0Rudy had to take a flight when we were recording the podcast. He tried to continue on the plane while it was taxiing, but they asked him to turn off the phone, so he said he was only playing Words With Friends, so they kicked him off the plane, and, unfortunately, there was no reception in the terminal, so it was just me. It was scary out there by myself! I did half the podcast with a flashlight held up to my face and tears coming down my face while Nick held a shaky camera up to record it. We then buried the recording somewhere in the woods and what you are about to hear is what we found when we dug it up the next day. Good thing we marked the buried recording with a poorly-constructed witch made of twigs! Also, in this podcast there’s a rap song performed by one of you out there in Razzball Nation. Some dude in my league, apparently out of massive frustration, just cut Wigginton, Pena and Napoli. I am near bottom in RBI and HR, and pretty weak in runs in an ESPN 12 team 6×6 with holds and OPS. I did a mid-month overhhaul in May (traded for Reyes, Myers and Montero)to remake my team as it is below, so my place is not necessarily the result of these players. That said, would you get any of those three, and if so, who would you cut? I am currently #4 in waiver, and may not get any shot, but whatever…

Hey Grey, i cant make any move until i activate Morse from the DL and i really dont know who to drop to do this. I dropped Adams to activate Reynolds but now i do have to chose between Ruiz, Reddick, Swisher and Viciedo but they all are playing good baseball right now except for Viciedo who is going through a slump. Derek Holland has lost 4-5 mph recently cuz he is battling a stomach virus that has caused him to lose 15 lbs. Wish he had told us sooner!

Hi Grey — In a 16-team roto league with daily lineup changes, what do you suggest with Rasmus? All things being more or less equal, I generally go with the hot hitter. Rasmus is coming off the huge game last night but facing a southpaw tonight, and he’s hitting .170 vs. LHP. Do I start him or wait until he faces a righty again (which is tomorrow: Peavy)?
I’ve got other options for the three OF and one UTIL slots (Victorino, Delmon Young, Bruce, Luke Scott, Stubbs) but I don’t want to miss another huge night.
And a couple of quickies: Are you still high on Rizzo? I was hoping he’d be up by now and it now seems like it could be three more weeks.
And when you have a good hitter whose struggling to find his groove (i.e., Krispie, Morse) do you take a multi-hit performance like yesterday’s as proof that they’re back? Or do you need to see more?
@Enrique, I’m still high on Rizzo, but I dropped him in a 12 team league where I needed flexibiility. In a 16 team league, I’d hold… I’d play a good hitter always, not trying to miss out on any stats from them… Stubbs is hurt and you shouldn’t play Young over Rasmus… So no dilemma…

I’ve got Craig as my 2B. Is Utley, who was dropped, worth a stash in 12 team H2H? Assuming Utley can make it back around All-Star break, do you see him being a top 8-ish 2B ROS?

Great podcast guys, listen to it every week. As to Johan Santana someone said on the podcast he’s more of a “3.5 ERA guy with good WHIP.” Thing is, he’s never had a ERA over 3.33 in any season in his career besides the first 2 (where he had 9 starts total). He has a career 3.08 ERA and his highest was 3.33 in 2007, his next highest was 3.13 in 2009. He’s been great fantasy this year because of resurgence of SO’s, but he’s always been elite in the ERA department.
Chase Utley has degenerative arthritis in his knees, for which there is no cure for. When you have Degenerative arthritis the only thing to do is rest and rehab.
