To quote Jim Morrison “This is the end, my only friend the end”. Sad but true (no that wasn’t a Metallica quote), but this is the last time I will be writing about DraftKings for you guys this season. No I am not quitting writing, but the MLB season ends on Sunday and this is my last scheduled post. With that being said, let’s go out with a bang. I will focus strictly on the late games because playing a three game early slate is for true degenerates – don’t waste your money. To everyone who toughed it out with Razzball up until now, I salute you – it’s not easy grinding out close to six months of DFS baseball. We’ve had our highs, we’ve had our lows, but we all had fun that is what matters most. Until next season good bye and good luck.
New to DraftKings? Scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond? Well try out this 10 teamer of Razzball writers and friends to wet your DK whistle. Yusmeiro Petit SP: $7,200 – Last week we saw why Bruce Bochy takes Petit out the game after 90 pitches – he becomes a pumpkin like Cinderella’s horse and carriage. All jokes aside, this is a good spot for him. He clearly pitches better at home than on the road and he get’s a Padres team that is playing for nothing but pride.
Max Scherzer, SP: $12,600 – If you can stomach the price tag, I’m all for playing Mad Max. He is clearly the number one pitcher pitching tonight and has the best matchup (Trevor May). If you can build a solid lineup around him, go for it – but there is value out there.
Derek Jeter, SS: $3,800 – If you don’t play Jeter tonight you are a fool!! His last game ever in Yankee stadium, and you know Gausman is going to throw him meatballs to hit. Or powdered donuts. Whatever is in Gausman’s locker. Jeter has also been hitting the ball well of late, but as mentioned with Gausman, maybe pitchers are just being nice.
Salvador Perez C: $3,300 – Plenty of value here at a low price of $3,300. Perez has mashed off of Quintana in his career, and should be in for good game with a lot on the line. I love this price point and wouldn’t hesitate to use Perez.
Alejandro De Aza OF: $4,000 – De Aza swung a hot bat against Kuroda last time they faced off against one another, and at his price I am willing to give him a shot tonight. With the short porch in right field, left handed batters always are a threat to go deep even if they aren’t “power” hitters. De Aza can fill up stat sheets with speed and runs, so power isn’t a necessity it’s a luxury.
David Ortiz, 1B: $5,000 – The highest priced first basemen on DraftKings with good reason. Ortiz is hitting .385 with three homers, six extra base hits, and seven walks against Hellickson or as I like to call him, “Hel-Luck-Son”. This dude is a lock box, and it clearly isn’t Papi Proof.
Adam Eaton, OF: $4,000 – Eaton is usually one of my favorite cash game plays. He is cheap and usually gives you a solid return. Tonight he takes on James Shields and the KC Royals. Eaton crushes against the Royals. I honestly don’t have an explanation for it but trust me he’s worth a flier.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Two games worry me tonight. The Orioles Vs. Yankees, and the Rays Vs. Red Sox. Good thing I didn’t recommend any of the teams’ pitchers. I assume both games will be fine and Jeter’s last home game will be played hell hath no fury.
Doing Lines In Vegas
The two games with the highest totals are nothing special – Rays Vs. Red Sox and Athletics Vs. Rangers. I can’t trust any of those teams right now, but there are a few bats you could use.
The biggest favorite of the night is Max Scherzer -300 over Trevor May. Shocking right?
