RCL Update: The Week That Was, Week 19, 2026

The trade deadline for MLB has come to pass, and the deadline for our fake game is tonight at midnight.  Today is the last chance to improve your teams via trade.  We had a flurry of activity this past week, with 12 deals being made.  I’m sure there will be more to come on the final day.  A bookkeeping note: we will not have Master Standings today, Rudy and the robots are vacationing in a pool of motor oil somewhere warm.  They’ll be back next week, and we’ll run the updated standings then.  In the meantime, we have all the goods from the week that was, week 19.

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

New leader alert!  Mike led the league in RBI and batting average this week, gaining a league best six points to move ahead of Itch.  Itch dropped two points for a four point swing.  I knew my fourth place last week wouldn’t hold and I fell three spots this week while dropping three points to land in seventh.  Four steps forward, three steps back.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

It looks like all 50 teams from the Championship bracket moved on, no wonder I was confused on this round.  That means these past three weeks were mostly just to see which Wild Card teams would advance.  I think we follow the regular cutline rules and since it’s a small field, that first round is a gimme for the Championship tier.  Curtis Jones was the top finisher, with Andy Behrens right there.  Congrats to everyone, including these five from the Wild Card round:

We now have a field of 55 with the top 18 moving on, joining the top two from the WC bracket.  The overall standings look a lot more normal now, showing you the cutline and who is in and who is out.  Round 3 starts on August 24th, three weeks to make the cut and play for all the beans.  Good luck!

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

Twelve deals this week involving 29 players, with Jarren Duran and Paul Skenes each being traded for the 6th time.  As Vin said, everyone is trying to land on Duran when (if?) he finally starts hitting.  Remember when Paul Skenes was good?  Many closers on the move this week.  DeGrom for Scott is rough with Edwin Diaz coming right back into the closer role.  Maybe Duderinos is hoping for another injury there.  I traded for Yandy in a league where I need AVG and Burleson in a league where I had Cal Raleigh and Dillon Dingler.  Burleson was a major target of mine at the deadline.  Really hoping for a big second half.  I also really like the Hader and Muncy deal for Jose Ramirez.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Low-End Seamster

League: RCL 19

Stats:   AVG: .308, R: 46, HR: 17, RBI: 50, SB: 11

IP: 67.1, ERA: 1.60, WHIP: 0.921, K: 75, W: 4, SV: 2

Summary: RCL 19 is one of my better teams this year, and I haven’t been able to get anywhere near DFresh at the top of the standings.  Next thing I know, Low End Seamster is flying by me as well.  This league is tough.  Seamster is a wheeler and dealer, making seven deals so far.  Ceddanne Rafaela (acquired in a June trade for Carson Benge) was the batting star, leading the team in most categories – .419 with seven runs, five home runs, eleven runs batted in, and two steals. Francisco Lindor started paying dividends, hitting .346 with three homers and eight ribbies. Shohei Ohtani hit .500 with a couple long balls, while JJ Wetherholt, Cole Carrigg, and Esteury Ruiz chipped in a couple stolen bases apiece. Max Clark and Vaughn Grissom were each 6 for 12 with a home run in three games.  Eight relievers combined for 18.1 IP with 18 punchouts and just one run allowed. Jacob Webb earned a win, while Jake Latz and Adrian Morejon picked up saves. Payton Tolle won one of his two starts and struck out 14. Noah Cameron had the best start of the week except for no win – eight shutout innings with three baserunners and seven Ks. Drew Rasmussen and Sean Burke had identical lines (6 IP/5 baserunners/0 ER/10 K), but only Drew came away with the win.  Seamster stayed in 2nd place, but cut their deficit from 12.5 to 5.  Out here doing the thing I haven’t been able to do all year.  Nice work!
