As the MLB season comes to a close, you probably have lost interest in your season long leagues, and DFS at DraftKings is all you have left. Even focusing on MLB is a challenge with the NFL back in the loop; but there is money to be made, and if you don’t like money well then stop reading now. I have a love/hate relationship with Thursday MLB slates. They are usually very short which means there are not a lot of options. On the flip side, it is easier to focus on certain games and make better choices. Today is an interesting day as there are a lot of “fringe” aces on the mound, and a lot of “crap” pitchers too – so there should be some great value hitting wise. PS kudos to anyone who got the Three Six Mafia title reference.

Alex Cobb, SP: $10,700 – Remember when you could get Cobb for around $8,000? Yeah those days are clearly long gone, but he is worth every penny (usually). Before the season startedm I told many people Cobb would finish top 5 in Cy Young voting. Unfortunately, he got injured early in the season so that prediction probably won’t come to fruition. Tonight he takes on the Yankees in the Bronx, a team which he has enjoyed success against in his career. Although there is some risk involved starting a pitcher against the Yankees (they see a lot of pitches), I think Cobb has the right stuff to persevere against them.
Daniel Nava, OF: $3,200 – Nava isn’t the sexiest of names, but at $3,200 he kind of stands out. The main reason he stands out is Liam Hendriks is known to struggle against LHB. Nava as a switch hitter hits righties far better than lefties and shouldn’t be highly owned. I wouldn’t use him in cash games unless I was desperate for cap space, but in a GPP he is quite the interesting play.
Jay Bruce, OF:$3,600 – Seems as if i write about Bruce every week, and his price keeps going down. I love me some Bruce, he has made Lance Lynn his b**ch in their brief history against each other batting .500 with two dongs and 8 RBIs – if that isn’t enough to make you consider him I’m sure his low price will.
Alexei Ramirez, SS: $3,900 – Remember the movie Space Jam? When The Monstars stole the NBA players’ talents? I think that is what happened to Scott Kazmir after that game against the Angels – he hasn’t been the same and no, a quality start against Houston doesn’t count. Ramirez gets bumps in value for three reason – 1)BVP, 2) game is being played in Chicago, 3) he should be batting in the two hole versus a LHP. Given all those reasons, $3,900 is more than reasonable for a tier 2 shortstop.

Thou Shall Not Stack Against Bartolo
Bryce Harper, OF:$3,800 – Harper, AKA the Mets killer, takes his talents to Queens. I totally overlooked this pick, but I’m glad I remembered he absolutely annihilates the Mets. Just one thing I hope for is that Matt Williams remembers this as well, and bats him higher than sixth – wishful thinking I know.
Adam LaRoche, 1B:$4,500 – Another Nat I would consider using is LaRoche – I am not by any means suggesting to stack against big, fat Bartolo – but has been known to give up some dongs. LaRoche is enjoying a bounce back season, and with the Nationals in a pennant race (they got this) I expect 100 percent effort from their hitters.
Scooter Gennett, 2B/SS; $3,400 – Gennett is starting to swing the bat well again and with a thin slate tonight, he makes a perfect 2B/SS option. Nate Eovaldi takes the mound for the Marlins, and although I think he is a breakout candidate for 2015, he faces a tough task with the Brewers. I am not exactly sure where Gennett will bat tomorrow, but he has been batting in the two hole the last few games against RHP – that gives him a significant value increase.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Bad news folks, it looks like a lot of rain is expected on the east coast. Four out of the six late games are in jeopardy due to rain, but I am writing this a day early and a lot can change by then. The games at risk include: TB @ NYY, PIT @ PHI, WAS @ NYM, and LAA @ TEX – all with 40-50 Precip%.
Doing Lines In Vegas
The highest total of the night goes to the Los Angeles Angels Vs. Texas Rangers at 9.5 – with Cody Rasmus (LAA) taking on Nick Martinez I can’t say I am shocked. An Angels stack could be pretty sweet, if the weather holds up.
The biggest favorite of the day goes to Jake Peavy and the San Francisco Giants who take on the Randall Delgado and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The line is set at -177, and it’s hard to argue against since Peavy has turned it around in the NL and the Diamondbacks are poop.
