Hope all our readers had a nice long weekend!  It’s back to school time and the wind-down to the baseball season.  Just four weeks remain in the baseball season, and it’s an all out sprint to the finish!  Timing worked out great with the long weekend and the end of August, so we have updated Master Standings for your viewing pleasure.  Time to load up on those Tongs and Tolles and pray we don’t get roofied, ruining our ratios and chance at immortal glory, or a virtual trophy, same thing.  Let’s see where everyone landed in our second to last update of the season (we’ll try to do one in two more weeks so everyone has an idea where they land as we finish this thing out) and the rest of the stats from the week that was, week 23.

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Big movement in Perts this week as Son does what Son does and makes his end of season surge.  It’s a tale as old as time, Son charges and tries to time that charge with the end of season, peaking at the perfect time to win the whole thing.  Son picked up 2.5 points while Mike C lost 5.5, and Kirksey dropped four, moving Son to within half a point of the lead.  Impressive stuff from one of the best to do it.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Your current top twenty vying for Razzslam glory:

And those looking to land a sweet Razzball tee in the Wild Card round:

Joe haters are having a rough month as our vocal commenter has taken the overall lead and placed three teams in the top five.  Quite an impressive month for Joe!  He even had the top two teams in Vin’s Team of the Month for August.  It’s the summer of Joe; it’s just a matter of hanging on now.

Longballers is going to have to give RCL 35 a pep talk to get that LCI up over the last month to have a shot at the title.

Password is taco has the talent to make a late push here as well, and a 103 LCI could be a sweet spot.

Gunk Squad slipped seven spots this update, but we’ve seen them make big moves in the past.

Squat Cobblers shot up ten spots and could definitely make a push for the top spot with the 104 LCI in RCL 17.

Props to Gilson Schmilsson on two teams in the top eleven.  Multiple teams in the top twenty is crazy hard and should be noted.

Nice work, everyone, and good luck down the stretch!

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 64 – Bad News Bears (RCL 23)

HR –26 – Swanson TV Dinners (RCL 17)

RBIs – 77 – Swanson TV Dinners (RCL 17)

SB – 15 – Mr Big & Bud Goode (RCL 35) & Storminator (RCL 27)

AVG – .332– tagushi (RCL 3)

K – 135 – Rob Manfred’s Sorry Team (RCL 17)

W – 10 – JamScandal (NOTLZ)

SV –  9 – Here We Go Jim (FCL)

ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.04 – Late to the Party (RCL 28) (in 52 IP)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.673 – Late to the Party (RCL 28)

Swanson TV Dinners (great name) fell one dinger short of the weekly HR record but took over the RBI record this week.

Likewise, Rob Manfred’s Sorry Team (lol) took over the strikeout lead with a massive 135 Ks.

One would think the ERA and WHIP leaders would correlate more often, but it’s definitely a rarity.  Nice work, Late to the Party, capturing both this week.

Some more weekly stats from VinWins:

26 teams had an ERA below 2.00. 31 were above 6.

Just 3 teams hit under .200 (18 last week)

31 teams hit over .300. (24 last week)

84.6% of the schedule has been completed. 846 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 1185 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.

4 WEEKS TO GO. JamScandal (Night of the Living Zombinos) NEEDS 16 HR/week to tie the record.

Every week, I watch Son’s claims remaining number dip down, but The Gas Station only has 26 moves to last them four weeks!

The most active teams:

474  The Gas Station (RCL #29)

459  Son (COUGS R US)

453  HoosierBoss (RCL #25)

432  Not Enough (COUGS R US)

427  Backdoor Splitters (ECFBL)

423  HoosierBoss (RCL #9)

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Mr Big & Bud Goode

League: RCL 35

Stats:   AVG: .238, R: 56, HR: 19, RBI: 54, SB: 15

IP: 69.2, ERA: 3.10, WHIP: 1.105, K: 71, W: 6, SV: 5

Summary: Mr Big & Bud Goode had a week that looks like something Oneil Cruz might put up.  Low batting average, with plenty of dingers and stolen bases for all.  Still, it plays in our game.  Juan Soto hit .333 with three home runs and five stolen bases to pace the offense. He also scored eight runs and drove in seven. Mark Vientos had three homers with ten ribbies while hitting .320. Trevor Story hit only .185, but contributed a pair of long balls and a couple steals. Oneil Cruz (he did contribute to his namesake week!) added a homer and two steals despite a .118 average. Jurickson Profar, Dansby Swanson, and Junior Caminero chipped in with two home runs each. Emmet Sheehan tossed seven shutout innings, allowing three baserunners and striking out ten to earn a win. Tarik Skubal won one of his two starts and struck out 16. Jonah Tong and Clayton Kershaw each gave up one run and had six strikeouts in five innings for two more wins. Cade Smith added a win and two saves in three and a third scoreless frames.  The sweet week gained Bud 6.5 points and moved them up from 7th to 4th in RCL 35.  Nicely done!

Ah Man what a year. I could probably never replicate it. It’s going to be fun to try though. Good luck trying to catch me fellas. I actually think my 3rd place team will finish with the most Ks in the RCLs this year. We shall see. Could lose some points there with the first place team though. Like you said will try and hang around.

Fun reading this post every week, from a first year Razzer (less than 1 month subber !), and envious I could not join the RCL this year. Too darned cool.
Good luck to all down the stretch of nitty gritty.
