With no more trades to be had, these updates get a little bit shorter, especially on weeks with no Master Standings updates.  I’m hoping to have updates on those for the update on September 8th and again on the 22nd as we watch the final weeks to see who takes down the ultimate RCL glory.  I maintain that winning a Razzball Commenter League overall Championship is one of the hardest accomplishments in fantasy baseball.  The league setup, the number of opponents, the formulas to adjust for league competitiveness – it just all adds up to an accomplishment you can tell your grandkids about someday, or at least your family pet.  Anyway, we still have lots of stats to share on the off weeks as well as updates on the Razzslam, another tough overall championship to take down.  All that and the rest of the week that was, week 21.

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Mike has opened up a ten-point lead in Perts as the rest of us are fighting for the scraps of second place.  The second place battle has gotten heated though!  A heated rivalry, if you will.  Only 8.5 points separate second and eighth, even Grey is making a small push!  Grey was the biggest gainer this week, picking up 6.5 points and moving up two places to ninth.  Three teams had sub-one WHIPs in Perts this week, led by Grey and his 0.745.  I put in some major innings this week to catch up to the pack, logging 103 and coming in with a nice 2.53 ERA and 0.91 WHIP.  That was the biggest reason for my 5.5 point gain that pushed me into a tie with Itch for second.  Coolwhip suffered a near 6 ERA and 1.5 WHIP, dropping 12 points and losing two spots in the standings, ending in 11th.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Your current top 18 teams who would be moving on to the final:

We still have one more week to go, but these two teams would make the jump from the Consolation to Championship bracket as of right now:

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 59 – password is taco (RCL 7)

HR –22 – SandwichPick (RCL 16)

RBIs – 57 – Isotopes II (RCL 34)

SB – 14 – Homers Not Nukes (RCL 1)

AVG – .330 – Taylors Team (RCL 24)

K – 103 – Vin Eleven (RCL 11)

W – 9 – Vin Eleven (RCL 11)

SV –  11 – AutoMATTic (RCL 35) & Hal Was Adopted (RCL 26)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.721 – Isotopes II (RCL 34) (in 51.1 IP)

Close, but not quite there on the weekly records, still some impressive numbers.  Great week for SandwichPick, who not only led the RCLs in dingers, but wrote THIS AWESOME ARTICLE on Saturday about reverse platoon splits and George Kirby.

Vin went wild with IP this week too, it seems!

Taylors team led in average, not to be confused with Taylor Farms, who usually lead in runs.

RCL 26 had two teams on the leaderboard this week, including one outing Hal.  Not cool, man.

Isotopes landed on both the offensive and pitching leaderboards, usually a tell for TOW, but not so this week.

And some more stats from the week from our good friend, VinWins:

Top K/9 for the week:

11.74  Laura (The Laura Holt Challenge)

11.71 Laura Holt (NIGHT OF THE LIVING ZOMBINOS)

41 teams had an ERA under 2; just 8 teams were over 6 (including Vin 27 Outs).

28 teams hit under .200; 5 teams were over .300.

76 teams had 0 saves.

6 weeks left.  76.9% of the schedule has been completed. 769 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 1077 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.

Drop Zone Players (RCL #8) has 207 decisions in 993 IP (78 Wins, 129 Saves)

IP/WIN

11.5 The The (RCL #22) 98 W in 1130 IP

MOVES:

21 teams have made 0 moves. The average # of moves is 99.

385 moves would be a 500-move pace for the season.

The most active teams:

412 Dunphys Joint Venture (The Laura Holt Challenge)

402 TrixMcGee (RCL #26)

401 password is taco  (RCL #34)

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Squat Cobblers

League: RCL 21

Stats:   AVG: .259, R: 49, HR: 21, RBI: 54, SB: 7

IP: 77.2, ERA: 2.78, WHIP: 1.03, K: 73, W: 5, SV: 6

Summary: The second time an RCL 21 member has taken TOW honors (I was the other, back in week 5), Squat Cobblers had a great Sunday hitting .340 with seven dingers, and had Noah Cameron’s shutout, to move past another of my teams and one of Vin’s.  Miguel Vargas led the offense, hitting .318 with four home runs. Zack Gelof and Lawrence Butler also hit over .300 with three homers each. Jordan Walker had a long ball and two steals, while Bobby Witt Jr. and Brady House had one of each. Seiya Suzuki and

Jake Burger both hit two out of the park and drove in seven. Nico Hoerner chipped in a couple stolen bases. Sonny Gray won one of his two starts, striking out eleven in 13.0 innings and only giving up two runs. Noah Cameron finished the week with the aforementioned complete game shutout. He struck out eight and allowed just two base runners. Logan Gilbert, Tyler Mahle, and Kyle Leahy all earned victories, combining for twenty punch outs in 17 innings. Jacob Webb and Emilio Pagan picked up two saves apiece, while Mason Montgomery and Brandyn Garcia were credited with one each.  The big week didn’t equate to a lot of standings movement, gaining the Cobblers just 1.5 points and keeping them in sixth place.  RCL 21 has been a tough league, it’s hard to make up ground there.  It’s going to be a very close finish.

Always enjoy your column and insights.

2. Would you start or sit Mahle at Minn?

I looked just up the average number of innings that SPs are doing. It’s 5.09 innings/start.

2. Would you pick up Aaron Nola off waivers. His next two starts are home vs Miami and at Seattle?

3. If yes to question 2, would you drop Grant Holmes or keep holmes and look elsewhere?

Thanks for all your help!!!!!
