As I was scrolling through the FantasyPros rankings, looking for someone to write about, I started getting despondent. There was no one to write about because the stable of great writers at Razzball seemingly touched on everyone! But, like a good little grasshopper, I kept mining for the Bitcoin. Then, I found him: Manuel Margot. Sexy? Definitely not, but neither was Biggie, and he got us to bob our heads up and down and wave our arms in the air from side to side. Speaking of which, I couldn’t get this song out of my head while I was thinking about Margot.  Yes, I was hypnotized.

You want the fantasy hoops? Even if it sounds like a STD? SON’s got you covered over Razzball Basketball!

Margot is 23 years old, 5′ 11,” and 180 pounds. The Boston Red Sox signed him as an international free agent back in 2011. He played one year of Rookie ball, four years of Class A, one year of Double-A, and one year of Triple-A. He had a high of 39 stolen bases and 10 home runs. Wasn’t much of a walker, but didn’t strike out often either. In 2016, he made his MLB debut and played 10 games. He then made the Opening Day roster in 2017 and played in 126 games.

As a lead-off hitter, I’d like to see the walks go up a bit, but I think that number goes up as he gets more experience. I like the low strikeout rate, though, which was good for 78th in all of baseball last year. The swinging strike rate was only 8.6%, contact rate in the strike zone was 89.2%, and he swung at only 29% of pitches outside the zone, which was the 62nd-best mark last year. What I really liked to see, though, was his batted ball profile. He went oppo 31.9% of the time and popped it up in the infield only 9.4%, good for 83rd in baseball.

Now, fantasy baseball is all about value. Currently, the consensus ranking for Margot on FantasyPros is at 181 overall and the 64th outfielder. Ender Inciarte is the 36th outfielder and 111th overall player. Ender Freaking Inciarte!

Steamer has Margot projected for:

Steamer has Inciarte projected for:

PA AVG HR R RBI SB BB% K% .ISO wOBA
 653 .282 9 76 54 19 7.4% 12.7% .109 .329

Even my handy dandy desktop abacus has no problem deciphering the math.

Is there risk? Sure. That condom you used last night could’ve been poked with a needle by an ex. The Bitcoin you bought at $100 years ago has risk. Not really. But theoretically it does. Margot could have the dreaded sophomore slump. Pitchers will no doubt try to attack him in different ways this year. How will he adjust to the adjustments? He plays for the Padres, a team that scored 35 fewer runs than the Giants last season. Think about that. With that said, he’s the 181st player overall. How much risk is there really? At least you get some semblance of upside over guys like Ender Freaking Inciarte.
