Draft: Joey, I’m Not Angry Anymore

Joey Lucceshi is making his first start back from the disabled list today, which is the perfect opportunity to buy him on Draft. He looks like he’s back at full strength from his hip injury, as he was pumping 96 MPH in his rehab start. Lucceshi has a 24.9% K-rate through nine starts this year with a 3.47 Deserved Run Average and has an awesome matchup against the Athletics. The A’s are awful against lefties, as they’ve got a .291 wOBA, which is third-worst in the league, and a 24.6% K-rate. Lucceshi also gets to face them at home in arguably the most pitcher-friendly park in all of baseball. He should come at great value in your drafts.

Draft: H to the Rizzo

Drafting Anthony Rizzo is the first step in the blueprint for success on Wednesday. Rizzo has been getting busy in the last 15 days, batting .327 with a 1.094 OPS and five homers. He gets to take advantage of one of the best hitter’s parks in the league in Milwaukee, where he already homered on Monday. Rizzo should have the opportunity to drive in plenty of runs as the Cubs cleanup hitter against Jhoulys Chacin, who has a 4.75 Deserved Run Average this season. I’d try pairing Rizzo with a teammate like Kyle Schwarber, but even as a standalone play, Rizzo is worth an early pick on Draft.

Draft: Major League Flaherty

Just when it seemed like Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty was in the majors for good, the Cardinals went and sent him down. Oh, wait, he’s not in triple-A, he’s just facing another minor league lineup in the Marlins. After all, they’re starting guys like JT Riddle and Lewis Brinson. Miami has just a .283 wOBA versus righties this year, which is the second lowest mark in the league. Since Flaherty has already had success in the major leagues, he should put together a great start tonight, and you can get him for cheap on Draft.

Draft: Sho-time

There are five aces starting today – four of them are projected for over 12 points by Draft, but one was left behind. Shohei Ohtani is projected for just 9.6 points, which means I’ll be taking batters first and waiting to snag him later. Ohtani should have a much better day than Draft projects. He’s got an elite 32.3% K-rate with just an 8.7% walk-rate with just a 2.69 Deserved Run Average. The Tigers have just a .306 wOBA versus right-handed pitching this season, so Ohtani will have no issues with them.

Draft: deGromination

There’s been plenty of talk this year around guys like Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander (and rightfully so) but it feels like Jacob deGrom hasn’t gotten the same kind of hype despite his absurd numbers. deGrom has a 34.3% K-rate with just a 7.0% walk-rate and isn’t giving up any homers, giving him a 1.82 FIP and a 1.89 Deserved Run Average. He’s coming off of a dominant start against the DBacks where he struck out 13 batters, and now gets another easy matchup in the Marlins. Miami has the second-worst lineup in the league against righties with just a .279 wOBA. deGrom is worth spending your first pick on today.

Draft: It’s Happening

Blue Jays starter J.A. Happ is a pitcher that I’m targeting in all of my drafts on Wednesday. While he’s gotten blown up in his last two starts, Happ still has an awesome 29.2% K-rate on the season with just a 6.8% walk-rate. His home run issues won’t be as much of a problem today as he’s away from his home ballpark. Citi Field is a pitcher-friendly venue, and the Mets lineup is a pitcher-friendly lineup against lefties. In fact, the Mets have been worse than any team in baseball this year against left-handed pitching, as they’ve got a pathetic .265 wOBA versus southpaws. This is a matchup that you don’t want to miss out on.

Draft: Moooooooooooooose

Mike Moustakas is one of DFSBot’s top five hitters for Draft contests on this Wednesday for his matchup at Baltimore. Moose has been unstoppable against right-handed pitching this season, putting up a .326/.376/.709 line with just a 9.7% K-rate. He’ll be batting third in the Royals lineup in Camden Yards, one of the best hitter’s parks in all of baseball. Orioles starter Andrew Cashner has a 5.82 FIP with a 2.09 HR/9 this year, making him one of the top pitching targets on the day. Moose is a play you don’t want to miss out on. Draft: Rolling With Nola

I can’t keep myself away from Phillies starter Aaron Nola on Wednesday as he takes on the Marlins. Nola has been rolling through lineups this season and is coming off of four consecutive outings with a quality start. Much has been made about his decrease in K-rate, but he’s still got a fantastic 3.27 FIP, which is the exact same mark he had last season. In fact, his Deserved Run Average has actually improved to 2.88 this year, largely due to the amount of weak contact he’s been able to generate. There’s never a bad time to start Nola, but his matchup today makes it an even easier decision. The Marlins are dead last in wOBA versus right-handed pitching, at just .271, and their 25.0% K-rate is the fifth highest in baseball. Nola also gets to face them in the Crayola Canyon, in front of all 12 Marlins fans. Wait, Marlins Man didn’t renew his season tickets? Okay, make that 11. Draft: Shark in the Water

Giants starter Jeff Samardzija is a shark lurking in the waters on Tuesday, ready to put up a big performance for those who draft him. He is only projected as the seventh-best starter, but I think Shark is your best option outside of the three aces pitching today. He went five scoreless against a tough Angels lineup in his first time out, and that was when he was restricted to just 80 pitches. With a longer leash, Samardzija should have an even better start against the Nats. A popular sleeper candidate before his injury, Samardzija posted a 24.2% K-rate with just a 3.8% walk-rate in 2017, putting up a 3.63 Deserved Run Average. He’s not a top-tier ace, but he’s still a very useful fantasy starter, and people will start realizing that soon enough.

Draft: King Kenta

In his start against the Padres, Kenta Maeda will run the game and have the whole world talking. King Kenta is the Stream-0-nator’s top starting pitching pick on Wednesday against the feeble Padres lineup in arguably the best pitcher’s park in baseball, Petco Park. The Padres have the second highest K-rate against righties this year at 27.6%, giving Maeda a very high ceiling for this start. Maeda has 14 strikeouts through 8 2/3 innings with a clean 2.08 ERA this season – no bones to pick here, Maeda is a top SP option tonight.

Draft: A Yon-Worthy Matchup

Rays starter Yonny Chirinos gets a yawn-worthy matchup on Wednesday as he faces the White Sox. In fact, the Rays-Sox matchup on Tuesday was so ugly that there were reports that only 974 people showed up in attendance. Chirinos, however, certainly isn’t boring – in his last outing, he dominated a strong Red Sox lineup in Fenway Park, allowing just three hits over five innings with no walks or earned runs allowed. The 24-year-old tore up triple-A Durham last year, posting an insane 1.63 Deserved Run Average in 141 innings. Expect a nice outing from Chirinos, and target him late in your drafts. Draft: Klubot Autodrafts Himself

What’s up everybody! I’m excited to be back for another season of DFS here at Razzball, and I’m even more excited to be covering Draft.com! And I’m even MORE excited for this Hot Pocket I have in the microwave. Only thirty more seconds! Anyway, Draft.com is a super awesome way to play DFS because (spoiler alert) you get to draft your players! So, let’s get into some picks. The first guy I’d like to highlight is Corey Kluber. You’ve got a few options at SP to go with early, but I like Kluber the most because, well, he was the best pitcher in all of baseball last year. I’m not always one to take a pitcher early, but if you can get another eight inning, eight strikeout, one earned run start like the one Kluber put out last time, you’re gonna be well ahead of the competition. If Klubot was playing Draft, he’d probably pick himself, and he’s a robot, so he knows more than me.
