Hamates are back on the menu this week! My teams are looking more and more like a hospital ward with all the red flags and IL markers. Between injuries and a smorgasborg of starting pitcher implosions, this was a week of moving backwards and reevaluating. Do I really need to be stashing Logan Henderson while I have four other players on the IL? How about Ben Joyce? Corbin Burnes? Is Spencer Strider cooked and droppable? The short benches and three IL spots make for some very difficult decisions in the RCLs. Looks like I should have drafted Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon instead of Nick Lodolo and Spencer Strider. Alas, win some, lose some. How are your teams holding up? We’re almost at the 50% mark, if you can believe it, but still a few weeks from the unofficial halfway mark, the All-Star break. Let’s take a look at where things stand in the week that was, week 12.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Grey continues his steady climb out of the basement, this week picking up a league-best 5.5 points and moving into ninth place. Grey led the league in R, HR, and RBI. Itch moved back into first place thanks to three points gained on the back of a league-best .308 average and 0.96 WHIP. Going the other way was Coolwhip, who dropped 6.5 points and fell to seventh.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
James Sweeney got back on top after a one week dip. Andy moved into second overall as Matt Poole fell to third. Mike C gains a spot to move into fourth overall for TeamRazz! There are a good number of Razzball writers sitting in the top 50 as well. We have four weeks left in the regular season where the top two teams in each league move to the Championship round. Time to motivate those squads to make a move!
Speaking of making moves, Enrico Pallazzo of middle infield coverage fame had the most points this week with 817, and former middle infield writer, Bunt Singles moved up the most places (68) thanks to 743 of his own points. It was a middle-infield writer extravaganza!

Summary: I assumed the TOW would be littered with Rockies and A’s this week, but it was James Wood who was the clear offensive star, hitting .440 with three homers and three steals. Wood also scored nine and drove in six. Ceddanne Rafaela (8 RBI) and Josh Naylor (6 RBI) each hit two home runs and stole a base. The Max Muncys contributed 2 HR/6 RBI (Dodgers) and 1 HR/5 RBI (A’s). Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Jeremy Pena each added a couple of thefts. Shohei Ohtani also hit two long balls, though another was missed while he was used as a pitcher (6.2 IP/4.05/1.35/6 K). The relief corps led the pitching, with Pete Fairbanks, Paul Sewald, and Devin Williams combining for a win and six saves with ratios of 1.08/0.96. Anthony Munoz also “earned” a save, though he allowed two runs in his inning of work. Freddy Peralta and Bryce Miller picked up the only wins from the starting staff, while Kevin Gausman and Michael Soroka had the best outings, each striking out seven and allowing one run in seven innings. The big week gained Clyde 5.5 points as they held onto first place. Their lead actually shrank, though, as 2nd place FOUL BALLS gained 8.5, tough competition!
