We’re at that point in the season. Every day you wake up, and you have a new injury update. Bodies are breaking down, and guys are hitting the DL left and right. The latest dagger to my heart being George Springer due to miss a couple weeks with a thumb injury. I have lots of shares of him, so of course I have been scrambling to find his replacement. I had a guy in mind, and one that I have been watching very closely lately. I was HUGE on Manny Margot heading into this season. In fact, in the Razzball Bold Predictions post I said that Margot would go 20/40 and hit .270. Needless to say when it was pretty disappointing when he as hitting .204 with 1 home run and 6 SB through his first 166 plate appearances.

Flash forward to today, and the Manuel Margot hype train is full steam ahead! He’s only owned in 22.7% of ESPN leagues, but I think he makes a huge impact down the stretch in H2H leagues. He’s really been heating up, and can contribute all across the board. Again, I said he would go 20/40. The good news? He’s at 5 home runs and 10 stolen bases, officially a quarter of the way there! The bad news? We are wayyyy past the quarter mark of the season. While he may fall short of that prediction, adding another 8/10 HR+SB to close the year is realistic and would be crucial down the stretch.

Through 96 games, Margot is slashing .258/.312/.393 with 5 HR, 41 R, 36 RBI, and 10 SB. Not sexy, but not an awful stat line. However, Margot has really been heating up lately. In the past 15 days he is hitting .327 with 2 HR, 11 R, 11 RBI, and 1 SB. Playing for a weak Padres team, his scoring numbers are typically limited but he has been going a great job of creating runs. Since May 31st, Margot has been slashing .297/.351/.453 with a .344 wOBA and 119 wRC+. One downside being that he is just 4-of-11 in SB attempts in that span. He typically bats first or second in the lineup, so as long as he keeps getting on he should see SB and scoring opportunities. Margot is a nice pop/speed combo, one that is so coveted in H2H leagues. Outfield is a position that can thin out as the year goes on, and I think Margot makes for a great replacement. I’ve added him already in a few of my leagues and have been happy with his production so far. He has multi hit efforts in 3 of his last 6 games, and 6 of his last 12. Steamer has him finishing the season slashing .258/.312/.393 with 3 HR, 17 R, 15 RBI, and 6 SB in 166 PA.
