHIP was right where I’d like to see it and this is a very well-rounded week.  Corbin Carroll and Josh Lowe provided the offense (2 HRs and 3 SBs apiece) and Ohtani and Giolito provided the pitching to open up a 23.5 point lead for W-N-R in RCL 12.  That’s an impressive lead.  Nice week and nice team name!
