Seriously, I’ve been on a bad streak on these. I’m giving you that fair warning. It seems no matter what research I do – and yes I do research – flies back in my face like I just spit out the car window. Chris Colabello? Awful. Dustin Ackley? Egads. Michael Morse? There are baby diapers out there that were stuffed full of more stats then he was. It’s such a tough stretch of year to not only nail down playing time but to also performance. But one thing I thought I could nail down? You guys knowing who the current starting first baseman was for the Saint Louis Cardinals. This feels cheaper than a date with Jaywrong, but I just have to point out the 14.8% owned Matt Adams and how he should be able to assist you in week 25 of your 2013 Fantasy Baseball season path to dominance (or futility, if that applies)…
So, we’ve talked about Matt Adams quite extensively here and there over the course of the year on Razzball. Grey started us off quite nicely with his Matt Adams Fantasy way back in November of 2012. You know, back when you still had hair and weren’t binge drinking after starting James Shields against Detroit. Way back then, Grey described him as a ‘zaftig’ type of player. *Looks up zaftig*. Hrm, I’m beginning to think that doesn’t mean what YOU think it means, Grey…nevertheless, he pointed out that Adams main contender for playing time was Allen Craig who’s related to Jenny Craig and someone Matt should really give a call. But that’s not the point, the main point is Craig really has been Mr. Glass his entire career and his latest foot issues have led to a chance for Matt to produce and his schedule for week 25 is about as good as you’d like it to be. He starts his week off in Colorado for 4 games…do I really need to tell you any more? Ok, well how about Colorado has the 8th worst team ERA in MLB. Better? Good! It hasn’t exactly been a pitching clinic by those Rockies this year for sure. But you wanna know another team that’s struggled almost as much? That would be the Milwaukee Brewers, the team he rounds the week out against. The plus there is they’ve given up the 4th most HRs at home this season and – not surprisingly – have the 5th worst home ERA to go along with it. If there’s ever a week to pick up Matt and hope he goes full on Wolverine, this week should be the one. So go out there and move that 14.8% owned up to 15% and make me happy. Because as we all know, this is really about me.
