The Pirates have been on a slippery slope. They are 2-8 in their past 10 and sit 5 games back of a wild card spot. Something needs to be fixed. In comes Dr. Drew Hutchison to heal the team of their losing woes. Tonight the Pirates will be facing the Reds who are far from the playoffs and sit second last in the National League. The Reds own a 89 wRC+ with a 21.1% strikeout rate vs RHP. The thing I like most about Hutch is his strikeout potential. In his 406.1 career MLB innings pitched he has averaged a 8.28 K/9. Hutch has the stuff to easily strike out out 8 over 6 innings tonight. This division rivalry has gone in Pirates favor most often. In their past 9 games in Pittsburgh, the Reds are 3-6. These are crucial games for the Pirates that they need to win. And that win is exactly what us Fantasy players need from Hutch to earn us cash. And with that I give you the rest of my Saturday DFS picks….

Kendall Graveman, SP: $6,900 – Felix and Kendall have been going in different directions the past few games. At 30 years old, Felix may be slowing down as the season wears on. Felix has had more walks than strikeouts in his last two starts. Gravemann, at 25, has been heating up with 5 quality starts in his last 6. Felix and the Mariners have been a different team on the road. Felix owns a 3.79 ERA with a .328 wOBA against, and the Mariners are 32-37.
Dioner Navarro, C: $2,900 – Eduardo Rodriguez has been inconsistent. His last start he threw 8 innings and gave up only 1 hit, but the start before that he gave up 5 runs in 5.1 innings. Martin is out with a knee injury which should land Navarro behind the plate.
Brandon Belt, 1B: $3,800 – He is fresh off a 6-game hitless streak and looking to get back to his earlier season form. Archie Bradley gives it up to LHB. Opposing lefties have a .396 wOBA and 10 homers off Bradley this season.
Jace Peterson, 2B: 3,700 – With a RHP on the mound Jace gets on base. He has a 14.2% walk rate and only a 15.2% strikeout rate. Getting on base is were the magic happens. He stole 3 bases in August and Travis d’Arnaud only has a 23% caught stealing rate.
Manny Machado, 3B/SS: $4,800 – It’s not very often Manny is bad play, and today is no exception. Manny is riding an 8 game hit streak, and since April 28 he has yet to be held hitless for more than 2 games. He is going to reach 35 homers again this season, and it may be today.
Miguel Sano, 3B/OF: $4,300 – With multi-homer potential, Sano is always a favorite pick of mine in tournaments. Clevinger will be taking the mound tonight for the Indians, who has bee struggling to go deep into games. In his last outing he only last 1.2 innings. Sano has 32 homers off RHP in his short career.
Randal Grichuk, OF: $4,800 – Pay up for Grichuk. Pair Scherzer with one of my suggested pitchers and this should be no problem. Opposing righties have a .395 wOBA and 15 homers off of Chase Anderson, and Grichuk’s .513 SLG should add to those numbers.
Cameron Maybin, OF: $3,800 – Homers are not the only way to rack up fantasy points, hits and stolen bases to the trick as well. Maybin has a .330 average and 12 stolen bases with a righty on the mound this season. With a 6.19 ERA, things haven’t been going smoothly for Jimenez.
Brandon Guyer, OF: $3,400 – If there is one thing Guyer does well, it’s hit lefties. Hit well is actually putting it mildly. Guyer has a 178 wRC+ vs LHP. Santiago has gave up 22 homers to RHB this season.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Keep your eyes glued to the weather reports today. There is nearly 50% chance of thunderstorms at Yankee Stadium. There is also a 30-40% chance at PNC Park and Busch Stadium. The worst game, that may even see it postponed, is in Chicago between the White Sox and Royals.
Doing Lines In Vegas
No baseball in Coors … AKA no games with 10 + run totals. The top total today is 9.5 shared between CLE/MIN, BAL/DET, and KC/CHW. Right behind with a 9 total is CIN/PIT and BOS/TOR. Most of the 7.5 runs will be coming from Washington as Max gives them a -275 favorite over Philly. Has Wainwight still got it or is Anderson and the Brewers that bad? St. Louis is a -190 favorite in this one. Hamels and the Rangers are an obvious favorite at -180 over the Angels. The next top team is Rich Hill and the Dodgers at -170 over the Marlins.
