I hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend celebrating you, the worker.  The faithful cog in the machine of capitalism all get one day to honor them and all they do to keep the US of A chugging along.  Mostly, it’s a weekend for fantasy football drafts, amiright?  I know my home league uses this weekend every year to do the damn thing.  Fantasy football is fine, but it’s checkers vs chess, pickleball vs tennis, thumb wrestling vs bare knuckle boxing.  As the masses move their focus to the shiny new toy, the real baseball sickos are here to fight for every last roto point these final four weeks.  Four weeks to make that final push, collect all those final innings, and take home that virtual trophy.  Let’s do this thing!

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

We have QUITE the battle shaping up here in the final month of the season!  Cram It had the best showing of the week, picking up 8.5 points thanks to a league-leading 75.2 IP, 73 Ks, 7 Wins, a 2.26 ERA, and 1.057 WHIP.  Some unreal ratios for all those innings.  The big gain, along with Son losing two points means we now have three teams within one point of each other for the lead.  Grey gained a point to tie Son and this is going to be a photo finish!

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Kevork has taken the lead when it matters most as our final ten teams battle it out for RazzSlam glory!

TOP 10

Still no Master Standings as the RCL Bots turn their eyes to football as well.  At the very least, we’ll have some Master Standings to finish the season.

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 58 – Mikelecuyer (RCL 4)

HR –25 – TrunkPassenger (RCL 13)

RBIs – 68 – THE Bronx Zoo (RCL 31)

SB – 17 – Vin13 (RCL 13), Horse (RCL 21), & DFresh (RCL 3)

AVG – .337 – John Voyager (RCL 9)

K – 90 – MEGA MANGO (Crab Army)

W – 10 – MEGA MANGO (Crab Army)

SV –  10 – Man or Stroman? (RCL 25), mrschaef (RCL 30), & Bayou Swampers (RCL 28)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.76 – Metal Gods (RCL 12) (in 48.2 IP)

MEGA MANGO (AKA: Geoff) had a heck of a pitching week as he tries to chase down the Coconuts and me in Crab Army.  My big lead has dwindled and these two are relentless.  When will CES get scorching hot and hit 20 homers?  MEGA MANGO tied the weekly wins record, bringing us to a now, six way tie.  Eesh, will someone win 11 already?

Some more stats from the week courtesy of VinWins:

51 teams hit over .300; 1 team hit under .200

13 teams had an ERA under 2.00; 15 teams had a 7+ ERA

19 teams had 0 Wins; 75 teams had 0 Saves.

1 team failed to steal a base; 12 had 15+. The average was 7.

We also had one more team reach the 1400 IP mark, Mitch Staniger of DFSers Anonymous.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: cubbiehead

League: RCL 8

Stats:   AVG: .274, R: 45, HR: 22, RBI: 55, SB: 12

IP: 84.1, ERA: 2.13, WHIP: 0.842, K: 73, W: 8, SV: 2

Summary: Cubbiehead had themselves quite an impressive week.  Trea Turner was a major factor in that with 6 dingers and 14 RBIs as he tries to make up for lost time on that first round pick ADP.  The real story here though is the pitching.  That many IP and a sub 1 WHIP is insanely impressive.  Vin broke it down, if you’re interested:

2.77 / 1.000 Tarik Skubal 13 IP

3.75 / 0.667 Alex Cobb 12 IP

0.00 / 0.667 Seth Lugo 6 IP

3.00 / 0.667 Griffin Canning 6 IP

4.50 / 1.167 Bryce Miller 6 IP

0.00 / 0.500 Max Scherzer 6 IP

0.00 / 0.667 Bryan Woo 6 IP

1.50 / 0.667 Braxton Garrett 6 IP

0.00 / 1.000 JP Sears 6 IP

0.00 / 0.643 Tanner Scott 4.2 IP

6.75 / 1.750 Dane Dunning 4 IP

0.00 / 0.333 Jason Foley 3 IP

6.00 / 2.000 Josh Hader 3 IP

0.00 / 0.000 Danny Coulombe 1.2 IP

0.00 / 1.000 Gavin Williams 1 IP

The big week pushed cubbiehead from fifth to fourth with an 11 point gain.  Heck of a time to make a big push.  Nice work, cubbiehead!
