Here at Razzball, we live that SAGNOF life. Nowhere is the SAGNOF mentality more prominently displayed than in the Razzball Commenter Leagues. Sure, those top closer with high K/9 go early in these drafts, but the real SAGNOF story lives on the waiver wire with nearly every closer with even a passing shot at a save is rostered on a given day. On the stolen base side, it takes an awful lot of poor play (looking at you, Jorge Mateo) for an RCLer to drop a speedster to the wire and the shiny new SAGNOF toys are always scooped up quickly around these parts. With that, VinWins presented me with the SAGNOF leaderboard this morning, and I thought everyone should check it out. You can view the leaderboard HERE.
There, you can see that our top stealing team, EarlThePearl #17, is on pace to shatter the previous RCL high score of 270 steals. We’ll keep an eye on Earl as the season gets closer to the end, but working with a 40 steal cushion seems like a sure thing to beat the record, it’s just a matter of how much.
On the Saves side of things, it’s a Mauled By Pandas team, and one of my favorite team names, Kitten Mittens leading the way with a five save cushion. The Mittens haven’t needed to scrounge on the wire as they drafted one of the best bullpens you could have asked for this draft season. Clase (Rnd 4), Bautista (Rnd 10), Duran (Rnd 15), and Diaz (Rnd 16) while also adding Robertson before the season started. Sometimes, everything just falls into place.
Good luck SAGNOF’ing out there, everyone.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Not a lot of movement in the standings this week, but Son maintained his top spot, adding two points while Cram It lost three. Son led the league in Runs, HR, and WHIP this week. I had the biggest point gain this week with five, leading the league in batting average (with a meager .267) and ERA. Coolwhip was the biggest loser this week, dropping 6.5 points despite leading the league in RBIs and strikeouts. Neither of us moved in the standings despite our point swings. Things seem to be stabilizing here.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
The Razzslam standings are the opposite of stable…they are unstable. As mentioned, we have reset with the next round so a big week means big swings. I’m expanding to the top 20 this week to show off those holding things down for the home team. Son, Rudy, Kirksey, and Butters are all looking to move onto the nest round and bring one home for Razzball. Nice work, team.
TOP 10
VinWin’s take on the Top Ten while we wait for official standings to go live.
RANK | LEAGUE | TEAM | LeaguePts | VINDEX | VPTS |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | RCL 26 | Bayou Bombers | 109.5 | 100.09 | 109.65 |
2 | RCL 6 | Stolen Vortex | 107.5 | 101.29 | 109.59 |
3 | RCL 33 | Starfish & Coffee | 109 | 99.04 | 107.44 |
4 | RCL 12 | Wake – N – Rake | 105 | 100.3 | 105.47 |
5 | RCL 17 | FANTASY ICON 5.0 | 105 | 99.74 | 104.59 |
6 | Perts League | Son | 99 | 102.61 | 102.91 |
7 | RCL 34 | Vin 34 | 101 | 100.46 | 101.7 |
8 | RCL 29 | Tuck It In | 98 | 102.26 | 101.35 |
9 | Crab Army | Kiwi King | 103 | 98.51 | 100.71 |
10 | COUGS R US | Merry Band of Schmohawks | 93 | 104.45 | 99.3 |
Bayou Bombers have taken over the top spot this week thanks to 109.5 league points. That’s a whole lotta points and enough to jump over Stolen Vortex and me. Wake-N-Rake falls to fourth this week. The Perts League LCI is going to keep Son in this thing if he can maintain around 100 league points. Unlike my leagues where I’m beating up on teams with an LCI under 100. That is my favorite part of these mass rankings though, it really shows the difference a tough league makes. Just look at the COUGS R US championship league where Schmohawks have 93 points but that near 105 LCI is keeping them in the top ten overall.

Ten trades this week as teams got busy during the break prepping for the second half. MHII moved three times this week. Too bad none of these teams were in a league where I drafted him this year, you could have had him off waivers, just days before he went absolutely bonkers.
WEEKLY LEADERS
The best of the best from the week that was.
R – 63 – Say Hey Kid (RCL 28)
HR –24 – Wake-N-Rake (RCL 12)
RBIs – 71 – stechsjj (RCL 36)
SB – 16 – razzkai (RCL 10)
AVG – .329 – coachdalmore (RCL 17)
K – 95 – troysbraves (RCL 14)
W – 8 – ShoelessJoes (RCL 17)
SV – 12 – Kitten Mittens (RCL 1)
ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.58 – SliverSurfer (RCL 17) (in 45.2 IP)
WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.791 – TrunkPassenger (RCL 13) (in 67 IP)
No new records this week, but it was a rough week of pitching, as you’ll see below. I’m not exactly sure where all that offense went, but it didn’t go to any one team in particular it seems.
Shoutout to RCL 17 for having three different teams make the weekly report.
In some other weekly news, Mega Mango had the worst ERA of the week at 8.78. VinWins had a team with a 6.71 and the Perts league had Great Knoche (6.58) and Grey (6.00). Only nine teams had an ERA under 2 and 57 had an ERA over 6. It was ugly out there, folks, hope you stayed safe.
23 teams had 0 Wins; 60 teams had 0 Saves.
4 teams failed to steal a base; 3 had 15+. The average was 6.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shoutout to the team that killed it the previous week.
Team: Bad News Bobs
League: RCL 35
Stats: AVG: .284, R: 51, HR: 21, RBI: 60, SB: 11
IP: 66.1, ERA: 3.80, WHIP: 1.266, K: 77, W: 7, SV: 1
Summary: As mentioned, it was a brutal week of pitching. When looking at the TOW numbers, pitching had to be taken with a large grain of salt. All things considered, the Bobs didn’t do too shabby and that offense output is anything but bad news. Austin Riley nearly carried the team by himself with 6 HRs and 16 RBIs. Aside from Bryan Woo’s 9.64 ERA this week, the Bobs avoided too many pitching blow-ups and it was all good enough for TOW honors. The Bobs took over first in RCL 35 back in May and haven’t looked back. Weeks like this will continue to keep everyone in the rearview. Nice work.
