The 2015 fantasy baseball season is underway, and with it begins another year of prospect coverage here at Razzball. As always, I’ll be spinning everything from a fantasy perspective since that’s what we’re here for. During the offseason, I ranked my Top 50 Fantasy Prospects and covered each team’s Top 10 fantasy prospects in both the American League and National League. Whether you’re in a deep dynasty/keeper league looking to stock your farm or in a redraft league/RCL just looking for the next call-up to jump on, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a look at what’s on tap for this season’s prospect coverage here at Razzball…
Minor Accomplishments
Every other week, this series will dig up the best (and sometimes worst) performances from across the minor leagues. If it’s noteworthy and it happened in the minors, it’ll be reported here. Injury news, promotions, and position changes are just a few of the additional bits of info that can be found in these posts.
Prospect Power Rankings
Alternating with the Minor Accomplishments series will be the Prospect Power Rankings. This is where 2015 redraft league players will want to hang out. I’ll rank the ten best fantasy prospects on the verge of the major leagues with some recent performance info on each. Hopefully you can snag them off of waivers just before they come up instead of finding out you’re a week too late to the party. New for this year – I’ll be tracking how various prospects do after they arrive in the bigs as well.
Prospect Profiles
In the Top 10 lists for each team, I tried to sum up each prospect’s fantasy value in about 100 words. In the prospect profiles, I’ll devote an entire post to one prospect and really take a look under the hood. I’ll try to mix it up between the household names and players that might not be on your radar. We might uncover a few diamonds along the way. If there’s a particular prospect you want me to pick apart, let me know in the comments this year.
2015 Draft/J2 Signees Coverage
Want to know which prospects will be good for your fantasy team three years after your league has disbanded? Then this is the series for you. I’ll go through the 2015 first-year player draft with a fine-toothed fantasy comb, and then do the same for the teenagers coming at you on July 2nd. For players in the deeper dynasty formats this is important stuff since it’s the biggest influx of talent into the player pool.
Top 50 Fantasy Prospects Midseason Re-Rank
A lot can change between March and July in prospect land, so I’ll tweak my rankings this summer and who knows, maybe I’ll even let the list grow to 100. Some prospects will be getting their first tastes of a new level, while others will be trying to bounce back from disappointing seasons or prove that their 2014 wasn’t a mirage. All of that – and more importantly the most recent scouting reports – will be reflected in the new rankings. I’ll also update each prospect’s ETA.
Dynasty League Recaps
We have our very own dynasty league here at Razzball called the Razznasty League. Every once in a while, I’ll check in on that league – updating you on the standings and providing you with insights on some of the big trades and acquisitions from the league members themselves. I’ll also fill you in on how my dynasty team is doing in Bret Sayre’s “TDGX” 20-team experts league as well as a super deep 30-teamer I’m participating in with Matt Winkelman of PhilliesMinorThoughts and Razzball’s own Ralph Lifshitz. That team is in a full-on rebuild, and it might be fun to follow along as I start down the long road back into contention.
Good luck this year…I’m looking forward to it!
