Sometimes it is easy as a fantasy baseball writer to get caught up in creative writing puns.  However, this week as we frame up our hitter profiles, this is going to be a serious column.  As we sit in mid-May, we finally have enough data to really understand what is signaling results of our favorite fantasy hitters.  This week, we dig into what once was a thin position behind the plate but has in recent years become a sneaky spot to receive value.  We are of course talking about the catcher position spanning the spectrum from aging veterans like Salvador Perez and young stars like Adley Rutschman.  As we dig into our hitter profiles this week, we are digging for the underlying signs of change that may have been masked by early season sample sizes.  There is the good, the bad and those that have crossed us up so far this season.  Let’s get to the run down in this rendition of our Hitter Profiles before the puns get away from us.

Welcome back to the Top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2024 fantasy baseball season.  As injuries ravage and our statistics stabilize, we are starting to see how the chips should fall.  The Top 100 are really broken down into the top tier of all-stars, a shrinking middle and guys at the back that are still trying to find their way.  For instance, Colton Cowser has been an early darling for fantasy owners, but his 35% strikeout rate is trying to call into question his long-term viability.  Those questions put an anchor on too much ascension in our rankings.  On the other end of some spectrum, we have a guy that was once a top prospect in Jurickson Profar trying to make a case for relevance in San Diego.  Making his best contact in years, Profar is sneaking into our rankings.  While we have seen this before, it feels a bit more real this time around.  The ebb and flow of our rankings continues this week as we dig through those feisty hitters.  Welcome back to the Top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2024 season.

It is time for one of our favorite traditions here with hitter profiles as we debate early season performance and identify some buy or sell candidates at current ownership rates.  This week, we will dig through a few of the leaderboards trying to find players with hot starts and figure out if we have struck gold or are simply fools in waiting.  With all of the injuries so far this season, owners are rushing to fill lineup holes and anybody that is off to a hot start may seem like a lineup mainstay when they should really be trade bait.  Last season, we had a Matt Chapman return to glory only to scuttle for much of the year.  On the flip side, James Outman was able to sustain the results all season providing a huge lift for fantasy owners that jumped on the train early.  Let’s dive into three intriguing players as we close out the first month of the 2024 fantasy baseball season.

Welcome to the first official version of the Top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2024 fantasy baseball season.  This will be the place to be when you are looking at values for the rest of the season making those all-important moves to deliver a championship.  As a reminder for those of you joining for the first time in 2024, we are as consistent as Khris Davis’s batting average by focusing on rotisserie scoring and ignoring everything that has happened in favor of predicting the future.  So far this season, our offseason ranks have pulled their oblique just like half of the league.  That means players like Ozzie Albies, Trevor Story and Christian Yelich all take drops down due to injury issues early in the season.  However, there are veterans and young guns alike ready to jump into their spots as quick as Victor Scott, if he can get on base.  With the formalities out of the way, welcome to our first iteration of the Top 100 hitters for the 2024 fantasy baseball season.  Dig in!

We are barely over a week into the 2024 fantasy baseball season and if you are anything like me, injuries have ravaged. Between Trevor Story, Luis Robert Jr., and Royce Lewis we are all hurting and starting to plug holes in creative ways. This is the time of the season where a hot start can be nothing more than luck and a poor start could simply from facing Shane Bieber (too soon?). This week, we sift through some of those hot starts and figure out who can simply plug a lineup hole versus a potential breakout where you should be dropping some real FAAB. This is where season’s can certainly be won with an astute pickup or lost by hanging on too long to your drafts dreams. Welcome to hitter profiles for 2024 fantasy baseball!

Opening day has come and what a sweet thing it was.  So what did we learn so far?  First thing first, the Dodgers are leaving little doubt that they are going to try to bash their way to a championship.  We also have confirmed that our first round hitters are going to give us a thrilling chase for the top spot with our number two hitter Mookie Betts hitting all over the world.  Finally, we have confirmed that Colorado and Oakland will continue to be barren for fantasy owners this year.  In this week’s edition of the Top 100 Hitters for then 2024 fantasy baseball season, we attack the last 20 spots in our rankings to finish off opening weekend.  If we could fit 40 players into these spots, there would be a longer list as this part of the rankings is tight.  If you are expecting to see Tyler O’Neill, Mitch Haniger or even Jackson Merrill there is good argument for each to crack these rankings and time will tell if they can.  For now, let us finish up our pre-season top 100 hitters.

Welcome to the countdown of the top 100 hitters for the 2024 fantasy season.  This season we will be bringing you the top 100 hitters every other week during the regular season.  There is a clear shift taking place in the hitter draft dynamic and the name of that game is speed.  While some of the most talented hitters may be guys like Juan Soto or Matt Olson, the need for speed at the top draft has pushed down that pure hitting talent.  There should be no question at the top of the draft where the only player in the league that can go 40/70 has to be taken.  However, as the rest of the first round unwinds there is a plethora of young talent with what feels like limitless upside.  Take a risk on a pitcher or power-only slugger and the sledding will be tough the rest of the draft.  Good luck to all fantasy managers during this draft season and without further ado, let the debate begin as we work through the beginning of the top 100 hitters for the 2024 fantasy baseball season.

Next week, we start digging into the top 100 hitters for the 2024 fantasy baseball season!
