There you have it, we’ve passed the halfway point of our Razzball Commenter League season. The next milestone is the trading deadline, which takes place this coming Sunday night at midnight EST. The MLB trade deadline has been pretty awesome so far with major names all going to the Padres. Between that and teams changing closers like underwear, there should be plenty to get you in the trading mood for the RCLs. Normally, this is the time of season where you can understand some overpaying for players, but with the shortened season and so much still up in the air, I’m not sure things will be quite as crazy as previous seasons. Still, take a look at the overall standings in your league and see where teams are bunched together. If there’s an opportunity to leap over multiple teams by taking a category by storm, make your move now. If you’re in second place right now, make that move for first, play to win, go out and make it happen. Release your inner AJ Preller! We managed seven trades this past week, which we’ll break down below, let’s see if we can top that this week.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Cram It was in the comments section last week talking trash and boy did he back it up! Aaron Judge or no Aaron Judge, Crammy was on fire this week, gaining 14.5 points to move up from third to first. Cram co-led the league in Runs, RBIs and Wins while stealing eight bags and producing a tiny 2.48 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 40 innings of work. It should be noted that this fantastic week also pushed Cram to 13th overall in the Master Standings. Meanwhile, he and Grey danced around The Itch, who remained in second as Grey dropped 5.5 points and fell to third.
The biggest loser in the ‘Perts league this week was Blair, who posted a 6.06 ERA and 1.612 WHIP en route to losing 8.5 points. Now, don’t you feel better about your week?
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
Ray Butler held onto the top spot for another week as Dan Richards fell to fifth leaving Derek Rhoads, Todd Zola and Greg Fishwick to each move up one spot. Brent Franey remains in sixth overall as newcomers to the top ten, Ariel Cohen, Rob Sherwood and Rick Garlinghouse make a charge. Rounding things out is Joseph Bond who holds onto the tenth position.
Frank Stampfl was the big point earner this week, picking up 691 points and moving up 32 places to 48th overall. Your’s truly was the big position gainer this week, as I managed to move up 55 places thanks to my second biggest point gain of 685 points. I know sit in the nicest position of all:
Across 18 leagues, Framber Valdez was the top FAB bid in nine of them, going for as high as $666. However, the top addition was Jake Cronenworth who is now rostered on Alan Harrison’s squad for a cool $771. Cronenworth was the top bid in three leagues.
TOP 10
For those too lazy to check the MASTER STANDINGS, I present to you, the current top 10

10 | Trussell Shuffle | RCL 2020 (#60) | 107.9 | 98 | 107 | 107.9 |
There are two Cougs sitting atop the overall standings now as Team Tokyo takes the lead from Capital Offense, who fell to fourth overall. FFB and CT Old School are both hot on Tokyo’s heels as they both leap over Capital Offense and Matty’s Super Twos.
Gunk Squad has a nice week, jumping from 24th to sixth overall as does Squat Cobblers Tres who moves from 12th overall to seventh.
Cleats Boyardee continues their fall from the top position as they fall two more places this week to eighth overall.
Summer thunder 2 gains one spot this week, moving to ninth overall and rounding out the top ten is some guy…never heard of ‘em.

It was a busy trading week as we had seven deals go down. I got in on the action twice moving Correa for Ohtani and Dansby for Bell in two separate leagues. Mostly, I had too many SS and nowhere to play them all.
Great minds think alike as FFB also moved Correa and got back Vlad Jr. Nice grab!
Trevor Rosenthal got moved twice, I do wonder if he’ll hold onto the closing gig in San Diego. The Padres are clearly going for it, so I don’t see them giving him much leash if he slips. Pomeranz was doing just fine before his DL stint, so we shall see.
WEEKLY LEADERS
The best of the best from the week that was.
R – 62 – SWALLOW MY NUT (RCL 2020 (#77)) & The Iron Horse (RCL 2020 (#29))
HR –25 – Team bub1992 (RCL 2020 (#38))
RBIs – 68 – SWALLOW MY NUT (RCL 2020 (#77))
SB – 12 – MattTruss (PERTS LEAGUE) & Team nobloodysocks (RCL 2020 (#41))
AVG – .361 – Odio Retirado (Original Recipe)
K – 101 – Fantasy Baseball = Happy Place (RCL 2020 (#39))
W – 10 – Team Truss (RCL 2020 (#76))
SV – 9 – Team FrankGrimes1 (RCL 2020 (#44)), EdgE II (RCL 2020 (#2)), Team DFresh (RCL 2020 (#1)) & Backdoor Knucklers (Cougs R Us)
ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.17 – A Man Named Brady (RCL 2020 (#64)) (in 46.2 IP)
WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.654 – Team farley101 (RCL 2020 (#25)) (in 44.1 IP)
Well, it was quite the week for pitching. Maybe everyone heard my warning that they should be at about 260 IP by the midpoint of last week and streamed accordingly, but we set new records in strikeouts, wins, saves, ERA and WHIP. I know I focused on pitching a lot this week, hence my 10 win team (finally, some win luck!)
Also of note, Odio Retirado, aka J-FOH nabbed a new record for batting average in a week.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: Fantasy Baseball = Happy Place
League: RCL 2020 (#39)
Stats: AVG: .292, R: 44, HR: 16, RBI: 50, SB: 2
IP: 98.2, ERA: 3.74, WHIP: 1.307, K: 101, W: 6, SV: 4
Summary: FB=HP just barely nudged me out for the top spot this week, by just a couple points. That’s perfectly fine, because talking about myself in this section always makes me feel funny. This is the type of TOW team I love though, nothing too crazy, just consistent in all categories. Yes, the innings are high, boosting those K’s, but as long we’ve got more than a strikeout per inning pitched, I’m happy. FB=HP got a big week from Randal Grichuk of all people as well as steady weeks from Devers, Xander and Eloy. FB=HP also streamed Adam Wainwright for both starts this week, icing on the solid pitching week cake right there. Nice work!
