Wow, this is our penultimate league-wide post! In only one-and-a-half weeks, the first REL World Series will see its first pitch.
Even for the non-contenders, it’s September roster expansion time! A lot of prospects have gotten the call, and several big splashes have been made with the final FAAB dollars teams have remaining.
To the standings, and in the AL, what a push from The Tribe! After jostling with the Blue Jays the past few weeks, they took a commanding 11.5 point lead as scores wrapped this morning. The Blue Jays aren’t out of it yet though… In the NL, it’s been the Nats all along, who continue their dominance in the first year. Here’s how week 23 went down in the 2016 REL League:

| Things keep looking brighter and brighter! Even though I’m still fending off the Braves for the 13th spot, I am encroaching on the Phillies as well. I wish Yahoo had a month-by-month roto table, I’d bet my past month has been about my best of the season. Of course it’s too little, too late since I’ve stripped it all down to rebuild, but it’s nice to get a glimmer of the future.
Despite being bumped from the rotation, Alex Reyes goes ham on the Pirates for 3.2 IP of 1-run ball with 6 Ks and 0 BB yesterday. Such a weapon to have your starter blow and only have to use one bullpen arm. DAMMIT! I mean, these Cardinals idiots are wasting a starter! Brock Stewart wasn’t dominant last night, but only allowed 1 run in his first career win. Adam Morgan has had 3 great starts in his last 4, and might be a nice low-end SP next year. And Albert Suarez survived Coors, and has looked pretty usable to me. Gotta love a pitcher in SF! If somehow all those guys open 2017 in their respective rotations, I might have a usable staff. On the hitting side, and what a pleasant surprise I got with Raimel Tapia called up! Lovvvvve this guy. All he’s done is get on base every game, hit .350 in his first week, and post a .391 OBP. It’ll suck to see him sit when Charlie Blackmon is back, but Tapia looks ready for the Majors. Other highlights were Andrew Toles continuing to be awesome every start he gets, and Domingo Santana having some big games. We love you, Sunday! |

| With a week and a half left of the regular REL season, my team is playing well again and I feel I should be able to hold off the Red Sox and take 3rd place. I realize now that I would have had a better shot at 1st this year if I had sold my farm and made more trades like the Tribe did. This will be something to keep in mind for next year. I continue to tinker with my roster using the waiver wire trying to find any value I can, but there really is not much there at the moment. At this point, there is not much else to do besides set my lineup and wait until October to being trading. | ||
