I’m stepping out before my Khris Davis deep sleeper call goes off and giving him a nickname right up front.  You can call him Khris Kross after old school rappers Kris Kross because…because nicknames.  I’m telling you, it’s good!  I’m great at nicknames!  Just ask my cousin, Sarah Tess Davidson.  Some would call her ‘STD’ but I went with something beautiful: Chlamydia.  You don’t even need to ask, of course the name stuck!  Friends, family, you name it, they called her it.  You can imagine how popular she was in High School.  The boys wouldn’t leave her alone, I tell ya.  As a freshman, she was invited out to drive thru movie after drive thru movie, but she never remembered what movie they went to nor much of, if any of the plot and along the way she had 3 kids and dropped out of High School.  I never understood all that, my cousin Chlamydia was such a smart girl…but neverthewho!  We’re not here to talk about all the nephews and nieces I have on welfare, we’re here to discuss how you don’t want to miss the bus on Davis in your deep leagues for 2014 Fantasy Baseball…

The 2013 season as a whole for the Brewers was as some would say, a bit of a downer.  There were a lot of underperformers, a lot of injuries, a lot of suspensions…a lot of dreck, really.  Sure, highlights like Carlos Gomez and Jean Segura were nice but they weren’t enough to make up for the rest of the heartache surrounding the team.  And over the off-season, they lost one of their more consistent players in Norichika Aoki via trade for Will Smith.  Yeah, not the same Will Smith but that tune might be more relevant to 2014 than the baseball version.  Of course that’s a yadda to the third power at this point so lets trudge on.  With Corey Hart also now no longer a Brewer, it’ll be a time that Davis gets to prove or disprove he deserves a shot to shine.  Of course, nearly guaranteed playing time isn’t the main thing we like to hang our hats on in deeper leagues.  We gotta want that PT on our roster and I think Davis’ power showed through from his major league stint last year.  In 2013, Khris Kross exploded onto the scene with 11 homeruns in just 153 plate appearances.  If we just push that to a modest tripling of PA of 459, he was on pace for a 33 HR year.  Of course, that would most likely be an overly ambitious pace to expect or assume out of him.  To be fair, his major league stint played much bigger than his minor league record would suggest but given a combo of his AAA and MLB stats in 2013, you get about a .260 average to go with 24 HRs and 7 steals, which he did in 453 PA.  Now that is more in line with reasonable expectations for a guy like him.  If he excels just a bit to his MLB stats from last year, he’ll be closer to 30 HRs than he will 25 when it’s all said and done.  Given that the Brewers are moving Braun to right field to give Khris a chance, I’ll be banking a Corey Hart circa 2012 season is going to be available in the wee hours of the draft.  If that don’t make ya Jump, Jump, I don’t know what will.
