Well, we’ve made it.  One month remaining in the Razzball Commenter Leagues.  It seems like just yesterday we were all drafting Vlad Jr. at the end of the first round and thinking how smart we were.  Just me then?  Well, we do have some updated Master Standings for you today as well as all the usual data for your perusing pleasure.  Before we jump into that, VinWins took a closer look at the race for the strikeout lead that I thought was pretty interesting.

Our current second overall team, There`s a drive into deep left field, from RCL 29, has the current best K/9, sitting at 11.0 with 1131 IP, they have 1382 Ks.  Our current leaders are as follows:

1524 Licketty Splits (RCL #21) 1399 IP

1499 ADHamley (RCL #9) 1406 IP

1476 Finchinator (RCL #3) 1353.33 IP

1475 SandwichPick (RCL #16) 1386.67 IP

1446 canjecricketer (RCL #3) 1406.67 IP

1445 WooderIce(RCL #29) 1403.33 IP

1434 rloyod (RCL #19) 1247 IP

1423 Real Joey Bart (RCL #14) 1403 IP

1419 Andy_p (RCL #25) 1320.33 IP

1417 Pitch, please (FCL) 1405.33 IP

Teams in bold have already hit the IP limit.  Licketty Splits nailed the IP limit, and we now await a majestic nine starter performance.  Rloyod from RCL 19 appears primed to make a run at the overall strikeout crown, but if There’s a drive decides to make a run, they should be the favorite.

Just a tidbit I found interesting and a nice shoutout to those current leaders.  Here’s the rest of what happened in the week that was, week 23:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

We had two major movers this week, one positive and one negative.  Cram It led the way with 4.5 points gained to move up three spots to fourth.  Cram threw out 60 quality innings to lead the league in wins with seven.  Going the other way was The Itch, who dropped 5.5 points and fell to fifth, the lowest they have been all season long.  Mike C mentioned in the writer’s chat this week that we were lulling him into a false sense of security atop the league.  He lost 2.5 points this week, and I gained one to close the gap to 3.5 points.  I still don’t think I’m going to have the horses to catch Mike, but I’ll be trying my best.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Daniel Craig (James Bond?) is leading the RazzSlam as we kick off the final Championship period.

A couple Razzball writers are hanging around the consolation bracket.  Best of luck to everyone!

No movement at the very top, just Retro Vertigo expanding their overall lead.  This is their title to lose.  My RCL 19 team had a decent month, and I’d love to hold onto a top five finish, but I know how difficult that is to do.  Nocler has started to pull away in DFSers Anonymous.  I was sitting in second last month, but have fallen to fourth in that very tough league while Nocler has been steadily climbing.  Speaking of impressive climbs, milothecat takes the cake this update, picking up 24 spots in the brutal NOTLZ.  The $100 buy-in league is routinely a top LCI finisher.  Nice work, everyone, and good luck the final four weeks.  So much can still happen!

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 58 – TEAM PINKMAN (RCL 12)

HR –22 – TEAM PINKMAN (RCL 12)

RBIs – 63 – TEAM PINKMAN (RCL 12)

SB – 16 – Vin 27 Outs (RCL 27), Moose Jaw Lemmings (RCL 25), & Kreplech (RCL 3)

AVG – .322 – NCPhilly (RCL 19)

K – 83 – SquatCobblers (RCL 21)

W – 7 – 4 Teams Tied

SV –  9 – JKJ (RCL 29)

ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 0.23 – Halcyon (RCL 1) (in 40 IP)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.6 – Halcyon (RCL 1)

TEAM PINKMAN went full sweep on the big three offensive categories this week, a weekly triple crown, if you will.  Halcyon was the one setting new weekly records, though.  Halcyon threw two shutout innings Sunday to reach 40 IP, just hitting the limit. Yamamoto gave up the only run they allowed. DFresh (RCL 19) gave up 3 in 40.33 IP to finish 2nd (0.67 ERA – which would have just missed being a record).

Our resident bullpen guru, JKJ leading saves for the week is pretty sweet.  Even sweeter, JKJ is just three saves from the overall saves lead in the RCLs.  Bullpen guy doing bullpen things, follow his articles for bullpen goodness, they arrive an hour after mine.

Some more data from the week from VinWins:

31 teams had an ERA under 2; 24 teams were over 6.

19 teams hit under .200 and 19 teams were over .300.

106 teams had 0 saves!

Four weeks left.  84.7% of the schedule has been completed. 847 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 1185 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.

Three more teams have reached 1400 IP (6 total):

RCL 3 – canjecricketer

RCL 9 – ADHamley

FCL  – Pitch, please

Vin also tallies a Team of the Month for each month, this month, it’s me!  RCL 19 has been a brutal battle, hoping I can hang on for the final weeks.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Duran Duran

League: RCL 19

Stats:   AVG: .274, R: 47, HR: 15, RBI: 59, SB: 5

IP: 64, ERA: 3.09, WHIP: 1.297, K: 65, W: 6, SV: 5

Summary: Better late than never for Duran Duran.  It was a big week, but didn’t amount to much in the standings.  George Kirby continued to dominate at home, allowing just one run and seven baserunners in 7.2 IP while striking out nine and getting the win. Tyler Mahle was just as good, punching out nine in six and 2/3 innings. Logan Gilbert (9 K) and Zack Wheeler (10 K) each won one of their two starts. The relief corps threw 13 and a third shutout innings, recording two wins and five saves with 12 strikeouts. Raisel Iglesias had two saves, while Erik Sabrowski and Kenley Jansen each earned a win and a save. Rafael Devers was the offensive star, hitting .429 with eight runs, three home runs, and eight runs batted in. Jackson Chourio also knocked three out and drove in seven, and chipped in a steal. Lars Nootbaar went 5 for 8 with two homers. Jarren had a big fly, but it was Ezequiel Duran with a long ball and eight ribbies that kept the team name relevant. Alejandro Kirk added a surprise steal to go with a home run. And Juan Soto returned from injury with his first homer since July 9.  Duran Duran picked up eight points with the big week, but remained in tenth place in what is currently tied with COUGS R US for the second toughest league in the RCLs.
