Momma Albright was visiting so I wasn’t able to get on the fantasy baseball podcast this week.  Momma said to me (like she just got off the boat from Italy in 1930), “Grey, you do the podcast, I’ll make-a-you gravy.”  I said, “No, momma, it is okay, I’ll spend time with you, and burn the bunions off your feet while Nick and Rudy podcast.”  “My bunions do bother me — ah, my boy!  For your love, I will leave with you one of my bingo hummels.”  I did get to listen to the podcast afterwards and let me be the first to say… *kissing my fingertips, making muah sound*  On today’s podcast, new Razzball writer and 1990’s deejay, aka the “Guru,” takes us thru some 90’s music flashbacks (Milli Vanilli, ‘N Sync, NKOTB and more!) and we “Jam It or Cram It” on where to hold or not hold certain players (Jackie Bradley Jr., Parra, Cowgill, Just Peachy Arencibia, Flowers). (By the by, I think the Guru was a real radio deejay, not one of those deejays you hired for your bar mitzvah and they asked you if you wanted them to bring hula hoops for an extra $50.)  Also, on today’s podcast JayWrong and Nick discuss his bold predictions.  ‘Wrong is officially the first fantasy baseball prognosticator to have more than one bold prediction regarding the Padres.  The Padres themselves don’t even have such high hopes.  Finally, Rudy and Nick discuss how Rudy was up until 3am trying to get the Stream-o-Nator working, but it seems the Astros are so bad they’re mucking up the system.  Don’t cry for Rudy, it wasn’t 3 AM EST.  Central Time Zone — pfft!  BTW, the Draft Kings thing is going off in two days, so if you wanna do that there ya go.  Anyway, here’s the Razzball podcast (without yours truly):

Just traded Shelby Miller for Boggs. I already have 6 good starters and I figure Boggs has a chance to keep the role, his SIERA the past two years was under 3.5, and most importantly he says he expects to get better. Of course I would rather have Rosenthal, but he isn’t available, there are no solid handcuffs available and I need to get a solid ground in saves.

I don’t think people should totally give up on Boggs just yet.

  4. Just missed the cutoff on the previous post. Here it is:

Grey — Am I extrapolating correctly from one of the questions above [from the previous post] that you’d rather have Berkman than Torri Hunter? Berkman and I have had good times in the past, but I worry about his injury risks. I’ve got Hunter in this 14-team 6×6 redraft roto league where AGon is my 1B. If I had Berkman, AGon would essentially replace Hunter in the OF and Berkman would be 1B. The other OF on this team are: Pence, Revere, Choo, Adam Jones.

Do you see your “signature” on teams when readers list their rosters? Every time I see Goldschmidt, Jones, Upton, and no top catchers or SPs, etc., I think this guy used Razzball rankings for his draft.

Also, a couple of simple lineup question for today … I have to sit 1 from each group in my lineups tonight:

    League 1:
    Revere (vs. NYM/Gee)
    Rutledge (@ SF/Lincecum)
    Nunez (@ CLE/Carrasco)

    League 2:
    Espinosa (vs. CWS/Peavy)
    Rutledge (@ SF/Lincecum)
    Nunez (@ CLE/Carrasco)
    Marte (@ ARI/McCarthy)

    Thanks!

Am I overvaluing Harvey? have negotiations going on that may result in me getting Harvey and a draft pick for Jo-fer and Freese. Currently have Longo at third and Freese would be Util.

@Grey: I like what I saw from Jo-Fer, but JB’s inning by inning breakdown has me a bit concerned. Which is why I was leaning towards getting Harvey.

@Grey: I know very little about LA. But the last time my wife and I went we were famished when we got off the plane at LAX. My wife looked for a great brunch place in the area and she found a spot that yelp said “had the best waffles around.” Having lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan for many years we pictured a quaint, rustic bistro that serves light and fluffy waffles with maple butter, maybe some fresh fruit (or even better, a parfait) and perhaps a mimosa on the side. What we got was the Serving Spoon in Inglewood, CA.

Not quite what we pictured but their chicken and waffles, smothered in cinnamon, with buttery grits is still, and will forever be, one of the best damn meals I’ve ever had.

I’ve been offered Pujols and Beckham for Goldschmidt and Zobrist.

16 team H2H league, 8×8 (H, R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, SLG, BB)

    C – Wieters
    C – Buck
    1B – Fielder

    3B – Wallace
    SS – Rutledge
    CI – Goldschmidt
    MI – Altuve
    LF – Crawford
    CF – Revere
    RF – J Upton

  18. In light of Weavers elbow, You think Garrett Richards gets opportunity for Angels? Looked decent in Spring and has always had good stuff. Their minor league arms aren’t much to write home about either.

So was thinking a trade for someone like Lilly or Richards moving from pen to rotation might be the call.

    Thoughts on that?

    • Grey

      Grey says:
      (link)

It’s Garrett Richards or Jerome Williams as of right now… Neither are that great in the rotation… Richards obviously has some upside…

      • @Grey:
Kinda what I think as well. I play in a deep 14 league mixed redraft, with weekly rosters.. so will just monitor for now. I’m in need of another SP arm until Garza returns. hence, constantly monitoring.

Staff – MadBum, Gallardo, Niese, JoFer, Shelby, AJ Griffin
        Bench – Garza

typically, stream 1 guy weekly, since we can start 12 P – (min 4sp/ 2rp + 6 flex) with 40 inning min ip. This week it’s Wood and Maurer.

Andrus would be an upgrade over Zach Cozart and Jed Lowrie, who are currently manning SS and MI for me. I have very good pop and decent speed on my team. I’m not watching the game but the fact Benoit came in the 9th with a 5 run lead makes me think he was warming up to close anyway. @Carnac: I was high on Morrow last year and owned him where I could (some loved him even more!). Obviously he had a pretty good season, minus the oblique injury. But I always had this weird feeling that he was gonna screw the pooch at some point.

He never really did last year, but I felt it comin’ this year. Not to say he’s garbage and is waiver wire material, but I think there will be a step sideways or back, not forward, this season.

More recently, I’ve enjoyed “Fish Tank” and “The Trip”. “Attack the Block” was also good, though more in a junk food sort of way. And of course all the usuals: “Snatch”, “Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels”, “In Bruges”… I could go on all day. :)

Upton just robbed of his 7th homer by the gigantic crayon box in north Cuba. Hammered one over 400 feet to center that hit the bottom of the wall for an RBI double.

…and Peavy melts down in the 6th, giving up 4 runs and his 2nd and 3rd homers of the game. Son of a bitch, my ERA is going to be 20.00+ this week.

I dropped Hellickson last week and picked up Valverde. I then flipped him for Seager as I needed a 3rd baseman for week 2 (I own Lawrie and A-Ram).
Seager’s been terrible since opening day. Do you think he is a decent player or just an average guy who can be exposed?

After dropping Hellickson, A manager snapped him up in a heartbeat (He dropped Voquez). Like you I am down on Hellickson so I’m not worried about him being popular and losing him.

I am however confused at your stubborness in regards to Buckholz. I really feel he is actually begin to reach his no hitter potential. Sadly I dwindled too long on the wire and another player picked him up.

I saw him win against the O’s While Trevor Cahill (who I was thinking of dropping for him) looked terrible. Thanks for the seeds of doubt Grey!

I am considering dropping Cahill for one of the following – Miley, Lynn, Garcia, Maholm. Who would you drop Cahill for out of these guys?

Lynn, though if they’re all on your waivers it matters who they’re facing…

Long time follower, check in everyday to see what you and your team are thinking. I’ve always resisted asking for your opinion on my team, but I think that the birthday shots I took earlier this evening have lowered my guard. So how’s about taking a gander at my 10 team 5×5 and hitting me with your brutally honest insight?

Who could drop such a beautiful man? Rotoinfo has the BEST profile pics of players on the web, hands down in that they are probably the worst you’ll find our there. Chris Carter of the Astros is Chris Carter of the Rays from circa 2010…and he’s a white guy. But back to Axford, does he not look like he’s on a Telemundo soap opera?
