While the MLB trade deadline is busy causing havoc with bullpens and starting rotation (good luck setting a rotation this week in weekly leagues) it’s a good time to remind everyone that the Razzball Commenter League trade deadline is also looming. August 9th at midnight ET will be your last chance to make improvements to your team from anywhere but the waiver wire. We had eight trades this week, which included some big names and big bullpen arms as teams who have a healthy saves lead look to move from a position of strength and sure up some weak spots. I am one of these teams selling off closers, but that trade won’t process until next week’s update. Even a team in first place can look to make improvements, don’t get complacent. Again, I stress, you don’t need to win a category by 100, you only need to win by one. Also, as a note, take notice of your IP pace. We are about 65% through the season (1587/2430 games completed) which means 653 IP would be on pace to min. 1000 (which you should absolutely not miss) and 914 IP would be on pace to max 1400, which you should try to maximize if possible and warranted. Here’s all the news and notes from the week that was, week 17:
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Son stretched his league lead even more this week, tacking on 4.5 points and getting a major bump in the overall RCL standings as well, as we’ll see later. Son led the league in ERA this week, in a week where the league average ERA was around 4.00, he went sub-3. GOing the other way this week was MarmosDad, who lost 9 points and fell two spots down to eighth. MarmosDad’s place in the standings seems to fluctuate 10 points every other week, talk about a rollercoaster.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
Son held onto his top 20 spot in the Razzslam standings as well, with he and Rudy holding things down. Kirksey and Butters both fell out of the top 20, but are still in good enough standing to advance to the next round for now.

A BIG shake-up in the top ten this week as Bayou Bombers, Stolen Vortex, and I all fall in the standings and Fantasy Icon and Son jump in to take the spots with Wake-N-Rake holding steady. Fantasy Icon went on a tear this week, nearly winning TOW honors with this line: (50 R/ 11 HR/ 45 RBI/ 10 SB/ .294 <> 75.33 IP/ 9 W/ 79 K/ 4 S/ 2.39/ 1.221) For now, they will have to settle for being the top team in all the RCLs.

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: MEGA MANGO
League: Crab Army
Stats: AVG: .313, R: 48, HR: 16, RBI: 45, SB: 10
IP: 53.2, ERA: 2.68, WHIP: 1.025, K: 55, W: 7, SV: 9
Summary: Yes, every team in Crab Army is named after a fruit…what’s it to ya? I’m doing my darndest to run away with this league, but this squad, captained by Razzball’s own and now BA superstar, Geoff Pontes is not letting me get away easy. I’ve received regular threats in my DMs that he’s coming for my league lead. This kind of vigor is what makes leagues great and what makes a crab, a crab. Never quit, always fight for every league point. Geoff cut way back on his daily leagues in favor of weekly industry leagues but he’s attacking this daily league with a renewed excitement this year and I’m here for it. Good luck finishing this one out, Geoff, may the best crab win.
