Five weeks remaining and it’s time to do a little check-in on our category leaders and see if anyone has a shot at taking down an all-time RCL record.  For reference, here are the overall records from years past:

The stolen base record has the best chance to fall.  It turns out, all the rule changes have really had an impact on our fantasy game and that is incredibly evident here.  That stolen base record has stood for eight seasons, but it doesn’t appear it will last for nine.

Strikeouts will ultimately come down to K/9.  Teams who are leading now have already hit their IP limits, but others will pass them as the season moves on.  Same goes for Wins.  Fly147 will likely lose the top spot today as they are only 12 Ks ahead of Deb, The Toast of Iceland (RCL 31).  Josh Hamilton’s Fake Stache (RCL 35) has the second highest K/9 in the RCLs right now and with 1156.1 IP has 1403 strikeouts.  Adding about 300 strikeouts to that total and assuming they hit 1400 IP, they’d hit 1703 Ks and still be 100 short of the all-time record.  Still a VERY impressive total.

Speaking of IP and pace: 807 IP would be on pace to min. 1000 and 1129 IP would be on pace to max 1400.  We had three more teams reach the 1400 precipice this week.  Jeremy Gibbs (COUGS R US) finished off their 1400 IP with 23 shutout innings and the above-mentioned leading Win total of 104.   GB’S BUMS (RCL 35) finished with the most IP so far – 1422.  420 teams have reached the 1000 IP minimum. (79.5%), 22 teams are on pace to fall below 1000 IP, and 213 teams are on pace to hit 1400 IP.

Congrats to all our current stat leaders and good luck finishing strong and chasing RCL immortality.

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

The only change in the standings this week was Laura jumping over me as we continued to rearrange the deck chairs on our sinking ship of a season.  The bigger news was Grey gaining 3.5 points (second most in the league this week [Lineup Builder had 9.5]) and hitting 90 points, just three behind Son.  An epic showdown awaits!  MarmosDad and Coolwhip tied for the worst of the Perts this week, each losing 6 points.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Where have all the Razzballers gone?  They have all fallen out of the top 18 with (I think) one week remaining to get in the top slot and move onto the next round.

TOP 10

The plan is to have official Master Standings by the end of the month.  Stay tuned.

The best of the best from the week that was.

HR –28 – Atavistic Abalones (RCL 18)

RBIs – 73 – Atavistic Abalones (RCL 18)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.739 – New Team 4 (Original Recipe) (in 46 IP)

We set a new weekly high mark in HRs and strikeouts this week!  Grey falls off the strikeout leaderboard thanks to foulballs’s massive total.  Atavistic Abalones came one RBI short of tying the RBI record as well.  Quite an offensive week!

47 teams hit over .300; 2 teams hit under .200

15 teams had an ERA under 2.00; 40 teams had a 6+ ERA

17 teams had 0 Wins; 81 teams had 0 Saves.

No teams failed to steal a base; 10 had 15+. The average was 7.

Thanks, as always to VinWins for all the weekly nuggets and behind-the-scenes work!

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: dwightford

League: RCL 6

Stats:   AVG: .315, R: 69, HR: 16, RBI: 47, SB: 15

IP: 49.1, ERA: 2.92, WHIP: 1.034, K: 75, W: 6, SV: 6

Summary: Dwightford put up one of the better RCL weeks I’ve ever seen this week.  Just economical as all heck.  They led the RCLs in runs, had two plus slam and legs per day, had a 13.75 K/9, and a nice, tidy six wins with six saves to go with sterling ratios.  Unreal.  Bryce Harper, Corbin Carroll, and Randy Arozarena led the offense while Zac Gallen and Louis Castillo pitched great weeks.  Dwight’s studs carried him this week.  The big week didn’t do much to put a dent in Stolen Vortex’s big lead in RCL 6, but it went a long way to securing second place for dwightford.  Nice work!
