It’s only week two!? How is that possible when we’ve lost 78% of all MLB pitchers already? Sounds fake, but here we are. With all the pitching injuries it has led to much speculation as to why we are suddenly losing everyone to arm injuries. Everyone from Cy Young winners to Twitter doctors who are not actually doctors but definitely know things and will absolutely tell you all about how much they know about things because…I don’t know…no one has ever told them they sound like a dolt I guess? It does seem to be a lot and there have been many rule changes, from pitch clocks to removing everything but resin from a pitcher’s arsenal, to high schoolers tossing upper 90s heat trying to get noticed by scouts. Like everything, there is nuance here, but all I do know is it 100% sucks to see the best pitcher in baseball go down, followed by Shane Bieber who was lighting things up through two starts, preceded by young and electric, Eury Perez (who I was worried about in the preseason given his innings bump and Miami seeming to push him too hard last season) and now we sit and form a prayer octagon for Framber Valdez. Eesh. In less depressing news, here’s the rest of the week that was week 2 in the Razzball Commenter Leagues:
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Coolwhip held onto first place, but make sure to do a wellness check on my guy after the Bieber news. Whip was ALL IN on Biebs and is currently nursing several adult beverages as he copes.
It’s very much silly season in the standings. After rocking a 6.20 ERA and 2.23 WHIP in week one, I came back this week to record the league-low 1.14 ERA and 1.037 WHIP in 71.1 IP. That was good for a 26 point swing and a seven spot gain in the standings, both league bests this week.
Going the other way were Kirksey and Laura who lost 16.5 and 15.5 points, respectively and each dropped six places in the standings.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
Blair lost the top spot, but held onto the top four as he holds things down for the Razzball crew. Moe Deportes and Vlad Sedler are breathing down his neck though! Moe had the most points this week, racking up 655 and Benjamin Heck moved up the most spots this week, gaining 222 places.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: RAZZSLAM FAAB #1 IS TONIGHT, 10 PM ET! DON’T FORGET TO SPEND THAT CASH!
TOP 10
We’re going to do something a little different this year and only run standings once a month at the beginning of each month. FanTrax made some changes to their standings pages and it’s made it more difficult for Rudy’s bots to pull the data. VinWins is going to be helping pull the data for us and at the start of each month we’ll have the MASTER STANDINGS.
TRADES
All the trades that have gone down in the past week. Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

Only two trades this week and in each case I think I would prefer the pitchers, but Spencer Steer has been en fuego and I love that CI/OF combo too. I could be convinced either way.

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: password is taco
League: RCL 9
Stats: AVG: .288, R: 49, HR: 18, RBI: 45, SB: 7
IP: 71.2, ERA: 2.39, WHIP: 1.033, K: 78, W: 5, SV: 2
Summary: While taco’s RCL 5 team lit up the pitching weekly leaderboard, their RCL 9 team was very well-rounded. Balance is what we’re after for Team of the Week, and this is a very well-balanced taco. Part of a complete dinner. Bryce Harper went slump-buster, crushing three dingers and Jarren Duran went 13/27, hit a homer, and stole four bags. Taco got strong starts from Michael King, Hunter Greene, Zack Wheeler, Zach Eflin, Tanner Houck, and Reynaldo Lopez to seal TOW honors. Heck of a week across multiple teams, nice work taco!
